A common issue with Yanmar Marine Engine panels is that they lose their LCD engine hour readings after a few years. As this is not a commonly serviceable part you are faced with either installing a new panel at $800 and resetting your engine hours, or adding a new engine hour meter, which is a clunky fix. There is however a simple $30 fix which with few tools will have your engine hour meter back and running after an hours work. In this fascinating episode Bruno gives us candid lessons from failure, analyses the success of French sailing heroes Franck Cammas and Charles Caudrelier and explains his formula for a winning team. Kurzes Hallo von der Segelyacht Maratimi. Seit drei Monaten sind wir auf den Kanaren. Von Lanzarote, Gran Canaria nach Teneriffa, sind wir jetzt auf Lo Gomera.

Im Januar haben wir die Überfahrt von La Línea, Spanien, zu den kanarischen Inseln gemacht. Wir waren besser vorbereitet als auf der Biskaya und hatten einige Segelerfahrungen machen können. Dennoch überrascht uns die Seekrankheit immer wieder und ließ auch diesen sechstägigen Törn zu einer eher anstrengenden Überfahrt vor allem für Ronald und mich werden. Die Kids waren die meiste Zeit entspannt und gut drauf. Wenn es ging, habe ich die Kamera rauf gehalten oder daneben gestellt, um euch ein paar Einblicke zu geben, wie sich bei uns eine Langfahrt mit Kindern gestaltet. Wir waren froh als wir Lanzarote erreicht haben..

Wir liegen auf Bonaire, wo wir die Hurrikansaison 2020 verbringen. Nach gut einem Monat in der Marina verholen wir endlich an eine Mooringboje. Aber wirklich endlich ??? Nur zwei Tage darauf erleben wir unseren ersten Windreversal! Und dieser war noch harmlos, wie die kommenden Wochen zeigen sollten. As I mentioned in a previous episode I have had to postpone my solo crossing of the North Pacific for one year because the boat and I are not ready. I was looking into the option of sailing across with a Crew and spend the next year training on the West Coast of Canada and sail back to Japan Solo. But alas, the hoops I had to jump through became too difficult given the short timeline. ( June is the recommended month to leave Japan waters for North American) So it's decided I will continue my training here in Japanese Waters and will spend the next several months exploring Japan's waters and a myriad of islands, beaches, and harbors.
