Our last days of sailing the Pacific coast of Costa Rica are coming to the bittersweet end. We have reached the northern point and have hopes to check out of the country and sail to Mexico. Before we leave, we anchor in a small little bay where we swim, snorkel and see a big beautiful whale shark! It was a surprise encounter that none of us were expecting to see. Warren nearly swam out of his swim trucks in shock when he saw it. We arrived to Marina Papagayo in Costa Rica, which was the first marina we had been to in 3 months since leaving Panama City. It was also the first time that we had been anywhere on land with other people since the beginning of the pandemic. Needless to say, there was a lot of excitement to have a land burger, drinks and life on land before we take off on our longest passage to date. On this episode, we start the process of clearing out of the Costa Rica in hopes to arrive and be accepted into Mexico. We had awesome weeks there and it made a world of difference for us to recover here from many months of extended lockdown followed by summer heat back home. This video is also the first that I filmed almost entirely on my new GoPro Max. I love the angles it can show and the possibilities the GoPro Max opens op. The video was edited by me into regular 16:9 format for easier viewing. I'm definitely going to use the GoPro Max for more actions sports soon! I'm pretty sure it's going to be a game changer for all those videos that will come out in the future where I am working on my kitefoiling skills or kitesurfing in some cool locations!! New York Yacht Club American Magic, a Challenger for the 36th America's Cup, took delivery of its second AC75 racing yacht at its Auckland base on Friday, September 4th, 2020. The yacht is named PATRIOT, and will succeed the team's first AC75, DEFIANT. After being trucked from the team's production facility in Bristol, Rhode Island, to T.F. Green Airport in Providence, PATRIOT was strapped into the cargo bay of an AN-124 transport aircraft, one of the largest in the world. After departing Providence with the AC75, several tons of equipment and American Magic team member Trevor Davidson onboard, the AN-124 made refueling stops in Chicago and Honolulu before landing in Auckland. Behind the scenes of cruising life there is a huge heaping pile of kind-hearted souls providing support and helping us through rough patches. These people are always ready to lend a hand with a project or boat fix, give advice, share knowledge and resources, and be a listening ear when the challenges are mounting and some good quality venting is much needed (We LOVE our life but a vacation it is not 🙃). Our support network became even more necessary during the Covid 19 pandemic. In this episode our friends Andy and Charli, having the biggest and fasted boat of our group, leave the Ragged Islands and make a trip to Georgetown to provision, kindly bringing back food for us as well. We take precautions, wear masks and sanitize everything. Andi and Charli have made quite the sacrifice and will have to quarantine now before re-joining the group activities. We are beyond grateful to them. Later on we get lucky again when our other friends, Ryan and Jerra, who will become part of the core Covid 19 crew, arrive from Saint Martin and bring food for us as well. The beauty of the Bahamas is truly remarkable and in this episode, Bill and I take it in from the perspective of our kayak and paddle board. Hello everybody !!!!! During this pandemic, all the ports in different countries have implemented strict regulations regarding the Crew transfer. Shore leaves are cancelled and in most of the ports none of the crew members are allowed to go out. When the vessel is at port(loading or discharging) only chief officer is allowed to go out on the jetty for draft check, and this has been same everywhere since Jan 2020. But this time, when we arrived at Map Ta Phut Thailand, we were informed that during port stay even the duty off could go out for draft check. So it was my chance to go out. This is the story of me stepping on Land after 6 months !!!!! And yes it felt really different. My wishes are with all the Seafarers around the World, those who all are stuck onboard. Keep your spirits high guys, and like they say “ This too shall pass away “. I hope all the countries will account Seafarers as Key Workers and Crew change will happen at every port.
