After I made the decision to quit my sailing lessons because I became uncertain about it at one point, I did decide a few days later to start sailing again right away with the support of my neighbors Mikkel and Mark. In my heart I know I can do it so I had to get myself together and just do it again even though the mooring didn't go smoothly. * Short intro: After years of grief for my husband I've decided to change our home for a sailboat with ZERO experience...I'm just following my heart. I stay with my girls in The Netherlands where we at first will live on the boat untill my youngest will fly out..Then I will set sail. * La Belle Bleu = my love for the sea and the name we want to give to the boat. I hope I can inspire you to follow yours! Thank you for watching, I really appreciate you following along my journey. Don't want to wait until the next video? We left it all behind to live out our dreams of exploring the epic coastal waters of the pacific northwest by sail! We found a no-frills sailboat, spent months fixing it up and taught ourselves how to move around with the wind! Steep learning curve, this sailing business! We learned that anything that can go wrong on a boat WILL (during the first month on the water) including steering & engine failure! This week trouble stirs again and we find ourselves bucketing water, rather quickly, out of our bilge.. On with the show! We sail to the worlds largest sailing yacht "A" that was arrested in Trieste Italy. Weighing in at over 12,000 GT and with a draft of 8 meters (26.2 feet), this schooner has garages for four tenders, a submarine, and a touch-and-go helipad on the bow. Almost 50 meters (164 feet) longer than the world’s next largest sailing yacht, this unusual boat is sure to keep its place on the top of the charts for decades to come. And, the radical hull design of Sailing Yacht A is sure to keeping turning heads in harbors around the world.

As we push forward we continue to make progress on Reverie’s Refit. This week we are disassembling (as opposed to demolishing) our galley so we can seal and prime the wood that we just got done installing. We did a lot of research and decided to go with the Pettit line of products. For this job we used the Pettit EzWood Sealer and the Pettit EzPrimer. We chose to use the Pettit EzWood Sealer instead of West System poxy resin to seal, because we want to use products that we knew for a fact would be compatible since we are painting the galley. So this made the most logic to us. We treated all of the raw wood. The Baltic Birch panels we used for the shelf and the stove box we only use the EzPrimer on that. It came out really nice. As a bonus, we took advantage that we pulled out our Dometic CFX3 75 DZ Electric Cooler and flipped the doors around. That allowed us to flip the freezer to the other side so we can lift the basket. You will see what we mean on the video. We also received the brackets we used to secure the cooktop to the Box. So that puppy is not going anywhere. We are now ready to start taking some short trips and enjoying Reverie even more. There are other projects that have to be completed. We hope you enjoy this episode. Many people say "I have just bought a new boat" and then clarify it by saying "well, new to me". So... "I have just bought a new boat, well new to me" - only that's not quite true either! For I have just bought back the 30ft Sagitta catamaran we built in 1990-91 in our back garden (fortunately it was by the water so to launch we just pushed it over the edge) and then sold in 1993 to a German who kept it first in the Balearics and then later in Trieste, Italy. It was sold again and sailed back to the UK about 12 years ago. I still think it is about the best boat we ever had, so I was pleased to be able to buy it back, and that the owners had kept it in good condition. So Sagitta has sailed thousands of miles over the last 30 years. But - although sadly no longer with yellow topsides - the interior is much as it was when first built. Not only does it still has the blue table and yellow cushions, but also the saloon lighting is original! Of course it is all looking tired now, so a major project for next year will be to replace the cushions and redo the sidelining. But for now I have been busy just removing old wiring and plumbing hose. Many years ago one of the top singlehanded sailors was Pete Philipps sailing a succession of trimarans called Livery Dole. I remember him saying that before one OSTAR he removed over 300kgs of wiring from his boat. At the time we were sailing our 25ft Gwahir, each hull of which weighed 120kgs (3 of us could carry a hull). In other words, he had been sailing around with the equivalent of a Gwahir on his deck! Obviously the Sagitta is much smaller but I have still managed to remove 3 big bags of old wiring - yet all the lights still work, as do the nav instruments, central heating, fridge etc. Sagitta is being lifted out for the winter in a few days. So only this sailing video for now, but obviously many more to come next year! More on Sagitta here https://www.sailingcatamarans.com/index.php/designs-2/3-25ft-to-30ft-catamarans-designs/171-sagitta and check out the videos from 30 years ago on this channel! As always, there is no audio on this short video

