Hey Gang! This is the final installment in the 3 part series of our Solar Installation on Reverie. We went with a combination of Full River AGM Batteries and Bluetti Lithium Power Generator. This was an important part of our sailboat restoration. On this episode we are installing our new Full River Battery Bank. We went with Full River 12V 105AH Batteries. We installed a set of 4 batteries in parallel that provide us with 420AH at 12V. Based on Don Casey's books he recommends treating your Lead Acid batteries as if they were Lithium. So our plan is to use our new battery bank planning on discharge of 50% - 80%. If were to do this at 80% discharge consistently, we would only lose about 8-9% of the overall battery life over time. For the price of the batteries, we can live with that. Now that said, our house bank is there for our lighting, electronics, pumps, cooktop and supporting an inverter for our computers and other small draw equipment. So with solar constantly charging the bank, I think it would hard for us to discharge more than 50% on a regular basis. That said, we would go as far as 80% as needed. Our refrigerator for Reverie is a Dometic CFX Dual Zone. This fridge runs on both 120V AC and 12V DC. It is extremely efficient. We will be using a Bluetti Power Station which is equivalent of two Lithium Batteries stuck in a suitcase. It has a built in MPPT Controller and a 1000W Inverter built in. In our testing we can run the Dometic Fridge from this unit for 4 days straight without recharging the unit. Since the Bluetti can be charged from Solar this is why we split one of the panels at the breaker so we can route power to the Bluetti to recharge. We repurpose the old batteries to serve as our engine startup batteries. While it is overkill to have two batteries for our little Yanmar engine it is nice to have the redundancy for now. When these old batteries die we will go back to a single. This is a neat transformation as we use the space where there were 2 batteries to fit 4 of our new Full River batteries. We feel you will find this useful.

Our dream of sailing offshore in our wooden Ingrid ketch has come true. We sailed down the US West Coast to San Francisco Bay, with stops in Newport, Coos Bay, Eureka, and Drake's Bay. This was the first time we had Julia on the open ocean, and she handled it beautifully, safely delivering her crew under the Golden Gate Bridge. Julia is an Ingrid Ketch, designed by William Atkin and built in 1960. She is a traditional wooden boat, built of doug fir planking on oak frames. I rushed back from India Gate and changed my clothes and came to Pakistan High Commission. From there I went to see National Rail Museum and then Lotus Temple. *The High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in New Delhi is the diplomatic mission of Pakistan in India. Between 1972 and 1989, the mission was known as the Embassy of Pakistan in New Delhi, as Pakistan was then temporarily a republic outside the Commonwealth of Nations, an intergovernmental organization primarily comprising former territories of the British Empire. The building was originally the residence of Liaquat Ali Khan, Pakistan's first Prime Minister, who named it 'Gul-i-Ra'ana' after his wife, Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan. The building has distinctive Islamic architectural features, such as minarets and a blue dome. According to Shoghi Effendi, a Bahá'í temple is a “silent teacher” of the Bahá'í faith. Hear from owners Amy and Jay Panzarella who purchase their second yacht with ACY Yachts: a Dufour 530. I'm Amy and I'm Jay and we bought our beautiful Dufour 530 from ACY. We were talking about getting a bigger more comfortable boat since we plan to spend more time on our boat. This is the second boat that we have purchased from ACY. It's a very good boat for what we want. We were looking for a little more space on a boat, very nice to handle, something we can take friends and family out on. I looked at a number of boats and was familiar with boats and this Dufour has just been wonderful. For a monohull like this, it handles fantastically. I've been sailing my whole life so it wasn't a matter of trying it out and then figuring out if you want to have your own boat - I chartered with ACY and took an ASA course with them and it was a very good experience. I was familiar with them before we purchased the boat. Once we committed to the boat, ACY's team was right there. That day, immediately we met with Ken Krasko, Jevon, and Mike. They know the boat and anticipate issues and were able to help us through what we wanted to add. Ken was able to guide us through the process smoothly. Communication was excellent. It's obvious they all work well together which is important. It's a true team and it's been wonderful. You buy a boat and there are things that will go wrong like with any new product, if you are not on the boat all the time you will not see all of these things. The charter arrangement has helped that because we were able to see what needed to be fixed. The beauty of it is: ACY is there and they're on top of it. No matter what it is: lights, hook up, mechanical, someone is there and on top of it. You get a report and you don't have to worry about it. It's been a fantastic relationship.

