Floors under your feet just make life .... easier. So we figured it was high time we get working on ours. Before we can even think about laying them down though, there's a number of steps we need to go through first to prep the area. Through the plans given to us by Max Cruise Marine, we need to make 90 degree flanges, which will attach to the webbing inside each hull. Then once *those* are in place, we'll have a larger and stronger surface to bond our floors to. *All scenes filmed in July, 2021 We hope you enjoy!! Much love from Annapolis! We leave the Jardines and head to Cayo Cuervo in southern Cuba. I am hoping to trade with a shrimp trawler, get some prawns from them in exchange for some rum. We find out that the trawlers are on another cay, so that will just have to wait. But we find a tiny island that you could throw a stone across with crystal clear water and coral reefs surrounding it. It is paradise people and Margarida soaks it up forgetting for a little while the covid crisis raging around the planet. Give it a thumbs up if you liked this episode! If you want a boat that does it all without overtaking the rest of your life with maintenance and storage dramas then this is the boat for you! This is a go anywhere - do anything - built like a tank and behaves in a predictable and safe manner in whatever the Southern Ocean can throw at her! Pocket Game boat is a fair description yet you could expand that to include classy day boat, adventure boat and ultimate trailer boat in my opinion. What i love about this hull is she is no-nonsense. She's got water ballast, shaft drive power and a bunch of sensible design details that just make sence for anyone who wants to go boating a lot and enjoy a platform that will keep delivering. She's a real step up for anyone coming from a half cabin fishing boat but I can actually see many guys who have owned larger vessels seeing great value in this. She is easily managed solo and has excellent range and offshore capability that she feels a lot bigger than she actually is. Even the aft cockpit feels so much more spacious than her length would suggest. I'm going to make a prediction now and say that the Tasman 80 will be a future cult classic in Australia and to any of my American mates reading this you should take a look too because the Aussie dollar makes this an even cheaper boat for you right now! At long last we arrive to the Bahamas! Things went really smoothly right up until we got smacked by an unforecast storm where we got the highest winds we'd ever experienced so far with gusts up to 45kts. All things considered I think we handled it well. We were well rewarded after the storm with a easy downwind sale and awesome couple of days exploring an uninhabited island. Adventures of Ania and Bartek with two little kids sailing across oceans on a 15 meter trimaran as a way of promoting alternative way of life off the grid. In 2014 we managed to materialize our dreams and traded a land based home in Poland for a permanent life on the ocean aboard our dearest new home - sailboat "Poly". For us sailing is a way of free life in sync and harmony with nature and each other. It's a way of experiencing life, people, and places, entirely on our own terms. For many years it was just a dream, but we followed it and it came true. We are here and now, no longer chasing the dream. We'd like to share it with you so that you can follow your dreams, too. How to properly attach your rudder to the tiller on a laser sailboat so that it never accidentally rises. 1mm of rising can result in significant speed and handling issues. Visit www.internationalsailingacademy.com for more information on live clinics and our full video. Most recreational sailors do not have their rudder properly secured and the line stretches resulting in excessive weather helm. In this video, we used the Marlow Excel Racing 3mm line to attach the rudder to the tiller. With this setup, you can leave your rudder attached to the tiller under your boat cover - this saves time for each sailing session. We also cover how to handle the "fixed" setup while launching and returning to shore. What is ISA Online? An online course where you can find the best Laser class resources available. For more test data, performance chart, detail review, captain reports and more about Monte Carlo Yachts 70 (MCY 70), go to http://www.boattest.com/boats/boat_video.aspx?ID=2748 The most striking aspect of the Monte Carlo Yachts 70 is not her aggressive new design, use of space, or interior fit-and-finish, but rather it is the vision, values and techniques that have gone into this yacht's world-class manufacturing process. In this initial review we will look at some of the differentiating factors that we think make the Monte Carlo Yachts 70, and the entire brand, the new standard for large motoryachts.

Just to be a little bit different *again* we've set up our new boat so the head has a composting toilet. There are a few reasons for this decision that you'll hear Matt discuss in the video. I take on a job of adding scuff resistant tape to the slider of our companionway, since our brand new paint has been taking a bit of a beating. Even with my tiny hands, some of the spaces were almost impossible to reach. Matt shows off all the hard work he's been putting into our electrical panel and we show off our new WeBoost system that will help us get better internet as we're traveling. To end the episode I go over some swag we've received that is up for grabs in a giveaway. Cheers from the WATER!! Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons. She’s powered by Volvo Penta’s IPS drives providing joystick maneuverability, so even novices will have no trouble expertly docking her. Luxury appointments are seen throughout this premium level cruiser. She easily transitions between black tie cocktail parties and extended cruising getaways. And of course, she comes equipped with bragging rights as the epitome of what Formula Boats has to offer.
