✨ Kim, Mark, Davon e Hanson S/Y "Anthea". Hopefully we'll meet again somewhere in the future! We still remember Davon's "upside down" chocolate cake! ------------------------------------------------------- Check out our Website & Blog, Facebook Page and Instagram right here: Seguiteci anche sul nostro Sito Internet & Blog, sulla nostra Pagina Facebook e su Instagram qui sotto: ⏩ https://www.y2ksblog.com/ ⏩ https://www.facebook.com/Y2K.Blog ⏩ https://www.instagram.com/y2ksailingadventure/ ------------------------------------------------ Our Video Gear: ✅ GoPro 7 Black ✅ Drone DJI Phantom 3 Pro ✅ Nikon CoolPix W100 ✅ MAGIX Video deluxe 2022 Premium ----------------------------------------------- MUSIC By: 1️⃣ Y2K Sailing Adventures Intro: 🎵 RED SUNSET Alex Pedrotti Licenze musicali concesse da: https://www.beetomusic.com/ 2️⃣ Raroia e Tahanea 🎵 POSITIVE FUSE French Fuse YouTube Raccolta Audio 3️⃣ Makemo 🎵 WELCOME SPRING Michael Bertona Licenze musicali concesse da: https://www.beetomusic.com/

The melting pot is completed and starts to earn its keep as I begin the melting and pouring of approx 1.3 tons of lead for the ballast keel. You guessed right we are still on the move sailing the Greek islands which are gifting us with the perfect sailing conditions. In this episode of SV CUBA, we pull up the hook in Ithaka in search of fuel and to find another protected anchorage since the winds are shifting. Lefkada or rather the large bay of Vasiliki looks promising with a gas station within walking distance. This time however the wind is not in a favorable direction and we have to tack many times through the wind to get closer to our destination. With not enough daylight left we decide to call it a day and seek shelter in Sivota, a small-town east of Vasiliki. Turns out, we found a little gem and one of the hot spots for charter boats, sailors, and cruisers alike. But since we are on a mission to fill our tanks, we press on the very next day to get some much-needed diesel. The winds are still not as forecasted but we manage to sail upwind to Vasiliki. Surprisingly the bay is not as protected from the wind as we thought, but a windsurfers paradise. Since we only have to grab fuel, the stay will be a short one and we decide to do the quick stopover. In all the rush though we forgot about the mainsail and even head into town without any shoes, blimey. If you like to be part of our journey, please consider becoming a Patreon @ https://www.patreon.com/svcuba We are Enrique (Kiki) from Cuba and Sarah (Salsa) from Germany on a mission to sail around the world. We have almost no sailing experience, but are determined to circumnavigate & share our adventures with you. Join us on our first stop, when we explore the abandoned bunkers of Albania. We are by no means film makers or video editors so please let us know what you think about our videos, what you like to see more of - or less ;-) Living on the hook sailing around the world can be a real challenge and a bit scary at times (especially when your home dangles from an iron thread just 10 mm thick). What is to come? We don't know but day by day we are learning how to live more sustainable, off-grid, more connected to nature, so we can share our adventures with you. This is the video in a series about the restoration of 100 year old historic wooden yawl Pantagruel by her owner German captain Micha. Pantagruel sunk in tropical cyclone Yasa in Fiji in December 2020, but Micha refused to let that be the end of Pantagruel and spent the next year bringing her back to life. In this video Micha reflects on what it was like to restore a boat in Fiji. I’ve split this story into 6 parts: Part 1) The accident Part 2) Above deck - the restoration of the hull and above deck structures Part 3) Below deck - the restoration of the interior Part 4) The systems - fixing and replacing the systems Part 5) Fiji - Micha’s reflections on restoring a boat in Fiji (this episode) Part 6) The future - Micha’s plans for the future ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A big thank you to Travel With Jaro for the footage of the cyclone ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CRUISERS CORNER Hi we're Timo & Jo and one of the things we like the most about the cruising lifestyle is the people you meet and the stories they tell you. That’s why we decided to make this series called the Cruisers Corner to bring these stories to you. If you enjoyed this video please consider supporting us on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/SailingNV or with a one-off donation via https://ko-fi.com/sailingnv or paypal https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/sailingnv Thank you! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timo and I have a story of our own... last year we bought an Open 66 ft race sailing boat originally designed and built by the famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa, which he raced in the 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), becoming the first non-frenchman to finish the race. We are currently in Fiji giving this old gladiator a new lease on life, transforming her from an ex race boat to a performance family cruiser, which we'll need to make both dog and baby proof! We’re planning to set sail again in Oct 2022, so with limited time&money we have plenty of challenges ahead to turn our dreams into reality&get back on the water! Check out our Refit Series to track our progress as we release videos about our journey. Never stop to dream, never stop to sail! She always wanted to climb the mast and the perfect opportunity presented itself when the headsail halyard became wrapped around the furler. I, being one who does not enjoy heights as much as some, was thrilled to assist her in ascending aforementioned mast in order to unwrap the aforementioned halyard. What a great wifey! After that we start preparing the boat to be hauled out of the water. Volvo have had three tries with three lift-outs to fix the broken D2-75 engine in our one year old Garcia Exploration 45 - Snow Gum. First the coupling sheared one of its six bolts. Then the gearbox was replaced. Then the coupling sheared all six of its bolts, immediately after being put back in the water and once again limping from the boat lift back to the pontoon. The noises coming from the engine and drive train just get louder with each repair attempt. Now Volvo expect us to waste more of our lives waiting for them to remove the engine, replace a couple of parts and reinstall the engine, so we can wait for it to break again. Nope - if the engine has to come out, I will be pushing for a new one. Well, I might ask that the Mechanical Diesel Interface (MDI) black box from the old engine should be transferred to the new engine. The original MDI failed in May 21 (leaving us and Snow Gum caught in a full gale in the Irish Sea - a story for another day) and its replacement seems to be a good’n. I suspect that it was the intermittent, progressive failure of the MDI that caused all of the trouble we’re having. It can’t do an engine drive train any good to have random stop and start messages being sent to it while at high revs and high loads. No wonder the drive train keeps failing. Please let us know what you think in the comments. I’d like to hand the boat over to new owners with an engine that can be trusted.

