So, when a handicap win comes that is fantastic,” commented skipper Ben Mitchell. “This win is right up there with the biggest victories, and Pyewacket has had a lot of success with the programme. This clip show’s Geoff Bishop’s King 40 CHECKMATE finishing the Royal Perth Yacht Club’s Island race with the A1 and staysail. According to Bishop, “The A1 got a workout yesterday and performed to perfection, along with the team.” CHECKMATE won her class under IRC and PHS in the 39-mile race off the west coast of Australia. The winds we mostly light, which kept the bigger boats from being able to plane away. Sail changes between the code zero, A1 and A2 were the way of the day, which is why Bishop gave so much credit to his crew and his inventory of UK Sailmakers sails. Harri Wren and Peron Pearse are the Ross 930 "Start Me Up" team and were involved with a pre-race incident with Playbuoy which resulted in Playbuoy being forced out of the race with serious damage to their rig. Harri and Peron were able to continue racing for Leg 1, however it was all hands on deck to get them going for Leg 2 with a replacement prod. It takes a village! #ssanz #ssanzrni #rni2023

Formentera is the number 4 inhabited island of the the Balearic islands (after Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca). It is located 7 kilometers south of Ibiza and is 19 kilometers long. The island is only accessible by boat and is therefore quieter than the other Balearic Islands. Famous writer Jules Verne described the island in his book "Journeys through the Solar System", when he stayed at Formentera in the lighthouse of La Mola. We anchord at Ses Illetes which is one of the most beautiful beaches of Formentera. Because of the narrow part of the island you have a beautiful natural phenomenon on this beach, namely the sea on both sides. Meters of white sand, infinite blue water and views of Ibiza and Es Vedra. All together makes this truly a paradise place! And again, we were the only boat at anchor here. Even in February, we had the idea that we were in an atoll in the Indian Ocean: the turquoise color of the water and the white of the ring-shaped beach around us gave us that feeling. Mouillage, Taxes & Clearances : Tobago Cays, Saline Bay - Mayreau, Chatham Bay - Union Island. Après avoir quitté Bequia, nous avons mouillé aux Tobago Cays, puis à Saline sur l'île de Mayreau et enfin à Chatham Bay sur l'île d'Union. Les Tobago Cays sont magnifiques, mais ce mouillage est assez exposé. L'endroit le plus abrité est entre Petit Bateau et Petit Rameau. Petit Rameau casse un peu la houle d'Est. Les Tobago Cays sont une réserve, il y a des taxes et des droits de mouillage. Après une escale à Saline Bay sur Mayreau nous sommes resté quelques jours à Chatham Bay sur l'île d'Union. Nous avons fait notre check out à Clifton. I got a seriously bad bad back. Long story short, I tore a ligament in my lower back and its going to need 6-8 weeks to recover from fully. It happened about 2 weeks ago so i'm on my feet, but sailing, cycling and anything more than walking about are off the menu for another 2 weeks. I should have enough content to keep it coming so don't worry about that and I'm hoping to get back down to the lake in a couple of weeks. Noi siamo in Italia ancora per un mesetto, mentre Y2K ci aspetta nella buca anti-ciclone a Vuda Marina, nell'isola di Viti Levu. In questo episodio cominciamo ad avvertire chiaramente il cambio di stagione. La meteo inizia ad essere instabile, l'aliseo cede lentamente a brezze variabili, sale la temperatura e l'umidità. Cominciano le prime piogge e i fronti temporaleschi. Entriamo ufficialmente nel periodo dei cicloni (Novembre - Aprile nel sud Pacifico) e sappiamo di essere agli sgoccioli della nostra avventura per l'anno 2022. In giro pochissime barche, gli ancoraggi sono deserti. Seguendo la costa dell'isola di Matacawalevu (nord Yasawa) ci troviamo in una baia da sogno, sperduta, non indicata nei portolani. E' stupenda. Conosciamo Kessa e Johann proprietari del Long Beach Resort, godiamo della loro ospitalità e dell'incredibile bellezza dell'ancoraggio. Cambia la meteo, cambiamo ancoraggio. 6 miglia più a nord ed eccoci alla fonda davanti all'isola di Nanuya Lailai, circondati da molte isole (Matacawalevu, Nanuya, Turtle Island e Tavewa), all'interno di una sorta di "laguna" molto riparata. This one’s been asked for by a couple people. I was going to combine it with the full “entertainment solution”, but in the interest of getting this out, here is just the Projector part. I’ll do another one that talks about everything. The Projector we ended up with is the Optoma ZH506e. It looks like this has now been replaced with the ZH507. The important specs are a throw ratio of 2:1, preferably with adjustable zoom in which 2:1 is within the adjustable zoom range. Also high brightness is key if wanting to use this during the day. Though the Marquesas Islands had captivated us with their beauty, it was time to set sail on the 500 nautical mile passage to the Tuomotus. When we arrived we found islands that were different from the Marquesas in nearly every way. Turquoise lagoons lined by white sand beaches awaited us, and we found beautiful coral reefs surrounding the palm fringed islets. Julia is a traditional wooden boat, constructed to the Ingrid design by William Atkin. She was built in 1960 of fir and cedar on oak frames, and has proven to be a capable blue water crusing boat for voyaging the world's oceans. Our dinghy is skin-on-frame and was designed by Dave Gentry.
