We weren't done with the Monterey Bay quite yet - we left Santa Cruz and sailed 22 nautical miles across to the Bay's namesake city of Monterey where we enjoyed the Monterey Bay.Aquarium, Bike Path, caught up with an old friend and even got close and personal with a fün whale! Our departure was less than stellar though, and the beginning of our very long engine saga. De ce temps là les quantités nécessaires à une traversée de trois mois se calculent sur la base d'environ trois litres d'eau par homme et par jour. Soit pour un vaisseau de 74 canons avec 775 marins à bord devait embarquer 210 000 litres d'eau. Sur le Nomade nous nous sommes contenter de 150 litres. It's our last day in the Caribbean before we transit through the Panama Canal to reach the Pacific Ocean. We are anchored in a jungle river at Rio Chagres and it's time to make a few upgrades to Indi before we leave. First up we turn our whole deck area into a sail loft and repair our genoa and then we add a new screen for Wayfinder at our helm station before we move the boat round to Shelter Bay to collect the lines and fenders that we need for our canal transit tomorrow. Il n’y a pas de sentiment de liberté plus puissant que lorsque le vent propulse notre voilier, que les vagues glissent doucement sous nos quilles et que nous fusionnons avec mère Nature. Avoir la liberté de choisir où aller et quand le faire est une des raisons pour lesquelles nous avons adopté ce mode de vie il y a trois ans et demi. Les difficultés de l’année passée ne font qu’accroître notre appréciation de la liberté et nous rappellent de ne plus jamais la mettre en péril. Priver les voyageurs de leurs ailes, c’est comme priver les plantes de soleil ; nous avons besoin de mouvement et d’exploration pour nous épanouir, tout comme une plante a besoin de soleil pour grandir. Alors, imaginez notre sentiment de soulagement en quittant les San Blas, notre paradis déguisé en cage depuis trop longtemps. Après avoir traversé le canal de Panama, nous sommes allés au mouillage devant Panama City, la capitale du Panama. On profite d'être à la capitale pour faire quelques achats et mise à jour de l'équipement du bateau. Un de nos amis nous avait informé qu'il avait acheté une machin à laver le linge en Polynésie et que cela lui avait considérablement facilité la vie. Ce n'est pas tombé dans l'oreille d'un sourd, sur celle de Dajana qui a sauté sur l'occasion pour demander également une machine à laver. Un petit week-end au Havre , une navigation juste à deux et c'est là qu'on fait des erreurs. Nous envoyons le SPI juste avant un orage . On a faillit perdre notre SPI .
