Croatia is without a doubt one of the most popular places to party in Europe during the Summer! Thousands of people flock to the Adriatic coastline each year to soak up the sun, swim in the crystal clear waters and indulge in a cocktail or two! And whilst most places in Croatia feature a waterfront view or charming location to sip on a cold drink, some locations are just a cut above the rest! Here are some of our favourite bars that you won't want to miss out on when you're visiting Croatia: 1. Buza Bar, Dubrovnik - located just outside the Dubrovnik City Walls is Buza Bar. Here you can grab an ice-cold drink, take in the impressive views, go for a swim and watch the locals cliff jump! 2. Massimo Cocktail Bar, Korcula - situated in a 15th-century turret you'll find this impressive cocktail bar overlooking the sea and mainland Croatia. Due to its relatively small size, all cocktails are delivered using a pulley system up the side of the building! 3. Hula Hula Bar, Hvar - the place to be for sunset cocktails, as you soak up the incredible djs and waterfront location! 4. Your onboard bar! Of course, you don't have to wait to dock at a new destination daily to indulge in your favourite drink or cocktail! Every bar onboard a Sail Croatia cruise is fully stocked with cold, competitively priced beverages! To join us on a Sail Croatia Cruise, check out our cruises here: https://www.sail-croatia.com/croatia-cruises 5. Nautica Bar, Hvar - home to the famous flaming jager train, Nautica Bar is a waterfront bar in Hvar that serves up an array of delicious cocktails! Did you know that baleen whales are the largest animals on Earth, yet they eat some of the smallest animals in the ocean? Baleen whales strain water through their baleen to capture food. Magnus makes a start on converting our existing staysail into a furling one. He begins by removing the old bolt rope, which is too small, and then sewing in a new one, making various repairs to he sail along the way. We head out to Happy Bay but are thwarted by the tides and end up in completely the opposite direction at Woodwark Bay. The hot water system gets a bit of TLC with much needed new hoses and Magnus does a bit of housekeepings too. In a howling 40 knot wind, we manage to fit the Reefurl furler to the staysail and then, after a couple of lovely days away, we head back to Airlie in high winds, yet again! Thanks for watching. On this episode of WE|Sail, we have been sailing the Caribbean for over a year, and now we finally sail Evolias into the Pacific Ocean where we will spent the next year sailing up the Pacific side of Panama, Costa Rica, and Mexico. Post Panama Canal transit, we take a few days to go fishing and spend some quality time with Erica's dad Jacques, before he heads out and then welcome my Mom on board for her first sailing experience. We get our first view of a whale during a fish boil where we land a few Pompano fish. After Jacques departs we say hello to Mom Fran and attempt to show her our sailing lifestyle and a taste of island life. We have winds too low to sail so we motor to the nearby Las Perlas islands and spend a few idyllic days exploring the beaches. Thanks for watching the adventures of WE! Rick Tomlinson is a photographer and sailor whose relationship with this race runs deep. He first stepped onboard a Whitbread boat as a sailor back in 1985 with Drum, as a crewmate of Duran Duran star Simon Le Bon. From there Rick pioneered the role of capturing life onboard as a photographer, taking some of The Ocean Race's most iconic images. In this conversation with Niall, Rick takes us through his career in sailing, and discusses life before digital cameras and satellite communications onboard, and whether he was the first drone photographer. June 2020 marks the 15th anniversary of West Coast Sailing. That is 15 years of supporting the small boat and dinghy sailing community, working with and shipping packages to sailors around the world, giving back to the organizations and programs and facilitate access to sailing, and working day in day out to support your passion for getting on the water. In this video, founder George Yioulos shares a few thoughts about the early days of West Coast Sailing and about the passion that keeps us here today. We're grateful to everyone who has trusted us with their sailing needs over the years and helped shape us into the company and team we are today. We're confident the best is still to come and hope you come along for the ride. Find out more at http://westcoastsailing.net/15years
Have a look at this wonderful aluminium Bestevaer 49, called 'Katharos'. She was built in 2009 at our yard in Makkum after the design of Dykstra Naval Architects. The owner kept her in great shape only allowing our yard to maintain and work on her. Especially the interior is as new, and many visitors can't believe it is 10 years old. Thanks to her size and design she is easily sailed single handed, as the owner has done often. Her carbon rig and design interior are real eye catchers. This full-specced yacht is ready to go! Mail us on info@kmy.nl to receive the full specifications.

