It is time! Wicked is back in the water looking better than ever! I hope we don't leak! After months of "couch sailing" on YouTube we decided it was time to stop dreaming and dream and start living it. Brit has wanted to sail and own boat for many years but it was always something that didn't seem it could possible for us. Until we stumbled across countless and I mean countless YouTube Channels like, La Vagabonde, Beau & Brandy, Sailing Uma, SV Delos, Parlay Revival, Tula's Endless Summer, Odd Life Crafting, Expedition Evans and the list goes on. We can only hope to inspire one person to chase their dreams as they have inspired us to. After what seemed like a long search for a sailboat we learned about hurricane damaged boats for auction down in the Caribbean. We came across a listing for a 43 Beneteau Oceanis that was currently being auctioned. We put in our bid and got out bid a few times before finally winning in the end. We had a short window to get from California to St. Thomas USVI to secure our purchase. Now the fun begins! It is time to refit this hurricane damaged sailboat make her our own. Thanks for watching! 6 June 2022 – Temperature 19° Wind on, sails off Departure: 10.15 Arrival: 14.00 Weather: Overcast, 16 degrees and occasional drizzle, later sun and 18 degrees. Wind: 12-20 knots W-SW Distance: 20 miles Details: First leg sailed together with the Welvaeren We wake up with the expected grey clouds, but it is not really cold. Patty gets a sandwich and after breakfast, as agreed, all 4 ships (Welvaren and neighbours and Willem Johannes and neighbours) leave for different destinations. The wind is not very strong then. We decide to set all sails to have a nice speed to Faaborg. We don’t want to sail in too late in case the harbour is secretly fuller after all. Now we can sail wonderfully and catch up with the Welvaeren, whose destination is Lyo By. We will visit the town and port that is new to us: Faaborg. The sun breaks through and the wind picks up, so we end up making speeds of 9 knots. Everything flexes and mooring in the 1st marina is a breeze. Patty had already called the harbour master and there was plenty of room. We were allowed to moor behind the “Mogge” and he laughed when I explained what that means in Dutch. We do a tour of the (deserted) town and the marina and then eat a quick fries before lazing away the rest of the afternoon on board. #Faaborg #sailing #mustocloting

So, the seams on Mochyn Du are in need of some repair. In fact I think in hind sight that the reason the boat was getting some water in the bouyancy tanks after sailing was probably something to do with this. We're going to attempt to fix this by injecting epoxy into the seams and hoping to binds everything together. If not then its new tapes which is a major job! Join us in this week’s episode (Sailing Around the World & Island Hopping), as we leave the island of Kythnos in Greece and attempt to sail to Mykonos. But the wind keeps changing and therefore our sailing route changes. Just before the sun sets, we manage to find a protected anchorage and go to explore the town. There we stumble upon a relic no one at sea ever wants to find while sailing or being on a boat in general. Sea mines, also called naval mines can still be found on the seabed in many areas all around the world. Some of them even still float on the surface and their triggering mechanisms can work for many many years, so Sarah’s fear growing up may not be completely unfounded after all. The next day we set sail to the island of Milos, one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades, where we are planning to visit the centuries-old Catacombs. Although most famous for the discovery of the ancient Venus de Milo statue, Milos is also the site of catacombs that tell a tragic story in Greece. These Catacombs are considered to be the most important early Christian monument of worship, but they are also the largest Christian burial site in the entirety of Greece. But Milos has so much more to offer, which we will soon find out! We are Enrique (Kiki) from Cuba and Sarah (Salsa) from Germany, a sailing couple. We are living on a boat, our tiny house, creating a travel vlog as we sail around the world. We have almost zero sailing experience, but are determined to circumnavigate & share our adventures with you. This Sailing SV Freelance episode is from when Tim, Perry, and I took the boat (a Pearson 36 Cutter) from Superior-Duluth back to Lake Superior's Apostle Islands. The summer weather was quite hot, even out on the open lake, and there were several threatening T-storms chasing us, which we thankfully avoided. We had hoped to be able to use the sails during the passage. Unfortunately, the winds were no cooperating, so we instead relied on the diesel to get us to our destination. When we got into the Apostles by mid-afternoon, we figured there wasn’t any reason to rush — and we decided to stay overnight on the hook in the pleasant Raspberry Bay, and continue on to Port Superior in the morning.

THE MOTHER OF ALL ASIA – TOWER OF PEACE The Mother of All Asia – Tower of Peace is a monument dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary as a symbol of unity and peace in Asia and the whole world. It is the tallest statue of Mary in the whole world with a height of 98.15 meters or 322 feet measured from the ground up to the tip of the cross on top of her crown. It also ranks no. 9 among the world’s tallest statues Its height is equivalent to a 33-storey building which also represents our lord Jesus’ life year on earth. It is also the only livable statue in the world with a gross floor area of 12,000 square meters or 1.2 hectares, more or less. The crown has 12 stars that represents the 12 apostles of Jesus Christ. Construction of the hands and face of Mary was commissioned to renowned sculptor and national artist, the late ED CASTRILLO, who started working on the project in 2008. Upon completion of the hands and face in 2010, they were temporarily installed and displayed until 2017 at the cloisters’ façade facing towards the northwest direction. Construction of the Tower of Peace began in 2013 and was completed in 2021 just in time for the celebration of the 500th year of Christianization and globalization of the Philippines. There were 4 other designs and another location that was studied and considered before the 5th and final design was approved and constructed in its present location. The monument has 12 foundations that represents the 12 tribes of Israel. A person has to climb a total of 420 steps from the ground level to reach the crown but that is if the person opted not to use any of the 3 elevators inside the monument. The name “MOTHER OF ALL ASIA” was adapted from POPE BENEDICT XVI’S 27 May 2017 prayer To Our Lady of Sheshan, Mother of The Church in China and All Asia. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. The trip that we were so excited about was coming up fast and we were looking forward to it so much! Then couple days before taking off I find out that Lithuanian citizens require a visa which is a lengthy process and we decide to take off and go to Dar es Salaam, South African embassy and see if we can find a solution. We take 8 hour bus ride and admire the countryside. Dar es Salaam being the biggest city in Tanzania - pretty fascinating and we find some really cool places and meet absolutely phenomenal people. But do we get to go to South Africa? I guess you will have to watch the video to find that out.
