"Boat Zero" is the highly modified first boat built by Emirates Team New Zealand for America's Cup 36th. This is the weekly "Sailing World on Water", highlights of the sport of Sailing Globally, in the last seven days from August 19, 2022. It's not looking good for Emirates Team New Zealand's Land Yacht programme as the lake in South Australia on which they are intending to use as their test bed is still covered in water. Glen Ashby reports. The Seven-star-round-Britain-and-Ireland Race is beset by light winds. Pip Hare in her new Imoca MEDALLIA is leading and has passed the top of Scotland. It's been a "drift" and crews are beset by a new problem, Running out of food! '. The final day at Airlie Beach Race Week where a record 178 boats are taking part concluded this week. Ross Chisholm, the Whit-sunday Sailing Club's Event Chairman, says, “A good way to finish off the regatta, was with mainly south/south-easterlies of around 16 knots. The event suffered with light winds and we have the opening race. The final day of the five-oh-five worlds in Ireland also started with no wind and again the wind filled in from the North East out to sea. Today the conditions were better than previous with the wind filling in slightly stronger and holding for longer. Nearly all racing was conducted in 10-12 knots of wind. Pete Barton, class manager of the RS Aero class a couple of months ago, with a small team of sailors, tested the Aero at Lymington, and they loved it. Here is his report.

‘Pan-pan pan-pan, this is Silbo, we need help, our engine broke down’. When we were sailing along the North Spanish coast, suddenly we heard this message on the VHF Radio on emergency-channel 16. Silbo was only 1 mile away from us and we decided to sail to them to see if we could help. It turned out the become an adventure for both ships (and Rescue Service was refused by us :).

We klaren uit bij de douane van Grenada en zeilen naar Union Island. Onderweg levert Patrick een gevecht met een tonijn. Maar de tonijn wint, geholpen door een falend harnas dat aan de hengel zit. Van Union Island zeilen we naar de Tobago Cays, waar schildpadden en ander onderwaterleven onder de boot scharrelen. We nemen helaas afscheid van Kim en Vincent van de Heron en van Bart en Kim van Tranquillity. Dan zeilen we door naar Bequia waar de volgende uitdaging ons wacht. Jarenlang heb ik ervan gedroomd om zeilend te gaan waar de wind me brengt. In 2020 was het dan eindelijk zover en heb ik samen met Felia een prachtige reis gemaakt naar Scandinavië en de Baltische staten. Onze Eva, een Atlantic 43 uit 2007, is een aluminium zeiljacht met hefkiel en gebouwd en uitgerust voor reizen naar plaatsen die net achter de horizon liggen. Vanaf 2021 vaar ik met wisselende bemanning zuidwaarts. Ik vind het leuk om onze avonturen met jullie te delen. This is the last third of the passage, and we go from calm weather to some stronger wind and swell which changes the experience completely. We try to fly our drone at sea, which was a pretty nerve wracking experience and we reflect on what passage life means for us and how we've both found this crossing. We made it to Virginia! Still heading south in the Chesapeake Bay, we cross the state line on our sailboat into Virginia as we pass the mouth of the Potomac River. As we make our way further south, we finally encounter our first reasonably warm weather of the trip sailing from New York. Apologies, but this video was deleted (accidentally) in a sweep through some of the content awaiting deployment. We decided to alter our publishing schedule and, well, made a mistake. The video, its view count, its likes, and all comments are now gone. Oops. This version of Episode 49 includes minimal edits to video and audio.
