2019 saw what may well be the last ever edition of the 95 year old Fastnet Race as we know it. That made it extra special to have five of our Dazcats entered and finishing at home. Episodes 1 - 3 take you from the pre-race preparations, the thrill of the start, the pain of light winds and current...and finally to this epic heavy-weather battle up to the rock then a flying reach back home. The two 1495's are locked into an almighty match race as they round the rock almost neck and neck - the heat is definitely on to see who will make it home first... For full information about the boats and crews you can read about it in our Fastnet special edition newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/fcfe906d756c/five-dazcats-in-august-3rd-fastnet-find-out-all-about-the-boats-crews With many thanks to local musicians Land of the Giants and John Fairhurst for supplying the excellent tunes. In this video we are preparing our boat to travel the four counties ring. We plan to complete this 110 mile, 94 locks trip in 17 days. It's our first long trip out in the boat. We're really looking forward to it! We’re Stephen and Kayleigh an English/ Scottish couple and along with our two dogs Hugo and Coco we will full time on board our 37ft narrowboat Grayswood. After living nearly two years in our self-converted campervan we decided we needed more space. So, as a compromise (Ste wanted a boat, I was happy in the van) we decided we would purchase a boat after spending some time on our friend’s narrowboat. Grayswood was conveniently located less that 5 minutes from my work and was found kind of by accident. I was visiting a friend who was staying in Aston Marina and whilst we were out walking the dogs, I seen the advert for Grayswood. I said to my friend “that looks a nice boat” and as I said it the marina manager appeared and asked if we would like a look inside. Naturally we did. After looking inside, the boat I texted Ste and told him I’d found us a boat. We made an offer after going back for a second viewing, after some negotiations within a week she was ours pending a survey. She was hauled out the following week and the survey went well. We kept her out on the hard standing for a further six weeks whilst we renovated the insides including fitting a new kitchen and bathroom. Subscribe and welcome aboard - follow us on our narrowboat journey, where we will show what its really like living on the English waterways. New video released every Monday. Triumph Scrambler & Husqy FE350 take on east county San Diego-a dual sport camp-out adventure. Ep12.
Barrett and I escape to east county San Diego on our motorcycles. A good portion of the trip was off-road and we put the Scrambler on its 2nd test run. We pack up all of our food, camp gear and necessities for 26 hours. A beautiful get-away.
Novice sailers take the boat out for the first time into open waters moving to another marina.

We are about to embark on an adventure of a different kind. We need your help with suggestions to name our sailboat. If we choose the name you suggest, we will have you out on the boat for the day barbecuing, hanging out, and sailing! Ready, set, go!

These are just some quick things that I had to do to my boat. Some require good fiberglass and sanding skills. Others are as simple as re-bedding hardware. Granted my boat was stupid light and needed weight added. and It was also thrown 150 meters by a Tornado. Some of these tips are useful for all boats others ,Not so much. Enjoy. I forgot to add the mast base area into the cut and fill solid. But I think it should be done.
This week we wake up after a bit of rolly night in a not so protected anchorage. We unfortunately can't go to shore on the private island that we anchored off, instead we find our own deserted patch of sand surrounded by reef and clear water not too far away. Then take our home back to the protected Tobago Cays to enjoy a calm anchorage. We are also looking for crew to join in the future journey. Conquering one challenge now onto the next! The world is closing... What do we do? Where do we go? https://www.sailingnandji.com/ This video was filmed in March as the global covid-19 pandemic took off. We left Thailand on the last day of our visas and at this stage the Malaysian border remained open. India and Sri Lanka had closed and Indonesia was threatening to do so. It was important we reach Langkawi as quick as we can so we would not be stuck at sea... If you would like to contribute towards Nandj videos, please use this link. Thank you. http://paypal.me/SailingNandji If you are getting something out of our videos, please become a Patron to help support our production and adventures. Get Unseen footage, Exclusive vids and engage with us more personally! http://www.patreon.com/Nandji In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we are up early with the sunrise and head out under sail, close reaching the final 15 nautical miles to Langkawi, Malaysia. Countries were beginning to drastically implement new laws and regulations and us sailors are the most vulnerable. We are hoping to reach a safe harbour before Malaysia shuts the border and we are not exiled at sea. This were changing daily but everything was very new back then and were hopeful that this would not be for long. We continued on with our plans to prepare to leave to Indonesia and we rushed around collecting packages and preparing Nandji for the Indian Ocean. The ladies provision the boat ready for 6 months of sailing and we are waiting on our visas for Indo to be ready and then we are off! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed on our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! In this weeks episode we go through a VERY wide range of emotions! We flip flop between extreme frustration and extreme cheer and relief. Well at least Khiara was relieved... In a nutshell, we have put days and days of blood sweat and tears into getting the drive train perfect and in our first decent test run having just perfected the alignment and installed the Bruntons Sigma Drive we hear an odd knocking noise... We quickly dive on the propeller to discover that all of a sudden the Cutless bearing has developed some movement, seemingly overnight. Adams initial reaction is to fix the problem and hence we booked a haul-out... though after working over the problems and running it over and over with a few of the neighbors he was convinced that it is not a problem worthy of the $500 USD haul out fee and that further investigation (read Sailing) is required. Much to Khiaras delight the haul-out is postponed and we agreed to see if we can carry a less than perfect Cutless bearing through to our next scheduled haulout. Oh and the new anchorage was pretty great too! La Coruna is a beautiful place to relax for a few days after having such a crazy Biscay crossing! We go exploring, stock up on some yummy fresh Spanish food and enjoy the gorgeous clear blue waters. The kiddos discover the joys of halyard swings and we discover the not so fun problem with diesel bug, which makes us very late leaving for our sail to Vigo and we have to pass Cape Finisterre in the dark....hey ho what will be will be. #anchorchain#problemsontheboat#sailmaker#railwaybermuda We have to be awake at night to check the lines as it was blowing 53 knots with the Tropical Storm Arthur. We go "crabbing" to use as fish bait, not much luck there! Simon go and check the anchor chain and cut a few links that were corroded. We managed to find a way to perform the Code Zero better, adding an extra block at the front. We go for a walk on the most beautiful Railway trail in Bermuda. One of the most beautiful ones we have done. We had a huge disappointment with the Sailmaker, one not to go to. We don't recommend his work if you are in Bermuda.Steve at Ocean Sails wasn't very honest to us. For as little as 4$ a MONTH you get 8 videos. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon

When sailors arrived in Sabang in March 2020 to attend the 2020 Sabang Marine Festival, they were told that this year the Festival was postponed until September (insisting it was not cancelled). Sailors were then strongly encouraged to leave the area as CoVid shut down was implemented. A few sailors planned to sail to Malaysia but before they had a chance to depart, Malaysia as well as Thailand closed their borders so the only possible option was to stay in Sabang. After an inordinately long 3-months of confinement onboard, they were finally permitted to freely circulate ashore and reminded to keep social distancing & wearing masks in close-proximity. Sabang, being an island, is isolated from the mainland because the local airport is too small for regular flights and only one ferry-line operates. Only a few suspected CoVid cases turned out to not being infected at all so the local population luckily does not have to strictly follow the questionable (as they are by many online) draconian social distancing rules. The sailors in July finally had a chance to discover the points of interest around Sabang as you see in this short video. Filmed 9 July 2020. As nearby borders are still being shut down, will the sailors be still stranded here in September, for the postponed Festival? :)
