Sorry for the absence these last few weeks. Its been a bit of a balancing act these last few months and it all caught up with me! However, i am back and trying to find more 'balance' in my life. We started this day out by heading to Trecastell Circles. These were near an old Roman fort and were a meeting place during agricultural events and one was even a burial mound! We then head to Carn Goch Iron Age Fort- for some more history (and a lot more rain). This was a fascinating place to be and the views were epic. The last place on the list was Pwll-y-merched on the River Amman. Submersing myself in cold river water is a fail safe way to reset my mind and allow me to properly breathe. I really recommend it. Our prop fell apart see leaving us to sail over 100 nautical miles back to port in the doldrums... https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode, we make the decision on where we should try and sail too for repairs. As we have sailed in circles but are now getting closer to our destination, we can start using the dinghy outboard to try and motor us sparingly towards land. Life in the doldrums is full of long periods of light winds, throw in an opposing current it is difficult to make headway. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. Strangford Sailing club kicked off the annual Narrows Series with their annual regatta. The IRC1 fleet had a strong turn out with seven boats set to contest the 3 race series. It was great to have a visiting Scottish boat over for the weekend. If Animal's ( GBR 3627L ) result in the warm up Bar Buoy Race was anything to go by they were going to be tough to beat. After a crazy start of Strangford Sailing club were GTR raced directly away from the first mark to build a big lead the fleet came back together after a 30 minute glass out. The racing was super tight with 40 seconds covering the first 3 boats, leaving all to play for over the next two days. Die Bootssuche für Christoph und Tatiana geht in die zweite Runde. In unserer Folge #47 haben sie sich für die Contest 46 entschieden. Sie war gegenüber der Jeanneau 47cc der klare Favorit. Also sind wir wieder angerückt nach Südfrankreich zum Gutachten und Testsegeln. Wir haben ja schon viele Unterwasserschiffe gesehen - eine Contest gehört konstruktiv jedenfalls zu den spannendsten. Die Rumpfform ist bemerkenswert bauchig mit einem Flügelkiel. Ebenso bemerkenswert ist bei dieser 46er das Gewicht. Locker 7 Tonnen hat sie im Vergleich zur Leergewichtsangabe zu viel auf der Waage. Das hat man beim Segeln auch ganz gut an der beachtlichen Bugwelle sehen können. Jedenfalls gibt es folgende Themen: natürlich das (kaputte) Teakdeck, die Wanten (aka Algenzucht) und eine mysteriöse Delle im Rumpf. Leider konnten die beiden nicht dabei sein - wir hatten trotzdem wieder jede Menge Spaß. Also los geht's und bis zum nächsten Mal!
