Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. As summer fades, the weather is shifting rapidly as often happens in Spring, but this year, sea temperatures are 4 to 6 degrees warmer than usual, and that has created highly unstable conditions, sometimes with tragic consequences. We’re still enjoying the lovely sailing conditions, but taking no chances as we island-hop up the Ionian Sea, finding shelter whenever strong afternoon winds pick up

We met travelling around India, and quickly agreed that rather than “settling down” and doing what most normal people do, we wanted to travel and have adventures! The Lagoon 440 is one of the most popular cruising catamarans on the market. It's big, spacious, and well-laid out for cruising. Part of what makes it desirable for some is the flybridge helm station up top. This is the 4 cabin 4 head charter version, but there are owners version around as well. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. We started out with Somnium, an O'day 272, moved onto Freebie, an Endeavour 32, and now are focusing on sailboat tours and working full time as teachers while we save up for our next boat. Please leave a like and comment if you've enjoyed the video, and subscribe if you haven't already.
Now it's time to begin planning the interior of our boat. Become a Lord or Lady today!! https://establishedtitles.com/mjsailing Even though we'll be spending the winter working in each hull side because we can heat the fore and aft areas, we've found that in order to properly place a few of these things out, we first need to fit out the salon. Even though we won't be getting to that area for months!! But, having some of those items in place helps us decide what we want to do down in the hulls. Which, for the main focus of this episode, we're working in the master head and vanity. Questions come up like "Where we want to fit the toilet? How is this going to impact where we place the counter? Would it be best to have sliding doors for our cabinet, or opening?" It turns out, there is A LOT to consider when the world is (partially) your oyster. But once we get a few of the necessary decisions out of the way, Matt is able to template and cut the bulkheads which will separate our shower from another cabinet in the forward section of the head. So much planning and fitting to come - scary to think this is only the beginning!! Much love from Annapolis! It’s tempting to think we’re cursed. After our boat was struck by lighting, we thought Mother Nature might go easy on us for a while. No such luck. After leaving the boat on the hard in Florida, we drove up to the Midwest to put some miles between us and the hurricane season threatening the Atlantic seaboard. We prepared Soulianis as best we could, but as Hurricane Dorian began obliterating the northern Bahamas and with Florida appearing to be next, we couldn’t help but think we’d be forced to say goodbye to our boat. A month later, while visiting family in Wisconsin, a tornado drew a path of destruction right through Lauren’s sister’s property, toppling trees and tearing the roof off of her neighbor’s garage and smashing it into her front yard — all while we hid under basement stairs. What a strange series of events… Are we cursed? Does Mother Nature have it out for us? Come along for the crazy ride. But after we had changed this part with a new one we had a great adventure on Marettimo… TheSailingFamily.com is a documentary film project about a family who just bought a sailboat and started sailing in July 2016. The next episodes will take place in Sicily in July and August 2016. Be a part of the adventure! We hope by sharing this adventure you will find some inspiration in your life. I've settled for a while on La Palma island. Comfortably moored at Marina Tazacorte. Since I'm alone again, I get some work done on Galopin. I also play. I go to a alternative festival and visit Tazacorte. Then my new Latin friends and I go out to sea. The views are sweet. Gorgeous girls all aboard. I'd heard La Palma is the most Latino of the islands, and this episode does give some truth to what is said. I already love the latin style, and I'm still an ocean away.

In this week's episode, we want to keep rolling with getting as many of our molded pieces in as possible, to try and get the boat to a lockup stage before winter. After looking back to a few weeks ago when we began work on the water tanks, we then jump back to when the transom is adhered - and the next thing to do is bring in the cockpit seats! With the help of Kentmorr Marina's finest, we manage to get them inside the tent and on deck. But, because we made changes to our boat after the transom had been molded, we need to do some trimming to get these seats fitting as they should. Tune in and Matt will tell you all about it. Enjoy!! Woken by an urgent air horn blast in the night, the steering wheel spins uselessly, and we find ourselves adrift at the mercy of the ocean waves. The disconnected rudders slamming back and forth as the steering chain has snapped in half. Ocean sailing is more about boat maintenance and fixing skills than sailing skills at times. We are in Bangkok for a few reasons... Surgery, Marley and why not check out the place whilst we are at it https://www.sailingnandji.com Such a crazy city Bangkok is. From overwhelmingly busy, cars everywhere, the never ending noise and the people on people, it was a very different experience for us little Australian family who grew up in the sticks. Living on a boat we are used to vacant beaches, palm trees and talking to rocks, now we are in the middle of truly organised chaos!! We had made the trip to Bangkok for Bonita to have emergency surgery. Now that she has been through the operation and is on the mend, we decided that with a few days left in Bangkok, we wanted to play tourist and check out something unique. The first bustling market is created on top of a train track. The shades and stalls cover the track and then 8 times a day, the vendors pull back their shades to allow the train to rattle through the market, missing their stalls and products but only inches! The second market is based from the old farming days where the rural communities were entwined by canals where the farmers would bring their fresh produce to market by boat. It has since transformed into a bustling tourist destination as the long tail boats bumper car their way through the market with stalls either side. #boatlife #sailing #sailingaroundtheworld #travel #bangkok #bangkokthailand Support us here ❤️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/Nandji Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/Sailingnandji Merch: https://sailingnandji-shop.com I recommend the coffee mug 👌 Socials and all the other places you will find us🤘 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sailingnandji Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sailing_nandji Website: https://www.sailingnandji.com SUBSCRIBE to our Newsletter on our website for updates on our adventures! In this weeks episode we take the Falcon dockside here in Carriacou, Grenada to tackle one of the last parts of our DIY rigging overhaul, the forestay. After some interesting maneuvering to get alongside the dock and some confusion amongst the line handlers, we got the boat all tied up. We then immediately got to work dropping down the roller furler tube in order to remove and replace the forestay housed within. Our first hiccup was the all too common problem of a seized and (subsequently) threaded grub screw between the furler extrusions. Thanks to a helpful passerby who happened to have the exact equipment we needed, we quickly solved that problem. Thinking that was the last of our problems, the job continued smoothly until the last step... re-installing the Sta-Lok fitting on the forestay. It was about here that everything went pear-shaped and a 1mm error in measurement derailed the entire job and delayed our departure by weeks... Feel a bit defeated, we went back out to anchor to wait for new rigging to be sent to us. Our silver lining was that even though we couldn't fix our forestay, we picked up our trusty old stays'l from the sail maker who repaired the tear... We're still one step closer to getting outta here and on the water again!
