In this week's video we make our announcement of partnering with Simarine for their Nereide 3 digital switching system.  We've been looking at going this route in general for the past two years, but as we were at METS and had a chance to see the Nereide 3 in person, we knew we were in love.  Not only will it be extremely easy to program for all our different needs, but it will also provide data logging so we can keep track of all our systems. The Nereide 3 won't be comming out until late spring, so it will be a little bit before we can actually install it, but we're very excited about the future of this system on our hybrid catamaran. Before we can even think about installing most of our electronics though, there is still the task of fairing out the interior and getting primer and paint on everything in the near future (hopefully). This week we do more final touches within the master head, and then also move ourselves into the bridge deck in areas going down both sets of stairs. Matt also plans out for the medicine cabinet he'll be making in the guest wet head, as well as a dish drying rack in the galley, which we hope to be a visual centerpiece of the outboard galley side. In this video, we sail our catamaran from New Jersey through the Delaware River down to Annapolis, Adrienne gets really seasick, and we install STARLINK permanently on the boat. Along the way, Adrienne cooks her famous lemon chicken parmesan, and we learn that Baltimore really isn't that safe, after all. It's cold, grey, and windy. And as the waves get really big in the Chesapeake Bay, Adrienne gets really unhappy. So unhappy, in fact, that she spends most of the sail trying not to throw up. Lezioni di Vela - Manovrare in Poco Spazio - Episodio 09 Manovrare in spazi ristretti è il tema del nono video-episodio di Scuola di VELA, in cui scopriamo quali siano i trucchi per districarsi nei canali dei porti affollati, in cui apparentemente, non c’è abbastanza spazio per girare la propria barca a vela. Perché la barca a vela manovra bene in spazi ristretti Manovrare in spazi ristretti una barca a vela, utilizzandone il motore, richiede un certo manico, che si acquisisce in mezza giornata, facendo un po’ di prove di arresto, accosto e rotazione. Esistono alcuni trucchi, ben spiegate nel video, che facilitano enormemente la vita nel manovrare la barca a vela in poco spazio, e ve ne avevamo raccolti alcuni nell’articolo “Come ormeggiare con vento senza fare casini” Nel video di oggi, vediamo in pratica come la barca a vela, anche senza l’uso di bow-thurster, è per sua natura estremamente manovrabile, i motivi sono: La pinna di deriva riduce drasticamente lo scarroccio in presenza di vento laterale rispetto a una barca a motore, non appena abbiamo un minimo di velocità il movimento della barca a vela è molto prevedibile, e lo scarroccio è minimo. La pala del timone di una barca a vela ,(o le pale, nel caso siano doppie), sono molto efficaci anche a bassa velocità per cui manovrare in spazi ristretti con la barca a vela, è sostanzialmente più facile. Le barche a vela con pinna di deriva (tutte quelle non a chiglia lunga) ruotano sostanzialmente su se stesse, in un punto spesso coincidente con l’asse della deriva. In presenza di vento, senza vele e senza motore, la barca si posizionerà da sola al traverso, scarrocciando dolcemente, possiamo sfruttare anche questo movimento, per esempio durante l’attesa di entrata nel canale, o quando siamo in solitaria e dobbiamo mettere i parabordi. Il trucco per manovrare la barca a vela sono marcia indietro e vento in poppa Come vedremo nel video, il trucco per tutte le manovre a motore della barca a vela sono la marcia indietro e il vento in poppa. Essendo l’elica a poppa, quando la barca è in marcia indietro con vento in poppa, possiamo raggiungere un equilibrio meccanico stabile, anche a velocità bassissime. Al contrario, se abbiamo marcia avanti e vento in prua, non appena la velocità sull’acqua diminuisce, la prua in presenza di vento scarroccerà inesorabilmente, perché la barca è in equilibrio instabile. Many new subscribers, many new ideas and plans. So perhaps a little re-introduction of us, what's happened so far and our plans for this upcoming season! When cruising you never really have fixed plans. You just have one until you get a new one. We usually say that we have enough alternative plans to cover the entire alphabet! Nevertheless, we want to share with you a rough idea of what we intend to do and where we hope to sail in 2023. We'd really appreciate it :) Once we're hopefully out of the Med (and past the orcas) safe and sound, we'll have to decide what's next. Do we head to the canaries? Or even further? Das erste und zweite Dachsegment werden verbunden, Ergänzung zu den Vorschiffsluken, Werkzeug Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei generalüberholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. Erst haben wir einen richtig tollen Segelwind und dann wieder nicht. Aber trotzdem ist eine schöne Fahrt in die Schlei. Irre viel Traffic erwartet uns bei der Einfahrt. Aber wir schaffen es, aus dem Pulk in das Wormshöfter Noor und finden einen schönen Ankerplatz vor Maasholm. Viel Spaß beim Schauen! Traumhafter Segeltörn in die liebliche Inselwelt der dänischen Südsee. Heute hier – Morgen da – aber immer vor der Haustür. Die von deutschen Seglern gepriesene und äußerst beliebte „Dänische Südsee“ nennen die Einheimischen treffsicher das „Inselmeer“. Zwischen Fünen und den größeren Inseln Als, Aerö und Langeland liegen alle Häfen und Ankerplätze in überschaubarer Reichweite. Freuen sie sich auf eine Dokumentation, die an der Schlei beginnt. Die FeO wird sie dann mitnehmen auf einem Sommertörn über Mommark, Söby, Faaborg, Lyö, Avernakö, Skarö, Troense, Svendborg, Drejö, Aerosköbing, Marstal bis Bagenkop. Herumtreiben im geschützten Wasser der südfünischen Inselwelt, das zwecklose Genießen des Bordlebens, beschauliche Inseln, Dörfer und Städte mit ihren schmucken Häusern und ehrwürdigen Kirchen und letztlich die Pausen bei Kaffee oder einem guten Glas im dänischen Alltag, das sind die eigentlichen Ziele des Törns – Urlaub machen, segeln vor der Haustür. Man muss eine Auswahl treffen und im nächsten Jahr wiederkommen, so vielfältig und abwechslungsreich ist die Inselwelt in diesem geschützten Revier. Hier fühlen sich auch die kleinen Küstenkreuzer wohl, wenn sie in beschaulichen Häfen festmachen und die großen vorbeisegeln lassen. Vieles wird Ihnen bekannt vorkommen – doch gibt es auch Momente, die den Anreiz bieten, diese schöne Tour nachzusegeln.