Explore Croatia’s islands on two wheels, tackling varied and interesting terrain as you go! Our Cycle Cruises are led by a professional cycling guide and include a hearty breakfast and lunch (or dinner) onboard, large sundecks to relax and unwind in the evenings, and a challenging, yet rewarding cycling itinerary. With four itineraries to choose from, guests can enjoy the best of Croatia and cruising! A sample itinerary of destinations visited on the Split Return South route can be found below: Day 1 Split: Check-in is from 10.30am to 12.00pm. Day 1 Milna: We depart from Split harbour at 13:00, with lunch onboard as you get to know your fellow shipmates. We sail from the mainland and head toward the island of Brac, arriving mid-afternoon. Our first ride begins as we cycle to Bobovišça, a small hamlet set on the western side of Brac just under the mountain top, overlooking the sea. You will be able to dive into the turquoise water here or enjoy a coffee. Day 2 Bol: This first stage begins with a climb to the crest of a hill, past stunning local flora. The white stone visible here was used to build the White House in Washington and the Reichstag in Berlin. At the 35km mark, you have the opportunity to try traditional food and wine in a local village (please note lunch is optional). The panoramic views of the neighboring island of Hvar are well worth the ascent! In Bol itself, you can visit the Golden Horn beach (about 2.5km from the port), take a swim, or stroll through the local streets. Day 3 Hvar: The island of Hvar is famous for its multi-coloured fields of rosemary and lavender. On the first cycling stage, you'll make your way through the many villages on the island via paved and gravel roads. From Jelsa, we cycle towards Vrboska and then down to Stari Grad, one of Croatia's oldest towns (dating back to 385BC), where we will stop for a break. We continue on towards Hvar Town, passing through the villages of Grablje (known for its wine and olive oil) and Brusje. The day ends at the historical town of Hvar for an opportunity to visit the cathedral and Gothic palaces. Day 4 Korcula: Today we will ride from Racisce - Lumbarda. The peaceful and secluded gardens of cypress trees here make Korcula one of the most beautiful of the Adriatic islands. Korcula claims to be the birthplace of Marco Polo and the name can be seen all over the island. Our final destination is the medieval town of Korcula with its attractive narrow streets. Day 5 Mljet: Breakfast is served onboard, en route to the island of Mjlet, also known as Honey-Island. Mljet two lakes (Great Lake and Small Lake). In the twelfth century, Benedictine built a monastery here in a secluded spot, surrounded by pine and oak forests. Today this area is a National Park and the high point of any tour of Dalmatia. You can cycle around the National Park's salt-water lake, in which there is actually another island. After lunch, you are free to explore more of the island by bike or perhaps swim or kayak in the Small Lake. Day 6 Makarska: This morning we sail toward the Peljesac peninsula where we’ll start our ride from either Kuciste or Viganj. We cycle through this famous wine-growing region toward Orebic where we will have a short break and take in the beautiful countryside. On the ride back the climb is not easy, but rewards you with magnificent views of the neighbouring island of Korcula. We’ll meet the boat in Loviste where a delicious lunch will be served onboard. This afternoon take in the Adriatic Sea as your ship cruises into Makarska for the evening, a popular town at the base of the impressive Biokovo mountain range. Day 7 Split: After breakfast onboard, we will take our last bike ride of the week. The route takes us to Radmanove Mlinice, where the ""Winnetou"" movies were filmed, along the valley of the Cetina river, right underneath the mountains. In Omis, you can visit the Mirabella Fortress, which offers views over the channel towards Brac island. After lunch onboard, the ship will sail back to the city of Split, where you can take a tour of the fascinating Roman Diocletian's Palace. After a relaxed city walk in this unique historic town, you return to your ship in the nearby harbour. Day 8 Split: This morning it's time for an early onboard breakfast, before saying goodbye to the crew and all of your new friends. Lots is going on and needs to get done. It can be a bit overwhelming. We're tackling replacement of some water damaged veneer to spruce things up and also stop wood veneer pieces from chipping off each time we open the drawers. Stick around to the end to see what it looks like once he's done the install. We also still need to empty our vehicles because we need to sell them before we leave. WE sailed to Fakarava just at the right time for the most epic dive ever! We happen to be in this atoll of French Polynesia for an event that only happens once a year and this time it's happening all below the surface. Every June, on the full moon over 10,000 groupers come to the South Pass of Fakarava to spawn on the biggest tidal swing of the year. We were witness to the congregation for a truly unforgettable and honestly pretty unbelievable event. With the large gathering of groupers also triggered one of the largest gatherings of grey reef sharks and we were in the middle of it all. Join us on our sailing adventures throughout the Pacific Ocean! Thanks for following the adventures of WE! It's always hard to move on from a place we've been staying, and we've never stayed somewhere as long as we've been in Split, Croatia. That has made it very difficult to get used to the idea of not seeing the people we've grown close to and this beautiful part of the world. I wish that everyone could see the beauty of Croatia. We spent a lot of time with our new friends Jason and Janae. It's great to have people who are in a similar situation as you who can relate and help when needed. We've really grown to love their family and will miss them very much. Thanks for watching! See you next week!

