There have been many offerings to Neptune today for those celebrating the crossing of the equator. Meanwhile, skippers in the southern hemisphere have been taking the opportunity to do a bit of laundry and freshen-up, a first for some after 12 days of racing.

When you sail a fast boat like the Nacra 17 things can go wrong very quickly and after almost a decade of sailing catamarans I can assure you things will go wrong. Especially when you are learning how to sail the boat in extreme conditions. Foiling is the edge of the sailing sport. But the edge between a state of flow and a crash is razor sharp. Most of the time it is very difficult to capture the speed on video but when you see the Nacra crashing into a wave, 30 knots to 0 in two Meters, you really can see the pure awesomeness of sailing. Well, is it dangerous? Of course it is! It’s not like you are getting hurt every time you capsize, but there is not one single team in the fleet who hadn’t had a big injury. Especially the foils down the rudders can be a bit nasty. But no sailors where hurt during the making of that video. And while flying around the boat getting some unusual views of the trim and all that stuff, I think to myself, what a wonderful world. Sailing is great! We just started to learn how to foil. Our favorite manufacturer GONG had only a long, 90cm GONG ALLVATOR mast available. First experiments behind our Dinghy (Zodiac) showed... We needed a shorter mast for success. So we decided to cut our mast back to a more manageable length (65cm). Hit the Bell Button 🔔 to be informed when the next video comes out. Delos has sailed to deserted beaches, tropical jungle rivers, and even bustling cities. And now we find ourselves in the amazing State of Maine, at our very own private island! After dodging a mine field of lobster floats we finally arrive at our new home for the next few weeks- our very own private island in Maine! With deep water around us it's the perfect introduction to this magnificent cruising ground and a great place to do our mandatory self-quarantine. We begin exploring the island and planning for Sierra's 1st birthday, only to find that a tropical storm is hot on our heels. We batten down the hatches and prepare Delos for the blow, which arrives during The Little Nugget's party. PS- A very special thanks to Jordan, crew from our 1st Caribbean season, for the incredible job helping to put this episode together. We love ya' Jordan :) If you enjoy our channel please subscribe! We wrapped up our 2 months refit at the Boatyard in San Carlos, Mexico. We finished some electrical work and got some welding work done. We upgraded our cruising comfort with new princess seats in the cockpit, nice swim steps and new handlebars on the transom of our Catalina 34. We got a brand new rudder and renamed the boat. Lastly, we slapped a quick coat of paint before we got her wet!

Let's do this! It's time to start the rebuild of our Salvaged Beneteau Sailboat. With several hundred pounds of supplies from Raka.com we're armed with what we need to get the job done. Sailing in a poorly charted area of Indonesia not mentioned in guide books means finding a new way to navigate. Our ability to seek out and find remote isolated anchorages has been transformed by the use of satellite images for navigation. In this episode we share how using satellite images and eyeball navigation makes it possible to find remote un-spoilt locations to explore on the edge of the Indian Ocean. Destinations which are not in any travel guides and quite possibly have never been visited by sailing yachts before. How to navigate without charts: Using satellite images to navigate instead of a chart is becoming more common in the cruising world. Navigating via a photo and what you can see with your eyes may sound daunting at first to those used to well charted waters, but once you get used to this new navigation method it opens up whole new areas for exploration. We are a British couple who set off from England in 2016 to fulfill our dream of sailing around the world on our 37ft sail boat, Florence. Along the way we share the live aboard lifestyle with the highs and lows of travelling around the world by boat, our own little tiny house. Boat life out at sea on the ocean and off the grid. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. #boating #outatsea In this this video we will show you tricks to get your anchor off the seabed if it is stuck. How to get your anchor free from an offending anchor chain and how to get free from a lobster pot or fishing net. Special thank you to Greenville from Hamble Lifeboat for sharing some of the techniques. https://hamblelifeboat.co.uk/ Hamble Lifeboat was formed by Hamble residents in 1968 as the Southampton Water Inshore Rescue Service (Hamble Rescue). This was in response to the number of casualties occurring in Southampton Water and the Rivers Hamble, Itchen and Test, which had increased to 19 deaths in one year. The RNLI, who at the time had boats stationed at Yarmouth and Bembridge, were approached but had no boat suitable for the area. The nature of the area meant something fast, powerful and capable of operating in shallow water was needed. Thanks for watching! Please subscribe and leave a comment. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love

3 novembre, 5 heures quarante : - « Hey Tchoupi ! On ne s’est pas levé ! » - « Ah oui, mais qu’est-ce que l’on a à faire ? » - « Ben, occasionnellement, aller en Afrique du Sud ! »…

Yes! We recycled an ex-72ft delivery main into a beautiful 2m square top main for our beloved Paikea. Time and budget restrictions meant we couldn't afford to buy batten receptacles so guess what? We 3D printed them !!! If you are interested in the process or want to ask more make sure to leave a comment as we are happy to answer any questions about the process. Finally, we are able to sail without the motors running. It feels so goooood and I think that she definitely looks like she will live up to the reputation these cats have as a fast performance cruiser.
