We desperately needed to replace our tiny little Bimini on the fly bridge on our Lagoon 450 catamaran, so when we started designing our new hard top, we decided that we would try get as many solar panels as we could up there. But instead of building the hard top them mounting the panels on top, we would make the frame then use the panels themselves to make the hard top. This would bring our total solar power capacity to 3kW on the boat! This option would save us thousands of dollars, and also leave us a little more head room, as the boom would end up very close to the hard top. The panels were given to us as a gift by Curtis from www.sunbeam-energy.com. Amongst all of the work, there were also definitely some shenanigans, where we met up with 4 other YouTube sailing channels for a bit of a party! We're stepping foot on multiple million dollar yachts - and taking all their great ideas!! Annapolis Boat Show 2021 is in full swing, and just like any other visitor, Matt and I are there to talk to vendors and tour all the boats we wish we could claim as our own. But in honesty, we're still very excited to be working on the build of our own catamaran - just incorporating some design aspects of the higher end builds out there. At the Annapolis show, we try to tour as many catamarans as possible, gaining every idea of what we might like as a home builder. What we realized in the process, is that although the Outremer 45 is the closest to the Max Cruise in space and design layout (in the hulls), the Balance 485 and 526, as well as the Kinetic 54, are closest to the build materials we're using, as well as their minimalistic design. Take a tour with us as we walk through these different boats, and take away the things we would like to add to our catamaran build. Über die Ostsee nach Wendtorf | Wir treffen zum ersten Mal auf eine Regatta! Moin! Die Überfahrt geht weiter! Wir haben nun schon die Hälfte der Strecke geschafft und sind bisher nicht nass geworden. Vorbei an der Kieler Förde treffen wir zum ersten Mal auf eine Regatta und die ganz großen Pötte, mit denen wir von nun an unser Heimatmeer teilen werden. Schön, dass du hier bist! Wir, Emely und Tjark, haben uns den Traum vom eigenen Segelboot erfüllt, eine Maxi84, relativ spontan und ohne das ganz große Geld. Das Boot müssen wir noch umtaufen auf den Namen Meera. Wir nehmen dich mit auf unsere Reise von blutigen Anfängern zu hoffentlich passablen Seglern. Bevor wir uns in die Wellen stürzen können, liegt noch ein Berg an Arbeit vor uns. Umbauten, Änderungen und vor allem der Sportbootführerschein müssen erledigt werden. Außerdem müssen wir noch lernen richtig zu segeln. Du kannst dich also schon auf die nächsten Videos freuen!