The 30.48m (100ft) VPLP Design/Verdier Maxi Comanche, skippered by Mitch Booth, has taken Monohull Line Honours in the 2022 RORC Transatlantic Race, winning the magnificent IMA Trophy. Comanche has set a new race record for the 3,000nm race from Lanzarote to Grenada of 7 days 22 hours 1 minute 4 seconds. Comanche’s new Monohull Race Record has beaten the previous race record by over two days. With the double achieved Comanche must wait to see if any of the remaining 21 teams racing under IRC can eclipse their corrected time to win the RORC Transatlantic Race Trophy. Andrew McIrvine, Secretary General of the International Maxi Association (IMA), witnessed Comanche crossing the line and later presented the IMA Trophy at Camper & Nicholsons Port Louis Marina Grenada. Comanche’s record result in the RORC Transatlantic Race is the latest accolade to a phenomenal list of achievements, including the Monohull West-East Transatlantic record and race records and line honours for the Rolex Fastnet Race, the RORC Caribbean 600, the Rolex Sydney Hobart, the Transpac and the Rolex Middle Sea Race. Mitch Booth is Comanche’s skipper. In many ways he is typical of the international crew. Mitch is an Australian and Dutch national who lives in Spain. There is lots to clean on the boat after a massive year of cruising. It's normal practice for Aussie yachties to sail south for the summer, but we feel confident to not turn back as the marina is well prepared and showed to be strong in Cyclone Debbie back in 2017. Though, upon attending an extreme weather preparedness workshop, we have realised we do need to do some things in order to get us and Nakama prepared in the chance a cyclone does come over the top of us. We also need to find a new insurer and only few are willing to cover you above 25 degrees South. As there are so many boat jobs on the horizon we decided we should go get our car from down in Hervey Bay, Slim draws the short straw and makes the journey with Luke and Fumi to reclaim the silver bullet. Diese vergessene Segelroute, mein 40 Jahre altes Segelboot LA MER und ein Kajak waren die Zutaten meiner neuen Ostsee-Abenteuerreise durch die Schärengebiete Skandinaviens. Mit dabei waren Kameras und Drohne, um die Reise in einer aufwendig produzierten Dokutainment-Trilogie auf die Leinwand zu bringen. Mit Unterstützung des Dänischen Nationalarchivs und mehrerer Museen konnte ich die Koordinaten des Itinerars in meine modernen Seekarten übertragen. Man kann davon ausgehen, dass die historischen Seewege der Region - so auch die der Wikinger- ebenfalls entlang dieser uralten Segelroute verliefen. So erstehen die Seemannschaft der Wikinger, die Geschichte ihrer Navigation - zu denen ich auch Experten befragte- und ihre vergessene Mythologie in meinen Reiseberichten wieder auf. Il quinto episodio dei nostri Prequel vi racconta le Antille Olandesi, dette anche Isole ABC dalle iniziali dei loro nomi: Aruba, Bonaire e Curacao. Noi siamo stati a Bonaire e Curacao. Il video vi racconta anche la nostra breve sosta in Colombia, più esattamente a Santa Marta. Le Isole ABC sono tre isole-stato, ma fanno parte del Regno dei Paesi Bassi. Geograrficamente sono a nord del Venezuela e si trovano generalmente al di fuori dalla zona di pericolo degli uragani in Atlantico. Sono isole poco frequentate e conosciute, tanto che noi siamo atterrati a Bonaire pensando di fermarci solo un paio di giorni per poi proseguire verso Curacao dove tutto era pronto per alare la barca, fare lavori e lasciarla per qualche settimana durante, appunto, la stagione degli Uragani. Invece Bonaire è una delle isole più belle dei Caraibi, un vero paradiso per le immersioni e lo snorkeling. Tutta l'isola è un parco marino, acque trasparenti, reef pieni di vita e una cittadina colorata e tranquilla. Ci siamo rimasti più di 10 giorni e l'abbiamo lasciata malvolentieri. Curacao è l'isola più grande, Curacao Marine è un cantiere efficiente ed attrezzato. La capitale Willemstad è coloratissima e vibrante. Si trova praticamente tutto. Siamo rimasti fermi 3 mesi. Infine la Santa Marta, in Colombia. Ci siamo fermati meno di una settimana, ma ci è piaciuta molto. Buon divertimento!
