EP 204: Disaster at sea.. 😲 It was time for Ricky to get our new dinghy.. we were so excited to get a new rib which meant no more pumping up our floor and having to lug around our pump all the time. We took her for a test drive.. since we want to upgrade her engine sometime soon we tried out a 9.9HP and a 15HP and my oh my did she fly with them both. So that's definitely in the pipelines.. After recieving our dinghy and doing some grocery shopping we decided to head off to our new anchorage spot. The next bay on called Grande Anse D'Arlet. On the way there we though since it was a perfect downwind sail to hoist up our asymetric... when disaster struck... Thanks for watching! In this video we make our way on our Leopard 45 Sailing Catamaran from the Exumas to the Ragged Islands, otherwise know as the Jumentos. The water was so calm and crystal clear that we saw red starfish on the bottom of the Bahama Bank in 15 feet of water. On our hike across Flamingo Cay, we came across remnants of a burned out wooden boat, complete with clothes, water bottles and bed sheets strewn about the beach. We sincerely hope that whoever was involved in that tragedy was able to find help. And, on a lighter note, we found a hidden Mickey on the island. It's proof that even Mother Nature is a Disney fan. Après la Martinique, nous nous rendons en Guadeloupe à bord de notre voilier Velella. La Guadeloupe est un archipel des Caraïbes constitué de sept îles. Elle est bordée par la mer des Caraïbes à l'Ouest et l'océan atlantique à l'Est. Nous avons jeté notre ancre à St-François pour récupérer des amis en Vacances, puis ensuite nous avons passé quelques jours sur l'île de Marie-Galante en leur compagnie. Nous avons repris la mer pour aller à Bouillante où nous avons pris un bain sulfureux aux propriétés curatives efficaces contre les affections de la peau et les rhumatismes. Là bas, nous avons plongé à la Réserve Cousteau où nous avons découvert des fonds marins splendides pour achever notre tour de la Guadeloupe à Deshaie, petite commune très agréable à vivre.

As if our last sail wasn't wild enough! This time Katy and I have a crazy downwind ride that quickly goes from seemingly perfect full sail conditions to heavily reefed as the wind and waves build to a record high aboard Seawind. She was loving every minute! It was a different story for her crew though. The first cluster of beautiful islands we explore in San Blas are featured on the cover of our guide book - And they are just as stunning as the picture. We check out the beach on the closest island and hang out with friends of s/v Delos. Nugget is especially happy to see us again after being separated for a couple weeks. It's great to be reunited and our boats are the only two in the anchorage! Unbelievable. The white sand and clear water inspires Bill and we opt to purchase two spiny lobster from a local Kuna fisherman. Our friends have also done the same so we share dinner together and enjoy a decadent pasta dinner on Delos. The next day we're back on the beach living the good life, just soaking up the beauty around us. After being in a marina for months life back on the hook is nothing short of amazing. Breeze through the hatches, gentle rocking and the peace that comes from time spent on the water, with few others around. Next, we say goodbye to friends Hannah and Max aboard s/v Elixir and head back to Calico Skies where we are visited by a local Kuna family on their cayucos. We buy bracelets from them which are traditionally worn by the Kuna. Then we are delighted to see a veggie boat making it's way through the anchorage! Grace loads up on veggies and Bill treats himself to some Balboa (Panama beer). We've come to San Blas well stocked but you never know when the next opportunity will come along so we take advantage. Der Film begleitet Bootshund "Jackie" über ganze 9 Menschenjahre hinweg: Vom tapsigen 12 Wochen alten Welpen bis zum stolzen erfahrenen Seehund! Jackie, ist ein „Toller“ (Rassebezeichung: Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever) Nicht zu klein, nicht zu groß, mit 22Kg die Mittelklasse. Gerade erst aus dem Welpennest entschlüpft, wird Jackie während eines 6-wöchigenTörn‘s zu den Liparischen Inseln so richtig mit dem Segeln konfrontiert. Die schwierige Thematik Hundetoilette wird genauso behandelt, wie Einreisebestimmungen oder die hundgerechte Bootsausrüstung. Marian legt mit seinem Film großen Wert auf das Hundewohl, so werden Jackies Bedürfnisse voll respektiert und die Törns entsprechend ausgerichtet. Wie diese Gratwanderung an Bord der nur 28 Fuß großen Etap gelingen kann, beschreibt der Film in eindrucksvollen Bildern. So wird weiterhin hauptsächlich geankert, die täglichen Gassirunden werden mit dem Beiboot "Oma" zurückgelegt. Anstelle von hundelangweiligen Stadtbummeln ist dabei jede Menge Abenteuer garantiert! Der Wind kommt immer achterlicher, also herrschen beste Parasailor-Bedingungen. Die Bavaria C38 schiesst mit bis zu 9,8 Knoten durch das Ionische Meer. Allerdings macht uns ein Tiefdruckgebiet sorgen. Böen bis 50 Knoten sind angekündigt, direkt auf die Nase. Wir brauchen einen Plan B, um den Sturm abzuwettern.

Korrektur zum Video: Wir sagen, dass wir an der Insel Søby vorbeifahren. Das ist nicht richtig. Das ist die Insel Tåsinge. Søby ist letztendlich ein Mini-Dorf auf dieser Insel. Nach entspannten Tagen vor Anker geht es nun Anker auf und wir segeln Richtung Svendborgsund. Im Svendborgsund motoren wir durch schmale Rinnen und bei viel Verkehr durch eine wunderschöne Landschaft. Nach 16 sm und 4 Stunden kommen wir in unserer Ankerbuch Thurö an, welche gegenüber von dem wunderschönen Trönse liegt. Viel Spaß beim Schauen! Voilà ça fait une année que nous avons Oxten . Nous voulions faire un petit bilan. Après pas mal de week-end à bord , 2 semaines de vacances d'été et la semaine de la transat Jacques Vabre, le journal de bord compte plus d'une vingtaine de sorties en mer. Nous en sommes arrivés à la conclusion qu'on est vraiment content de notre acquisition. Content d'avoir choisi le Havre où on commence à avoir nos petites habitudes. Pour 2022 nous allons continuer de naviguer, essayer d'aller un peu plus loin cet été et continuer de se faire plaisir au gré du vent. L'ultime épisode de Vendredi aux Canaries ! Pour commencer, nous nous sommes accordés une très belle journée de visite. Gros coup de coeur pour le Parc National du Mont Teide.
