Just a few minutes of what I spent a couple hours watching. I wish you could feel the wind on your face and the spray of salt water hitting you the way I did.

In this episode (S2-E65) of the Art of Boat Building, Boat Builder Bob Emser show how he cast a bronze gooseneck using the Lost PLA method. Lost PLA is much like Lost Wax casting except PLA filament from 3D printed parts is melted (lost) out of the mold and then replaced with bronze. The bronze gooseneck is what attaches the boom to the mast. In addition Bob makes the tapered boom out of Sitka Spruce. “If you’re going to make it, make it beautiful.” -Bob Emser- Subscribe for more Boat Building from The Art of Boat Building: https://www.youtube.com/user/bobemser/featured?sub_confirmation=1 Share this video with a friend: https://youtu.be/DL5Ou6o-WIU How to support The Art of Boat Building. Today we have part 2 with Amy Alton, who along with her husband David Alton purchased a new catamaran in 2014 and sailed around the world. They finished their circumnavigation in 2020 a few weeks before the COVID pandemic hit. They have a YouTube channel, Out Chasing Stars, where they documented their around-the-world travel. They spent the better part of 2021 sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, which is also on their YouTube channel. We have a great conversation that is broken into 2 parts. Part 1 is about the circumnavigation and part 2, this episode is about the Chesapeake and Amy’s writing career. Yep, she is an author also!. Hog Island is NOT for everyone, so we had to find out WHY! When we sailed here to meet up with friends of ours, our OTHER friends said, "Ohh... Noo, we don't go over there." Now that we're here, we can see this place is home to one of the stickiest anchorages we've ever seen -- so what do you think? Would you avoid this island, or could you stay here forever?? Working in this area has been an emotional rollercoaster. (Support the build and get your name in our Hull of Fame! https://www.patreon.com/mjsailing) Things for me (Jessica) have been quite busy, as I was determined to tackle and finish the project of painting under the forward bunk. This is the FIRST area I attempted my fairing at, and would go back and forth to it so many times, as I began to focus on other areas like our cabinets. The only problem is, the strange curves in here make it a world away from the plumb and level cabinets I've been working on, but I've been trying to treat them as if they were the same. Trying to perfect that area, even though it didn't need it. Well, after getting very frustrated with my beginner results, I knew I had to suck it up and keep moving forward. Which has now led to....the very first coat of paint on our catamaran!! Check it all out in our newest episode. We hope you enjoy! Much love from Annapolis! We were so happy to have Alex for the crossing from Virginia to The Abacos; he was a huge help in every way especially with boat projects. And, it was even more fun when his wife, Stacey joined us in Marsh Harbor. We were ready to have some fun and travel to some beautiful islands. But, when we tried to put the dinghy down, the windlass was dead. What do we do now? And, while pulling out of Marsh Harbor, our windlass decided to shear its bolts. What's with the windlasses? Alex was a HUGE help with both issues. He was able to fix the davit windlass within 30 minutes, but the anchor windlass required professional intervention. Cue in Laurenzo, our hero. Laurenzo was able to get us up and running and somehow lift a 50 pounds windlass with one arm in a tight space. And, we were able to at least get out to see Hope Town and Tahiti Beach with our friends, Juergen and Heidi S/V Valentin. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our NEW life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we have very little sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story.

The NED 70 is a unique one from the Dutch yachting industry. She was designed by Vripack with the prupose building a fast yacht with a shallow draught, called the Low Discplacement Length (LDL) principle. This allows the yacht to go to places where a yacht of this size could never go. She is more than fully equipped to make long trips both in cold and warm areas of the world. With her beautiful lines, this ship is a very welcome guest in every harbour. From the end of March the ship can be visited in our sales office Loosdrecht. You should absolutely not miss this wonderful, unique opportunity! More information can be found on our website: https://www.devalk.nl/en/yachtbrokerage/803699/NED-70.html
It's time to welcome a new team with familiar faces 👏 Last year, Offshore Team Germany teamed up with Vendée Globe veteran Benjamin Dutreux for #TheOceanRaceEurope in what turned out to be the winning campaign in the IMOCA fleet. The combination worked so well that they are taking it to the next level and will take part in The Ocean Race 2022-23! The team, which will be called GUYOT environnement - Team Europe, will be sailing on Benjamin’s IMOCA. If it looks familiar it might be because it used to be 11th Hour Racing's Alaka’i which featured in last year’s The Ocean Race Europe. #TheOceanRace #RacingwithPurpose #IMOCA Don’t forget to subscribe for more The Ocean Race: https://goo.gl/BzBCwU Check out our full video catalogue: https://goo.gl/nrB9ay Like The Ocean Race on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theoceanrace/ Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/theoceanrace/ Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theoceanrace/ Read More: http://www.theoceanrace.com

Birthday goals for Sarah as we arrive just in time for sundowners at the Middle Percy Island A-Frame! Whales play in the anchorage and we see goats, peacocks and millions of butterflies on our trek to the Homestead.
