Extra episode - Hey guys, it's been a bit quiet here. The reason is that we decided to sell the boat to explore new horizons individually. That's why, this is our last episode. We had an amazing sailing season together, going from Almerimar in the South of Spain towards the Balearics, sailing Formentera, Ibiza and Mallorca. We are happy to share a little bit of this journey in 2021 with you in this video. This last episode of Sea Heroes Sailing is a tribute to our last months on the water. We loved the adventure and all the amazing people we met because of it. It marks the end of an era, but it is also a new beginning for the both of us. Episode 17 - Welcome to our latest episode! In this video you will see us set sail for the last time in the season before wintering our catamaran in the marina of Almerimar in Spain, We depart our anchorage in La Herradura and sail to Almerimar where we spend one night at anchor before tying off to our new home in the marina. We both deal very differently with being in a marina now full-time. For one of us, it's great. Finally, time to relax and enjoy the luxuries of land life again. Wow, is this really what it looks like? 😳 Here's some footage of our Lagoon 42 catamaran sailing from Ibiza to the mainland of Spain! Happy to share how we were surfing the waves that day at the Mediterranean Sea. This video really does a good job of showing the way the boat interacts with the waves and how she performs in these conditions. It's may seem a bit intense, but that crossing was actually superb! We had winds up to 30 knots and our max speed was over 11 knots (for the non-sailors here: we normally average around 5 knots... ) Credits for the awesome video footage go to our friend at Sailing Coco. Episode 15 - The Challenge of Sailing. Episode 14 - Sailing Portugal Algarve. Once we arrive in Algarve, we instantly meet Miquel and Saskia from Sailing Saetta and Kathi and Max from Sailing Makani. More than 1,5 months after leaving the Netherlands with our new Lagoon 42 catamaran, it is great to share experiences with other (new) liveaboard sailors. Episode 11 - After a few days of resting in Viveiro after crossing the Bay of Biscay, we decide to sail further with our catamaran. Episode 10 - It is time for our first big crossing! After spending 4 days in Roscoff, we have a great weather window that will allow us to cross the Bay of Biscay on our Lagoon 42 catamaran 💦 The Bay of Biscay is notorious for its unpredictable waves and winds. So of course, we are a bit nervous about this long passage. Luckily, we have the best conditions one could wish for! 🙌 We sail almost the whole way, only motoring for about 8 hours, with calm seas and nice winds from behind. Episode 9 - After three days of exploring Cherbourg in France we set sail again with our Lagoon 42 catamaran towards the island of Guernsey 🇬🇬 Although in lockdown, we hope we can fuel up in Guernsey in preparation for the crossing the Bay of Biscay. We know there is a lockdown, so we plan to only spend one night at anchor there, before sailing further through the English Channel. Episode 4 - In this episode we finish the last leg of the delivery of our brand new Lagoon 42 catamaran. We leave Oostende (Belgium), sail over the North Sea to IJmuiden in Netherlands and then go through the Amsterdam Rijnkanaal to get to our final destination in the north of the Netherlands to finish our sailing trip back home. Episode 3 - After waiting for the storm to pass, we set sail again to continue our trip to the Netherlands. We are getting into the sailing groove on new Lagoon 42 catamaran after quite some hours on the water. In this episode we sail almost 400 nautical miles in three days - going from Brest in France to Oostende in Belgium.
