Enfin ! c'est la dernière de la saison... Mais quelle course mes amis ! 2 jours à attendre la livraison d'essence c'est 2 jours de retard sur le planning. Résultat : retour directe à la grue en mode course, arrivée à 15h00 après une grosse navigation et un grutage prévu à 16h00. GROS STRESS en perspective, et beaucoup moins d'images que prévu... Mais bon, nous sommes arrivés à bon port c'est l'essentiel. Et reprise du boulot à la minute près! Fin de saison tardive, mais surtout... début de saison imminent. Der Urlaub ist noch keine 3 Stunden „alt“ - Salka macht einen unbedachten Schritt auf dem Schwimmponton in einer Schleusenkammer des Nord-Ostsee-Kanals und muss in Brunsbüttel ins Krankenhaus (das Bein ist noch dran und zum Glück nicht gebrochen). Täglich fallen zudem kleine Arbeiten am Boot an, so dass wir des Öfteren basteln. Zum Glück haben wir aber unsere Katze PIPPA mit, die auf der Fahrt zur wahren SKIPPA PIPPA wird - eine Freude und der Inbegriff von Gelassenheit. Was die Ziele anbelangt, entscheiden wir kurzfristig je nach Wind, Wetter und Laune unter dem Motto „Alles kann, nichts muss“. Und so erleben wir eine entspannte Zeit auf der Route #cuxhaven , #brunsbüttel , #nordostseekanal , #schleswigholsteinischeküste , #sonderburg und #dyvigbucht . Überraschend schön ist dabei ein recht ungeschützter Strandbereich nördlich der Schlei, wo wir für eine Nacht ankern. In this episode we leave the Isles of Gigha and sail through the sound of lung and arrive at Oban. It was an exciting experience through lung. It's another boatyard weekend for us this week as we prepare Ragdoll for her first launch! Throughout winter, as we took the boat apart, we realised that our steel wire steering needed to be replaced and we figured dyneema might be just the thing... Join us this week as we put our steering back together using dyneema! There are a number of reasons as to why we chose dyneema rather than replacing it with steel wire again, however, we will make a more in-depth video on that soon - once we've sailed Ragdoll a little bit & we see how this performs! Hello Everyone! In Season 2 Episode 46, we were having issues with our Glow Plugs and Fuel Shut off switch. We have an old 1987 72hp Mercedes Mani-Diesel engine and they had both all of a sudden stopped working. We began by investigating the power connection and wires running from the control panel to the engine. We discovered that when Nathalie had replaced one of our Engine Mounts, some of the wires had disconnected. This was due to corrosion on the engine harness due to a leak from our raw water pump. To fix this we bypassed the engine harness and then the next step was to check the relays to see if they were still working. Unfortunately, we forgot to film the process of using ohm's to test the relay, which thanks to Raf on Spear It Animal, we were able to discover that both our relays had gone bad for both the Glow Plugs and Fuel Shut Off Switch. This video goes over the steps we used and how we fixed our problems. If you have any tips or suggestions we are always all ears!! She is fairly comfortable with 15 to 20 kts of wind. Freshwater capacity to last over 2 weeks and a fuel range of 13 days steaming. About the Boat ''SY Red Current'' is a Southerly 31 with the construction of GRP and rigged as a sloop with Aluminium Mast. Her LOA is 31 feet and she has a beam of 10 feet with a draft of 7 feet. She also has an electric swing keel which makes her draft very shallow and easy to enter in shallow water. this episode I head 14 hours drive southward for the snowy mountains of Perisher valley to process all that has changed in my life recently. I must say it was a great way to transmute all that I was feeling as I went to the snow only 1 day after Emily and I separated. nothing like doing something completely new to activate different parts of you brain and to move out of unhealthy thoughts. after the snow trip with my legend of a friend lex. a few days after arriving home dad invited me onboard his boat in the Whitsundays as he was already up there and ready to adventure. I jumped on the opportunity to spend time on the ocean again as I wasn't quite ready to head back out to sea by myself. I much preferred join my dad and my closest friends on his boat!
