The time has come for us to say goodbye... After sailing nearly 30,000 miles together, Grace has decided to not sail this passage and will meet Calico Skies in Panama giving new crew the opportunity to log some offshore miles. After saying goodbye the boys don't waste any time digging into our large to do list before heading out to sea. First up is showing the guys the "ropes" so to speak...walking them through the many sail control lines we have on Calico Skies. Due to our numerous sail configurations there is an added level of complexity. Next up is getting off the dock so we can give the bottom a good scrubbing. Our first leg will have us motoring 300 miles to windward and we don't want any excess drag. On our last evening at anchor we enjoy a nice dinner & drinks onboard. The first order of business upon waking up on the morning of departure is lifting and securing the dinghy on the foredeck..and just like that anchor is up and we are off! Want more? WE absolutely LOVE these two. They fill our hearts with love and put a giant smile on our face. Meet Jon and Jadonna, a couple from Jacksonville who took their sailboat north during the pandemic for a little joy ride. They ended up being stuck at Whittaker point with us due to some work they needed done on their boat and we were able to help them out a bit and send them on their way. This updates my progress in trying to ship my boat Golden Haze to the Caribbean in the coming weeks. It will be shipped hopefully by Peters & May - https://www.petersandmay.com/en/ YACHT SHIPPING LIMITED Have told me they will not be visiting Antigua or Martinique so I am now waiting to hear only from Peters and May... who have a window in November....I get the impression they need more boats to come forward to make the voyage worth while and I need to be 100% certain they will in fact go to either Martinique or Antigua - They are pushing St Thomas in the American Virgin islands and that is impossible for me! Quite a complicated project! and the onset of winter makes it harder for me to get Golden Haze from Boulogne to Southampton to be loaded. My books are available to download from: http://www.gentlesailing.com
Now that the main repairs have been accomplished, we leave our friends home dock in Annapolis and head south...we have some more improvements which are necessary for successful cruising, especially with our ground tackle, so we stop just south of Annapolis to continue the work, just Amy and I! We are hoping that the marina has good wifi so Amy can move back aboard and continue our voyaging. Yes it is, so maybe take over an existing, thriving business, now there's a thought. Some places are so beautiful it seems impossible that they exist in real life. And yet, here it is. Saksun, a tiny village of just a dozen people in an incredibly protected valley on the northern edge of Steymoy in the Faroe Islands. And what better time to see this magical place than the Summer Solstice. We also travel back to Sweden to our hostel on Gotland to work during the short Swedish summer season and a late celebration of Gittes birthday with family and friends and since several of them has not been on Gotland before we take them out for som sight seeing. Another great moment that we share with you is when we went to the mainland to the city of Gothenburg and had a meet up with our new good friends in Sailing Capella. 0:15 Projects at Varadoiro do Xufre 8:26 Time to travel home to Gotland 8:51 Our summer in Sweden 9:27 Visit in Gothenburg and Sailing Capella 12:57 Gotland 15:01 Medieval festival 15:35 Back at the boat yard in Xufre We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. The sailing in our home water the Baltic Sea is part of our preparation to sail to the Mediterranean Sea. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.

What is like to spend 24 hours at Sea? this is the beginning of our passage sailing from Malaysia to Indonesia https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode, let the journey begin! We leave Malaysia after spending the last 18 months in the country. We were stuck, have worked crazy hard completing a second refit to our boat and then had a baby. Lock down after lockdown, Nandji is finally free and on the move again! We have a 700 nautical mile sail to reach our check in port of Padang, Indonesia. The first part of the journey involves crossing the bust shipping channel, the Malacca Strait. This is area is protected from the open ocean ground swell but it is close to the equator and large unexpected squalls can happen at anytime. Picking a gap in the monsoon winds, we begun the dash across to Indonesia. We were lucky to have the perfect weather forecast window for this passage. Nothing else to say, let's go! On to the next chapter of our lives! If you are enjoying our videos, sign up to Patreon to help support us, our production and the adventures. Final preparations for the world rally, it looks like we will finish all action points before the departure on September 27. Tina arrives and joins us during the Outremer Week trainings. And then it's time to sail. Instead of the normal Outremer Cup we will sail 3 rounds. It's not a race ..... On the other side it does help to find out where we can add more improvements.
The adventure continues as we visit world famous George Town Bahamas, the boys find pirate gold on their birthday and we visit the amazing Hermitage on Mt. What is life like living “on the hard” and why are we doing this? While a boat on the hard is like a duck out of water, hauling out is an essential part of boat ownership. And, since the concept is foreign to us as well as many of our viewers, we thought it would be helpful to create a video that explains what this “living on the hard” stuff means. In this video, we will answer the following questions: 1. What does it mean to be “on the hard”? 2. Where are we? 3. Why did we choose to haul out here? 4. Why do we have to be "on the hard?" 4. How long will we be “on the hard”? 5. What is it like to live “on the hard?” Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoy this episode! #sailing #sailboat #sailingprojects NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US?