Further north in Prince William Sound, Alaska, there are more glaciers. We go to Barry Arm glacier and find three glaciers next to each other and a majestic waterfall. The glaciers are beautiful with the different colors but it is very noticeable how the glaciers have shrunken because of the climate change. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. We're building a new boat and looking into various propulsion systems including the possibility of an electric drive. We meet the Energy Observer which is travelling around the world demonstrating the possibilities of hydrogen fuel. They are powering all ships systems, including cooking, navigation and even powering the electric motors that drive her through the water with electricity. The electricity is collected in her solar panels which cover every bit of her wide decks. The power is stored in batteries, and also in compressed hydrogen. It's the hydrogen that makes her so interesting. 00:36 Tour of the Energy Observer 04:34 What is the Energy Observer 05:23 How does Hydrogen Compare to Other Fuels 08:15 Why not just use solar panels and batteries? 09:36 Could hydrogen replace diesel fuel? 10:24 What's the best solution for sailboats? 11:44 Is hydrogen the fuel of the future? ••••••••••••••••••••••• Special Thanks to: The crew of the Energy Observer https://www.energy-observer.org Equipment: Pantaenius Yacht Insurance: https://www.pantaenius.com/uk-en/?adid=2808 BRNKL Yacht Security & Monitoring: https://www.brnkl.io/ Brunton’s Propellers: https://www.bruntonspropellers.com/ Elvstrøm Sails: https://elvstromsails.com Seldén Mast / Furlex: https://www.seldenmast.com/ Lewmar: https://www.lewmar.com/ Raymarine: https://www.raymarine.com/ Scanstrut: https://www.scanstrut.com/ Navionics Charts: https://www.navionics.com/ GN Espace Ocean Chef: https://www.gn-espace.com Highfield Classic Inflatable: https://www.highfieldboats.com Integrel On-Engine Generator: https://www.integrelmarine.com/ MG Energy Systems (lithium batteries): https://www.mgenergysystems.eu/ Ultra Anchor (35 kg): https://www.ultramarine-anchors.com/ Oceanskies Yacht Registration: https://www.oceanskies.com/yachts/ •••••••••••••••••••••• About Paul and Sheryl Shard are award-winning travel documentary television producers and videographers who have been cruising internationally since 1989 documenting their global adventures for television, social media, in books and sailing publications. First sailing day was warm and sunny but after I had 5 degrees celsius. Sailing extreme latitudes requires good clothes. I had Sandiline drysuit and sailing extreme weather was a joy. As it was sailing on the ocean I had to be sailing fast so the sailing day would not be to long. Harbors are far away. I like filming sailing videos so I took my gopro camera. My sailing yacht was not the best for this sailing expedition as it was built for lake sailing but I wanted sailing adventure. http://www.alivesailing.com/
Freshwater surfing! Kirk’s beyond stoked to get a chance to surf Lake Michigan. After leaving Charlevoix, we snuck into Leland just before a cold front moved in. The front brought strong winds that ended up sticking around for three days, which prevented us from being able to leave, but on the flip side, the sustained winds created a good sized wind swell. It wasn’t the best surfing conditions but it was more than enough to ride! We don’t have a surfboard on the boat, but were lucky enough to time our arrival in Leland with our friend Phil’s Hobie Cat company annual retreat. Phil brought Kirk an inflatable stand up paddle board to borrow for the day, and Kirk took full advantage. While waiting for the winds to subside, we spent an evening hiking up through the Whaleback Preserve, a nature reserve overlooking Lake Michigan. After day three in Leland, we got our chance to depart. The wind was still a force to be reckoned with, however. Thankfully a bunch of fellow boaters helped us get off the dock, and we were off! Hope you enjoy! Lauren & Kirk P.S. In this episode of Our RAW Ocean Life, we uncover something incredible beneath our sailboat. Join us as we dive into the unexpected!
Just days before one of the harshest lock downs in the world, we sail to Great Barrier Island off New Zealand's east coast. It was a beautiful place to be locked down, but we didn't know about the drama it would create as A LOT of boaters from Auckland decided to come join us, putting a strain on the local grocery stores and island facilities. The police crack down hard and we get permission to leave, only to be jumped on for moving by authorities halfway to our marina. It's a mess. What a crazy start to a crazy pandemic... This video was shot last March & April. Ten years ago B.K. ("before kids"), we sailed a Lagoon 380 named "Honeymoon" halfway around the world to Sydney, Australia. Along the way we shared our experiences via YouTube and, by happenstance, created one of the first "sailing channels." We also realized what an incredible experience we were having and that someday we wanted to do it again, only this time with kids. OUR ROUTE has taken us from the Boston/Cape Cod area of the United States down to the Caribbean and through the Panama Canal. We have dealt with massive repairs in the South Pacific, the Coronavirus lock down in New Zealand, a Category 5 Cyclone in Fiji, and now we are cruising in Covid Free Australia. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way. Unfold your horizons - The Dragonfly 28 sets high standards for the possibilities of a sailing boat. The perfect boat does not exist - but the Dragonfly 28 is very close to this ideal. The Dragonfly 28 comes in both a Touring, Sport and Performance version. A fantastic boat for cruising and racing with family and friends.

When Guyot Environment crashed into 11th Hour Racing near The Hague in the final leg of The Ocean Race 2023, many people were left wondering – how can two IMOCA sailboats crewed by some of the best sailors in the world possibly collide in moderate conditions with good visibility? That’s exactly what we’re going to talk about in this video. Most of the around the world Ocean Race, as the name implies, takes place in the open ocean, far from land and other boats. These boats sail at insane speeds in very rough conditions, and the decks are often completely awash in very cold sea water. Because of this, one of the most significant risks to these sailors is being swept overboard, because the likelihood of being able to retrieve somebody alive is slim to none, especially at night in rough conditions. As a result, many of these boats have fully enclosed cockpits, where the crew can operate the boat from inside, which for most of the race is much safer and more comfortable than being on deck. However, because much of the race is in the open ocean, race organizers have been adding more inshore elements to the Ocean Race to increase visibility and spectator interest to keep the sponsors happy. In the Hague the boats had to complete two laps of a square inshore course before heading off to sea and the final stop of Genoa Italy. And it’s on these inshore legs that the enclosed cockpit design of these boats is really quite sub-optimal. It’s ironic that a boat design feature that has made the boats much safer for parts of the race has arguably made them more dangerous for others, but as they say, everything in sailing is a compromise.