In this video edit I explain the routing choices we made, good and bad. I also talked about a few of the shortcomings from the popular and easy to use predictwind software for cruisers. We were faced with an unusual situation as the Azores anticyclone was divided in 2. The weather forecasting models advised us to go north of the low pressure. This is what the racing boats in the transquadra ocean race did. They had a fast but very tiring passage and most of the boats broke a lot of gear. We tried to get to Cape Verde to get the tradewinds, following the classic cruising route but ended up stuck in the eastern part of the anticyclone for 2 days before eventually reaching the north easterly trades. One thing we learned along the way is how to use the swell to our advantage. Learn more on how we can help you get your boat, prepare her for a long passage and sail her around the world here : https://www.sailtahiti.com/en/7-steps-to-your-new-sailing-boat-with-sail-tahiti/ 0:00 INTRODUCTION 1:17 AT SEA YOU CAN ONLY DOWNLOAD GRIB FILES FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS... 2:31 THE ANTICYCLONE WAS SPLIT IN 2 WITH ONE PART MOVING EAST AND BLOCKING THE SOUTH ROUTE 4:12 DECISION #4 LUFFING OR GOING DEAD-DOWNWIND? 5:22 WITH THE SWELL YOU CAN BEAT YOUR POLAR DOWNWIND 5:56 WAVE POLARS ARE NOT AVAILABLE IN PREDICTWIND STANDARD VERSION 7:42 THE FORECAST MODELS OFTEN DISAGREE... 9:01 IN A LIGHT BREEZE THE SWELL DIRECTION IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT

We are skipper and hostess (available for hire), promoting sailing and naturist style of holidaying in Croatia. If you are a sea gipsy, a real sailor (I mean, sailing, not motoring your way), and like to stay away from main charter routs and marinas … this might be the right place for you. We sail 8 m boat on a tight budget, so we explore and look for all nice places where we can anchor without paying overpriced buoy fields and marinas. Local villages, restaurants, water and food supply.... www.wesailcroatia.com info@wesailcroatia.com

In this episode we explore the nature of seasickness, and with the sea-state resembling a washing machine we have our task cut out for us. With 200 NM ahead of us we set sail at night to make our passage to the San Blas Islands. Instead of a sailing family we become a puking family and struggle to safely navigate Delos, while taking care of a sick baby, all while we feel like we're going to toss our cookies ourselves! In the end we pull it together and make landfall at sunrise in the amazing San Blas Islands! In this video we show how to trim a Genoa and set the car lead position. Genoa trim is particularly important on Genoa-driven masthead boats, but the same principles also apply to trimming jib sails on fractional mainsail-driven boats. The cars shown in this video are from Garhauer Marine (www.garhauermarine.com) but similar models are also available from other manufacturers including but not limited to Barton (www.bartonmarine.com), Harken (www.harken.com), Lewmar (www.lewmar.com), Ronstan (www.ronstan.com). and Selden (www.seldenmast.com). Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World.
