🇫🇷 Fin de course difficile pour Armel Tripon qui a été contraint de ralentir vendredi dernier au large des côtes espagnoles pour laisser passer une violente dépression hivernale. Sous une pluie battante, 30 nœuds de vent et avec des vagues de plus de 5 mètres, Armel Tripon a franchi la ligne d'arrivée dans l'obscurité, au petit matin du lundi. Il était temps : le skipper de L'Occitane en Provence n'avait presque plus rien à manger. 🇬🇧 A tough finish for Armel Tripon who was forced to slow down last Friday off the Spanish coast to let a violent winter depression pass by. In pouring rain, 30 knots of wind and with waves over 5 metres, Armel Triponcrossed the finish line in the dark, in the early hours on Monday morning. We discovered that the shaft was bent and needed straightening, which in turn rapidly wore out our cutlass bearing. After removing the drive system and cutlass bearing months ago, the new cutlass finally arrived in the post. Without a machine to press the cutlass in, I get creative and Macguiver that puppy home. With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace as we have our first baby on the way to be born overseas! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! John Conway of @svfelurian got some great drone shots of us weighing anchor in the fog of the morning. We made a 10 nm passage to a secret surf spot that John frequents and me and John paddled out (the 1/2 mile paddle to the spot and back to Felurian had me hurting for days hahaha) Once I was back on board Camille went for a snorkel exploring the rocks in low visibility. Once we were done with our lunch hook both boats hauled up and we headed for Yellowbanks where we were racing a fog bank to get anchored before it swallowed us up. Wir haben beschlossen, wieder regelmäßig auf YouTube tätig zu sein. Warum? Weil es uns Spaß macht :-) Wir können in einem Video schönere, bessere Aufnahmen zeigen. Wir bewegen uns von der Westküste langsam in den Norden der Insel. Unser Stellplatz liegt bei den Thermalquellen von Kaiafas dort besuchen wir ein verlassenes Kurgebäude. Ein Beachcleanup erinnert uns mal wieder deutlich daran, dass wir im Alltag so gut es geht auf Plastik verzichten sollten. Zum Ende der Woche gibts für uns noch eine Premiere. Vi fejrer vi nytåret med de andre danske både på stranden på Barbados, inden vi sejler videre til St. Vincent og Grenadinerne. Vi bruger tiden konstruktivt i den obligatoriske karantænetid på grund af corona med praktiske opgaver, hygge, fitness og godt humør!

If you had to spend 14 days "self isolating" upon entering the state of Maine, can you picture a better way to spend it than on a private island?!?! We got really lucky this past August as our friends on S/V Delos were offered the use of an island off the coast of Port Clyde, Maine. This idyllic spot became home base for evening drinks and dinner with the crew. Exactly like TTYC... except a bit more civilized with a floating dock we didn't have to burn the trash 🙃. After checking out the sweet cabin with it's gorgeous wood construction and a wide deck to hang out on we get down to the business of finding lobsters for dinner. You can't cruise Maine without at least one lobstah dinner! Keeping with the seafood theme, the next day at low tide we set out to collect mussels attached to the rocks hidden under the kelp. As a group we collect a whopping 140+ mussels. It is so fun to live off the sea. We decide to have an impromptu mussel cook-off. Ciao Amici! Bentornati sul Giugyssima! Con il video di oggi inauguro il Giugyssima Book Club nel quale, alla fine di ogni mese, condividerò con voi tutti i libri che ho letto durante il mese. Gennaio é stato un mese particolarmente florido per le mie letture, infatti sono riuscita a leggere 12 libri, di cui 7 di narrativa e 5 non-fiction, di crescita personale. Non tutti i mesi sono uguali e gennaio é stato speciale a causa del lockdown in Danimarca, ma leggere tutti i giorni mi ha fatto molto bene. In ogni caso, questo é un luogo in cui confrontarsi sui libri e motivarsi a leggere, non c'é nessuna competizione a chi legge di più 😊 Lasciatemi un commento per farmi sapere cosa ne pensate di questo video, se secondo voi dovrei continuare con questo progetto di Book Club. Ovviamente i lavori su una barca a vela non finiscono mai, ma non essendo io un genio😂 del fai da te 😅 ho pensato di andare un po' "a bottega", come si suol dire, in un famoso cantiere qui a Le Grazie. Il cantiere Valdettaro è famoso per i suoi maestri d'ascia e per la sua lunga tradizione. E' stato fondato nel 1917 ed è diventato uno dei cantieri più importanti nel restauro di grandi yacht. In questo video vedrete dei veri professionisti ( in particolare Eugenio Bonanni che ringrazio molto per l'infinita disponibilità e gentilezza) che tentano di insegnarmi qualcosa 😅, salirete con me a bordo di VERA MARY la goletta del 1932 lunga 22 metri, che fu di Re Giorgio V; su un Baglietto di nome Bradamante, lungo 16,40 m. del 1966 e su di uno Sciarrelli di nome Virginia lungo 50 piedi, tutti fatti rigorosamente in legno e restaurati magnificamente. (il Virginia è vetroresina e teak) Poi, dopo tutte quelle ore di studio, non te lo vuoi concedere un parrucchiere e un passaggio dagli amici del Portido, la marina accanto?
