Come aumentare le prestazioni delle vele L'esperienza di Roberto Westermann suggerisce che il segreto per aumentare le prestazioni delle vele su una barca da crociera è quello di regolarle costantemente. Dalla sua lunga esperienza di regate e di lunghe navigazioni, è apparso chiaro che spesso le vele non vengono sfruttate al massimo, perché la regolazione di fino è o molto scomoda, o molto faticosa. Ecco dunque Semplificare la manovre, che più é semplice e agevola la manovra, più, anche su barche da crociera, sarà immediata la corretta e costante regolazione della stessa. Utilizzare carrello fiocco a scorrimento continuo, molto più pratico e veloce di quello classico a bottoni. Ridurre gli sforzi aggiungendo bozzelli di demoltiplica o diminuendo gli attriti. La scotta di randa, può essere demoltiplicata con il raddoppio dei bozzelli a violino, uno principale, e uno secondario per le regolazioni di fino. Nel caso del video, si arriva a una demoltiplica di 24 a 1. Les grenadines de Saint Vincent : Chateaubelair & Bequia - Clearance et Visites. En partant d'Anse Pitons à Sainte Lucie, nous nous arrêtons à Chateaubelair - Saint Vincent pour faire le check in d'entrée sur le territoire. Nous n'avons pu faire que la partie douane car ils n'étaient pas équipés pour les formalités d'immigration. Nous avons dû les faire à Bequia. Je trouve le montant des clearances assez chères à Saint Vincent. Le tarif tient compte de la taille du bateau et du nombre de personnes à bord. Vous payez pour la douane et pour l'immigration. Au total, entre 200 et 300 EC dollars. Soit presque 100€. Payable en cash. La côte ouest de Saint Vincent est très belle mais les mouillages restent souvent profonds, certains peuvent nécessités une amarre arrière du cul du bateau à un cocotier sur la plage. Pour ceux qui veulent pratiquer ce type de mouillage prévoir une amarre, ou mieux une sangle, très longue. Après une nuit au mouillage, nous sommes partis à Bequia. Ici, vous trouverez des superettes, marchés et un distributeur de billets. Die Nächte sind kalt, der Wind weht kräftig und die Wellen machen uns zu schaffen. Als wir dann unseren Parasailor das erste Mal setzen wollen, brist der Wind nochmals auf. Sofort schießt die Dilly-Dally in die Sonne. Kurz bricht so etwas wie Panik aus, naja, zumindest beim Skipper. Als das Segel endlich steht, stellen wir fest, dass die Niederholer fast durchgescheuert sind. Ein Fall für Kai-Uwe. Mitten auf dem Atlantik flext er erst einmal die störenden Positionslichter ab, die an den Schoten genagt haben....

This is the fourth episode of many to come that is following the build and launching of "Glass Slipper." A Jim Antrim designed 40 foot offshore race boat that is being built on location at the Berkeley Marine Center in Berkeley California. The Berkeley Marine Center is very fortunate to have a lot of friends in the business to help make this project possible. Dave Collignon from Rev Chem the supplier of the composite building supplies for the project and our project manager who has been involved from the beginning. Whether its making sure Cree has ordered the right parts, building spreaders, grinding fiberglass or vacuum bagging carbon panels he's all in to make sure we make it to the finish line! In this episode part of the sailing team participates in the required US Sailing Safety at Sea Seminar down at the San Diego Yacht Club. Back at the yard things are getting close to launching, final paint, final rigging, and getting down to the small but important details.

Raja Ampat, the last paradise is as busy as ever, and the scuba diving is as good as it's been years ago. Lake Powell was closed due extremely low water levels so we decided to Take Galactica south to sail the region around Gulfport Marina, Mississippi! This was a fun trip, we met up with our friend Jim King who we met over a dozen years ago when he sailed his MacGregor 26M: Koenig. Now he runs a charter business and is a fantastic ASA instructor. So many mountains this week! We took a short drive to visit Glitter Mountain, just across the Arizona border. Glitter Mountain is an old gypsum mine that sparkles in the sun. It's a cool spot to check out and there's plenty of gypsum to take home as souvenirs. Nearby is Little Black Mountain Petroglyph Site where we saw tons of amazing ancient petroglyphs. Both spots are worth checking out if you're in the area. The mountain everyone was most excited to go to was Splash Mountain at Disneyland! We had never been to Disneyland as a family and it did not disappoint. The kids had so much fun. See you next week!

In this programme we have to get our visa extended as they only give you 30 days on arrival. The whole process takes three visits to the Immigration office, some paper work to fill in and one million rupiahs! We also take a look at the trash problem on the beaches and in the sea around Bali. Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu seems to be the beaches more affected by all the plastic landing onshore during the rainy season. It is everywhere! Really sad to see such a big problem around this beautiful island. We then join a beach clean up in Canggu, where every Tuesday they accept the help of the tourists to clean their beach. But does it really help? They take this bags of plastic to a recycle centre, which we tried to visit but got no response from the authorities. Which was ashamed as we would have liked to show you the whole process, what do they do with their plastic. So the question remains...is it taken care properly? We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

Organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club and supported by Antigua Yacht Club, the 14th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600 started on time at 11:00 AST on Monday 20th February. Seventy boats racing under IRC, Class40 and MOCRA Rules, with crew from 30 different countries, started the epic race. At the start outside Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua, unstable squally conditions, with the wind speed in the mid-teens, produced a thrilling start for all classes. The RORC fleet have now set their sails for the spectacular 600nm race around 11 Caribbean islands. The fastest boats in the fleet are expected to finish in less than two days, but for some it will be five days before returning to a triumphant finish in Antigua.