The inaugural RS21 North American Championships hosted by Lakewood Yacht Club featured a competitive fleet of 17 teams with 24 races sailed over 3 days. The Lucky Dog Racing Team helmed by Travis Weisleder with crew Chandler Self, Marcus Eagan, and John Bowden dominated the event winning 11 of 15 races sailed. The final day was separated into Gold and Silver fleet sailing 3 races each. Despite a convincingly consistent regatta, winning with a race to spare, Weisleder continued to win the final two races. John Lovell and Glenn Darden entered the last race tied for second place overall, leaving the prized podium spots up for grabs. Rounding the last mark on top of one another, Lovell pulled the bowsprit early resulting in a penalty from the umpires allowing Darden to comfortably sail to second place. The host club was well represented with helm Danny Plestch in 4th and Casey Lambert winning a tiebreaker for 5th. The format for the RS21 North Americans was designed to provide fast pace exhilarating racing while being able to fly in, press a button to launch the RS21, and go sailing. Event PRO Ed Furry with Sail22.com designed the format in conjunction with event organizers which allowed 24 races to be sailed over the 3 days. Mark Set Bots were used for the event with staff as on site sponsored by Harken, using these revolutionary GPS based marks made the regatta possible with flawless course movement and minimizing delays. The club gave the good old “Texas Welcome” as much as they could while considering CDC guidelines, competitors were provided daily delicious lunches, free beer courtesy of RS Sailing and KO Sailing, and cocktails with Regatta Premium Craft Mixers. Competitor’s all praised the experience as a model for ensuring competitive sailboat racing without the many complications with a normal regatta. Lakewood Yacht Club had a vision to bring exactly this sort of event to the Texas area to attract sailors to their club. The board of directors worked with local RS Sailing dealer KO Sailing and their combined vision delivered the fleet of RS21 in what may be the best small keelboat fleet setup in the world. KO Sailing has also been immaculately maintaining the fleet of RS21 while offering on the water support during the RS21 North American Championships and other events. Thank you to all of the event sponsors; RS Sailing, Sail22, Harken, Regatta Premium Craft Mixers, KO Sailing, Blackburn Marine, Sea Lake Yachts, Pelican Insurance Agency, Severance Insurance Agency. There are many factors for community sailing centers and yacht clubs to consider before starting an adaptive sailing program or re-starting existing adaptive programming in a COVID-19 environment. A group of experienced adaptive sailing programmers will discuss these considerations LIVE on The Starboard Portal on Tuesday, June 23 at 2pm EDT / 11am PDT. The panel will share their plans for restarting programs for persons with disabilities in the current pandemic and there will be time for questions from the participating audience. They will also discuss the importance of getting persons with disabilities back on the water. Adaptive sailing for some people is the only sport they can participate and compete in totally on their own. The panel will address the challenges organizations face and how they are assessing, modifying, and mitigating sailing programs by changing procedures, policies, and approaches to sailing. Adaptive Sailing Panel: -Spencer Raggio: Y-Knot Adaptive Sailing (Lake George, NY) -Chris Naughton: Bay Area Association of Disabled Sailors (BAADS) (San Francisco, CA) -Rich White: Clearwater Community Sailing Center (Clearwater, FL) -Andrew Alletag: Community Boating Inc. (Boston, MA) -Pauline Dowell: Boston Blind Sailing, Inc. (Boston, MA) -Betsy Alison (Moderator): Adult Director at US Sailing and former US Sailing Team Paralympic Coach

Our final CopperCoat update. Has our CopperCoat antifoul nightmare finally ended? Watch the video to find out. Since 2016 we’ve had CopperCoat problems. With two failed CopperCoat antifoul applications and two touch-up jobs, we thought there was no hope. In a last-ditch effort to find a resolution, the head of CopperCoat UK flew to Grenada. He came to oversee one final antifoul application. If one of the owners of CopperCoat wasn’t able to get it to work then we could once and for all blame the product manufacturer rather than the boatyard application attempts.
