La Corogne, étape incontournable quand on descend vers le sud. Et puis le fameux Cap Finisterre ! Il tient ses promesses : une fois au large et soudainement, le temps change, le vent monte, la houle forcit. Une journée compliquée et difficile. Mais un excellent apprentissage pour nous, et surtout prendre confiance en notre bateau. Porto, en plein confinement, sera une étape atypique, mais très belle. Enfin, dernière navigation vers Lisbonne avant de rentrer en Belgique pour quelques semaines. Première étape de notre voyage réussie ! (avril 2021) Vivement la suite !

After leaving our native Switzerland and settling in the UK almost two decades ago, we made a life-changing decision in 2021. With our three boys grown and flown, we bid farewell to the rat race in London and embraced a new chapter aboard Polaris as our primary floating home. Throughout the years, we have embarked on numerous upgrades to enhance our sailing experience on Polaris. We swapped the standard propane gas cooker for an electric cooker and oven, installed a generator, and upgraded to a lithium (LiFePo) house battery bank. Additionally, we added 1,200W of solar panels and a water maker to ensure self-sufficiency on the open seas. The inclusion of a third reefing point on the mainsail and an inner forestay for a working jib and a storm sail further enhances Polaris as a comfortable and safe live-aboard yacht. We now sail along Scotland's breathtaking coastline, enjoying year-round living on our floating oasis. This video is a short report on the 2023 DF95 or DragonFlite 2023 Global Regatta held in Fleetwood, UK on the 12th - 19th May 2023 This regatta is an invitation regatta with top helms attending from all over the globe sailing in the DF95 or “Dragonflite” class model yacht. If you are not familiar with this class of sailboat please check out some of our other videos. In order to qualify for this event each competitor has had to take part in a series of qualifying qualifying local regattas over the past year. So, all the competitors here have made a considerable commitment in time and expense to take part in this regatta. The Regatta was last held in 2018 in Dallas, Texas. La primera Masterclass Sailing Txemacapitan ha sido todo un éxito. Me ha tocado una tripulación perfecta. Embarcamos en el puerto de Punta Lagoa a las diez de la mañana. Después de un breafing, hicimos prácticas de amarras y atraque. Al rato, salimos a la ría e hicimos prácticas y táctica de vela. Para cenar, Bea nos preparó una mariscada digna del imperio Romano. Nos sobró tanto que tuvimos marisco hasta el último día. Para la jornada del sábado tenía preparada una navegación muy especial, nos iríamos a veinte millas al oeste de las islas Cíes a ver si localizábamos alguna ballena. Una vez allí, rumbo al cabo de Finisterre, allí donde se acaba el mundo. Por el camino nos encontramos un agua prístina, un sinfín de aves marinas y delfines, pero ni rastro de las ballenas. En otra ocasión será. Buen Motivo para repetir la singladura. Una vez en la situación estimada, dimos rumbo al cabo Finisterre. Se nos cerró con una niebla tan espesa que se podría cortar con cuchillo y tenedor. Llegamos a estar a 0.1 de milla del faro y no podíamos verlo. Lo celebramos con espumoso gallego y con cierto sabor agridulce de haber estado pero no haberlo visto. Dimos rumbo a pasar a una milla de los bajos Os Meixidos, delante de Lira y Muros, pero observamos que la niebla comenzaba a disiparse. Cambiamos el rumbo 180 grados y volvimos al cabo. No se veía ni torta. Pero tuvimos paciencia y nos quedamos allí sobre una hora. Al pasar ese tiempo empezó a verse el cabo. Fue emocionante ver cómo poco a poco la costa se dejaba ver. Os prometo que ni el mejor guionista hubiera causado ese efecto en nuestras emociones. Al rato, dimos rumbo a nuestra nueva ruta de GPS. Llegamos a la playa de Rodas en las islas Cíes a las cinco de la mañana. El domingo hicimos la ruta de las tres islas, Cíes, Ons y Sálvora. Mientras, nuestro ahora amigo y tripulante Marco Tarabini, chef de cocina nos preparó unos espaguetis estupendos.
