Anna took the sailing world by storm over a decade ago when she captured the Gold Medal in the Laser Radial at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. She was dominant in the Laser Radial and on the Women's Match Racing circuit. Thanks to her performances in those classes, Anna won an unprecedented, four-consecutive Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year Awards (2008-2011). More recently, Anna paired with Olympian Paris Henken in the 49erFX to campaign for the Tokyo 2020 Games. On Tuesday, June 23, US Sailing announced that Men’s 470 team, Stu McNay (Providence, R.I.) and Dave Hughes (Miami, Fla.), officially earned selection to the Tokyo 2020 U.S. Olympic Sailing Team and nominated to Team USA. As Olympic veterans, McNay and Hughes have a long history of success in the Men’s 470 class. Tokyo 2020 will be McNay and Hughes’ fourth and second Games as athletes, respectively. Together, the team finished fourth overall at the 2016 Rio Games and has stood on the podium in several major international events over the years.

Filmed on February 20, 2020 as part of the Herreshoff Marine Museum Lecture Series Hold Fast is a young adult, historical novel in the vein of Kidnapped. Based on a true story, it combines brutal storytelling and a poignant sense of humor. It follows the lives of two Italian boys pressed into service on the HMS Deptford in 1762 while on a family-trading voyage with their uncle. The story chronicles their lives on board as well as the discovery of longitude and the relentless shelling of Fort Morro during the Battle of Havana. In the end, the main character develops deep New England roots and a connection to Bristol. The authors will discuss the process of writing collaboratively, doing historical research, and transforming a paragraph from an 1886 family chronicle into an adventure story for young readers. Marshall Highet is a professor and writer. Her YA sci-fi novel Spare Parts was published in 2014. Spare Parts also has an educational bent and Marshall has worked in tandem with middle school, high school, and college educators to create a syllabus that pairs with the book. She lives in Pittsburgh with her family and two rescue dogs. Bird Jones is a faculty Emerita from Elon University. She has written extensively for academic journals as well as publishing an oral history of a small town in Maine. Her teaching and scholarship has taken her to far-flung parts of the world. She is an avid sailor and spends as much time as possible with her husband on their boat in Newport.

Triton Bay and Raja Ampat are widely considered as the pinnacles of the planet's marine biodiversity. These two destinations lie within a coastal region known as the Bird's Head Seascape in the eastern part of Indonesia which is home to over 1,700 species of fish, more than 600 species of coral, and 17 different species of whales and dolphins. We've put this combination of locations together with the hope that we will have a very exclusive experience of snorkeling with whale sharks in Triton Bay in combination with some incredible reef snorkeling in Raja Ampat.

This year it happened again that the wind vane in the mast top had some issues. So I decided to replace it completely instead of repair it again. This is a short video showing how to climb a 13 meter mast in a bit more than one minute :-) and remove the wind vane including cable (in exchange to a pilot line).
