Dieses Mal arbeiten wir nicht an Squib, sondern reparieren die Lukendeckel eines Freundes Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei generalüberholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. I noticed that my spinnaker has a few small holes in it. I'm sure it would be OK, but I think it would be prudent to stick a couple of Dacron repair patches on them just to give her a bit more life. This is the plywood sheet that my electrical components will be screwed onto in the engine room. I decided to start painting it before the foam is done in the engine room, that way once the foam is done I can just plop this on. I chose to go with an epoxy primer that is gray. I chose to do this because I have no idea what I'm doing and I could find instructions of how to use it online and could also find it in the store.

Leaving your boat in the middle of the cyclone zone over summer may seem fool hardy but after doing our research into the frequency of catastrophic storm events and inspecting a range of facilities on the coast, we decided to do just that and secured SV Our Dreamtime in Townsville’s Breakwater Marina while we land travelled south to spend Christmas and January with family. Some nights are just more beautiful than others. One of the most beautiful nights is the first night in the water at the beginning of the boating season. The peace and tranquillity is healing to the soul. It’s no wonder sailers and boaters love being on the water.

** NOW SOLD ** Satisfaction II is a 2015 Hanse 345. This is a modern, easy, and quick cruiser in great condition. The cockpit is super impressive with twin wheels and a large boarding / swim platform. Lines are led aft to the winches directly in front of the helms. In addition, there is an auto-pilot and self-tacking headsail so single-handed sailing couldn't be easier. In Satisfaction II we have a big list of significant extras and recent updates. In addition to the self-tacking headsail there is a 105% genoa for maximum upwind performance. For sliding away from the breeze there are two Norths asymmetric spinnakers – a running gennaker in a sock and a close reaching gennaker on a Selden furler. This is a very fun sail plan! Importantly, the full four winches are installed (most 345’s simply have two as standard). The house batteries and charging system have been professionally upgraded to lithium in September 2020. The B&G Zeus 9” plotter in the cockpit was installed new in just January 2023. There is AIS and a large inverter. Down below is the preferred two cabin layout which allows for the massive head and shower space plus the cockpit storage which is accessible internally and via the cockpit. Engine hours are around 374 and Satisfaction II has been regularly and professionally maintained. She was last anti-fouled and serviced in November 2022. The Hanse 345 is a seriously versatile option and Satisfaction II is an optimized example in excellent condition. She would suit someone wanting to step into a late model - ready to go option with some seriously fun and exciting upgrades.

We encounter a top wind gust of 62 knots, a boat is only metres away from colliding with us after dragging, we have hail, heavy rain and over 2600 lightning strikes in our region! It was pretty damn scary thinking we could potentially drag and lose our home but our Rocna Anchor and Titan chain held us like a champ!! We do get to do a few fun things into our last week of the season though. We find the Pig beach of the Med, enjoy some light wind sailing in glassed off conditions, explore some new towns and have a beach bonfire!