The start of the Route du Rhum 2022 will be given from the Pointe du Grouin in Saint-Malo at 13:02. On the starting line will be gathered the largest number of skippers in the history of the race. They are 138 sailors to participate in this 12 e edition, divided in the 6 main classes of the event. Among them, professionals, but also amateurs who will live the dream of their life, mainly in the Rhum Mono and Rhum Multi classes, but also in Class40. Among the competitors, there will be 7 women, in the IMOCA, Class40 and Rhum Mono classes, but also 14 different nationalities, that is to say 20% of foreigners. Proof of the ever-growing internationalization of ocean racing. The Ultim Class includes the largest multihulls in ocean racing: 32 m long and 23 m wide. Equipped with hydrofoils, these flying machines are capable of crossing the ocean in less than a week. Between older, but truly optimized boats and new, technologically advanced models, the game is likely to be tight in the Route du Rhum. Will the record be broken? Par Chloé Torterat Par Chloé Torterat Published on October 25, 2022 Four years of technological developments for flying boats Ultims are the most powerful boats in ocean racing. With a length of 32 meters and a width of 23 meters, they sail on three hulls, but above all, they fly, for longer periods, with amazing average speeds! The 2018 Route du Rhum saw the birth of the first truly flying Ultims this was the case for the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild and Banque Populaire IX. Of course, the result was not convincing, as the first boat had to give up after tearing its float and the second boat had capsized. Today, three new flying boats have been added to the class. In four years, technology has allowed us to work on the load-bearing planes, but also on the aerodynamics to reduce the drag in the air, like SVR-Lazartigue, François Gabart's trimaran, which created controversy within the class for the choice of its cockpit position. On this 2022 edition, they will be eight sailors trying to win, and why not break the current race record set by Francis Joyon in 2018: 7 days, 14 hours, 21 minutes. As Francis Le Goff, the race director, said, if conditions allow it, then the race time could fall below 7 days.

This extraordinary 470 crew were part of Australian sailors turning Sydney Harbour into golden waters at the 2000 Olympics where they won gold in the men’s 470 dinghy under coach Victor Kovakenko. So emphatic were the pair in the regatta they only needed to finish within five spots of their nearest rivals in the final race to clinch the gold. Learn More | www.sailinghalloffame.org.au

In October 2022 we went to the Azores for 10 days. We visited 3 out of the 9 inhabited island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean (1300 km from Lisbon and 2500 km for New York City). The first island we went to was São Miguel. Enjoy in the video pictures and drone footage of: - Lagoa Azul: a crater lake with bright blue water - The typical churches in the villages of the Azores: white with black basalt blocks rimmed - Black sand beaches to surf - Parque Terra Nostra: a park close to Lake Furnas, with natural hot springs and steam clouds coming out of the ground (caldeiras) - Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Paz: a white chapel with the blue Portuguese tiles and beautiful panoramic view over the sea - Ilheu Vila Franca do Campo: island of Vila Franca do Campo is a 150 meter wide crater of a sunken volcano

The second island we went to was Pico. Enjoy in the video pictures and drone footage of: - The flight with a small propeller airplane to the island of Pico (from the island of São Miguel, 30 minutes) - Mount Pico (2300 meters), the largest mountain of Portugal, to be seen from every place on this island - The red mills, typical to be seen at many places - Wine Tasting at the property of the youngest winemaker on the Azores: Lucas Lopes Amaral (https://www.adegalucasamaral.pt/nl/) - The black coastline of this volcanic island - The vineyards planted on lava soil of Pico are surrounded by walls of loose stones called “currais” or “curraletas”. The walls protect the vines from the sea breeze, but allow the sun to pass through, which is necessary for the ripening.

The third island we went to was Faial. Enjoy in the video pictures and drone footage of: - The ferry from the island of Pico to the island of Faial (30 minutes) - Horta harbour: many sailors arrive here - Peter’s Sport Café: over 70 years old, the center place for sailors to check their mail, sent messages to their family. Nowadays sailors hang their flags on the walls and ceilings of the café - The cadeira of Faial: a spectacular crater - Our hotel was an old monastery with appartements - Vulcão dos Capelinhos: the Azores still have volcanic activities, the last eruption was 70 years ago, this young volcano can be visited - Whale and dolphin watching: we went on a 3 hour trip with marine biologists to see whales and dolphins. We were not disappointed!
