Algunos me habéis preguntado por el sembrado de antenas que llevo en popa, sobre todo por las dos largas que parecen cañas de pescar y cuando salgo a navegar también cuelgo un dipolo contado a 14200 Mhz, que me sirve para la rueda de los navegantes. ¿Realmente es necesario instalar una BLU a bordo con sistema DSC cuando hacemos navegación de altura? Para mi no es solo necesario, sino que se hace imprescindible, debido a que, en caso de emergencia, y con una posible falta de cubertura o avería del sistema satelitario, siempre tenemos la posibilidad de comunicación a larga distancia. ¿Por qué DSC?, la ventaja de que el equipo de HF este homologado e instale este sistema y se pueda integrar en el sistema GMDSS, es que en caso de emergencia apretamos el botón rojo, y la emisora estará emitiendo continuamente la señal de socorro y nos recibirá cualquier estación de salvamento y lo mas importante cualquier mercante que por ejemplo este cruzando el atlántico y compruebe por nuestra posición emitida por el sistema que se encuentra cerca entonces acudirá al rescate. La emisora emitirá: Quienes somos, Donde estamos, y que nos pasa. Continuamente, y podremos mientras tanto atender la emergencia a bordo

Episode 6: 24 hours in Mati City on Dahican Beach. We stayed the evening at Sheepy's resort and highly recommend it. Chill place that super relaxed and owned by a super laid back Australian Surfer. Dave has done a great job of creating a beautiful little resort and keeps adding to it. The beer is cold and the view and pool are amazing. We also visit Dahican Surf Resort on one top rated beaches in The Philippines. Dahican Beach is not a very traveled spot relative to the rest of the beaches and vacation spots in The Philippines. Most of the visitors are from Davao City. The rest of the country, including its two other very large cities really don't even know about Dahican Beach. This will change in the future as they are expanding the current airport which will allow larger planes to come in from Cebu and Manila. For the local surfers this is generally viewed as bad thing but it will for sure increase the economy, jobs and property values. Get to Mati while it is still relatively unknown. Here we are sailing after just passing under the opened Snake Creek Bridge back out to Florida Bay. We sunset sail east for about a hour and a half to our night anchorage after passing through the Cowpens Cut. We anchored up southeast of the north Tavernier Creek entrance markers in about 7'-0" of water. Where are the seagulls in the Florida Keys? Thanks for watching! Fair winds and Seas! John

After a week in beautiful Culebra it is time to continue on westward toward Florida. The plan is to sail around and anchor on the west side of Culebra in preparation to sail to Salinas, Puerto Rico. I have a lovely sail around to Bay Linde, but overnight strong winds, squalls, and big north swells make the anchorage unbearable, sending me back around to the well sheltered Ensenada Honda, but not without getting buffeted by some ferocious squalls. Cleaning out bilges is never a nice job and with our boat having been neglected and abandoned for so long it was a bit of a worry what horrible things we'd find lurking in the bilge under the forward water tank. After several weeks of waiting, we're going back out to sea! I'm accompanied by a new crew member who was looking to hitch a ride on a sailboat. As well I was testing the boat and new crew. So me and Peter took our boats out for the weekend with our friends to test things out before going further. We went to one of my favorite anchorages on the island and later to the natural pools of Fataxia. There are very few women out there that can do the sailing life and do the sailing life well. Erica has become a true sailor and is more and more impressive as we sail full time around the world. We head south again after a few days on a mooring ball in Puerto Escondido, near Loreto on the Sea of Cortez. The winds are ideal to keep moving along towards La Paz where we will meet up with our friends and first visiting guests of the season. Well ideal for a little while until they change on us. One of the Battles of Sailing and trying to maintain a schedule. Erica takes charge and tries new sail configurations as the wind continues to shift on us.
