Checkmate Finishing 2023 Island Race

This clip show’s Geoff Bishop’s King 40 CHECKMATE finishing the Royal Perth Yacht Club’s Island race with the A1 and staysail. According to Bishop, “The A1 got a workout yesterday and performed to perfection, along with the team.” CHECKMATE won her class under IRC and PHS in the 39-mile race off the west coast of Australia. The winds we mostly light, which kept the bigger boats from being able to plane away. Sail changes between the code zero, A1 and A2 were the way of the day, which is why Bishop gave so much credit to his crew and his inventory of UK Sailmakers sails.
