To my knowledge, Gemini Catamarans are the only catamarans that are still currently built in the USA. Gemini offers a relatively affordable alternative to the new catamaran market, which seems to only have boats starting at almost half a million. This is certainly not the case with Gemini, but are they worth it? Older Gemini's can usually be gotten for less than 100k in good shape. This particular boat is a bit rough around the edges, and lacks a motor, but she's priced at $60,000. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Asking Price: $60,000 Contact Info: Misty: 940-329-3277 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make sure you make an informed decision on your next boat with this tool: http://sailingsoulianis.com/shop/ltl-boat-buying-dashboard/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not-A-Broker Consulting: https://www.patreon.com/notabrokerconsulting Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/learningthelines/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/learningthelines/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. We started out with Somnium, an O'day 272, moved onto Freebie, an Endeavour 32, and now are focusing on sailboat tours and working full time as teachers while we save up for our next boat.

Stuck for a year in a sailing boat on the equator has had its challenges, from the extreme heat, to living with the isolation on board. This part of Indian Ocean is beautiful but life behind the lens is not always as easy as it looks on camera. We share the reality of life on board as we explore this tropical paradise. Since borders closed around the world in March 2020 we have been unable to move far with Florence. As we are unable to sail home to England without stopping somewhere for provisions along the way, and those places have closed boarders, the safest thing for us to do was to stop here where we are on the equator, and we have been here ever since. We are a British couple who set off from England in 2016 to fulfill our dream of sailing around the world on our 37ft sail boat, Florence. Along the way we share the live aboard lifestyle with the highs and lows of travelling around the world by boat, our own little tiny house. Boat life out at sea on the ocean and off the grid. We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way. EXTENSIVE ENGINEERING WORK The hull design of the Grand Trawler 62 required more than 300 hours for the fluid dynamic calculations and tank testing. The data Micad collated set out the optimum vertical center of gravity (VCG) and longitudinal center of gravity (LCG) targets required to achieve the best economy, performance and seakeeping from the hull. The Grand Trawler 62 is a pioneer and exudes such virtues upon its guests on board with an exceptional range of 900 nautical miles at 9 knots. The benefit of slowing pace is the opportunity to be truly aware of your surroundings and to really see what is out there. This autonomy is achieved through the technical choices developed by BENETEAU’s engineering team and its Italian partners, naval architect MICAD and Nauta Design. Responsible, safe and comfortable, this next-generation yacht allows you to navigate in a different way. While the other Swift Trawler models feature semi-planing hulls, BENETEAU's largest trawler has a full displacement hull. A great first! Learn more: https://www.beneteau.com/us/grand-trawler/grand-trawler-62 -- About BENETEAU -- The first BENETEAU boats sailed from the shipyards of Croix-de-Vie over 135 years ago. Since that time, the BENETEAU brand has been synonymous with quality and innovation to all those who have taken to the water – first by the fishermen who made their livelihood from the sea and then by the legions of recreational boaters around the globe. Over the years, our commitment to innovating and embracing ideas, no matter how unconventional, has been at the forefront of who we are in order to bring you the best boat possible. BENETEAU was one of the first boatbuilders many years ago to use computer-aided design (CAD) as well as lighter, stronger composite building materials. We’ve also been at the cutting edge of using greener materials and processes to do our part in protecting the incredible world which we explore. However, all this innovation doesn’t mean we’ve turned our back on tradition. One thing we’ve discovered in over a century of boatbuilding is that new-world innovations work best with old-school craftsmanship. This combination has resulted in some of the most iconic sailboats and powerboats in the world – supremely seaworthy yachts renowned for their sense of style, luxury, and comfort along with their creative use of space and new technologies. -- Philosophy -- We’re a lot like you. We love the water in all its forms – the ocean, bays, lakes, and rivers. And we love sharing the boating lifestyle with our family and friends. This love manifests itself in every BENETEAU built in any one of our many manufacturing facilities worldwide. Every BENETEAU sailboat and powerboat on the water reflects the best efforts of the finest architects, designers, and craftsmen along with the highest quality materials and the latest innovations. When you purchase a BENETEAU, you become a valued member of our BENETEAU family. For this reason, our after-sale service is second to none as evidenced by the multitude of National Marine Manufacturers CSI Awards for Excellence in Customer Service. At the core of this outstanding service is our exceptional dealer network. Every one of our authorized BENETEAU dealers will be there for you – from choosing the right yacht to the handover and beyond. Your dealer will be your able guide when it comes to maintaining your boat properly and will help you maximize the return on your investment when it comes time to step up to another BENETEAU – and it usually does! We wouldn’t have it any other way. Once we submit our negative covid tests and check into customs and immigration we are free to roam. After the video of our lead keel pour came out, we received a lot of comments regarding the safety of the pour and about concerns or contamination to the surrounding area. We did our best to get information regarding such issues and went as far as calling the EPA number as well a several local agencies, all to no avail. We basically kept getting told to stop wasting their time about this... so we took a friend up on her offer to inform us on what she knows and get the soil tested! As you can see from the video, we did not create any concerning contamination of lead to the soil, nor to ourselves. The soil levels were at 7mg/Kg and the accepted EPA amount is 400mg/Kg. We put out a call for any local black locust trees that may need removal. If you are interested in our offer to come cut it down and clear the remains (including the stump) and are within 1hour of Granby, MA (01033) please get in contact with us at: acorntoarabella@gmail.com Please be sure that the trees are Black Locust and not some other variant such as Honey Locust. We are a Polish family (Ania, Bartek, Kuba and Julian) traveling the world and sailing across oceans on our floating home, a 15 meter trimaran, as a way of promoting alternative way of life off the grid. In 2014 we managed to materialize our dreams and traded a land based home in Poland for a permanent life on the ocean aboard our dearest new home - sailboat "Poly". For us sailing is a way of free life in sync and harmony with nature and each other. It's a way of experiencing life, people, and places, entirely on our own terms. For many years it was just a dream, but we followed it and it came true. We are here and now, no longer chasing the dream. We'd like to share it with you so that you can follow your dreams, too. Follow us to see all the amazing, interesting, crazy, scary, and funny people, places and situations that we experience and learn from. Welcome to our family life unplugged. The Krogen Express 52' is a boat made for coastal cruising and clearly spending long times away from the dock. First off, it’s important to make the distinction that this isn't a Kadey-Krogen. It's a Krogen Express. There's a definite distinction between the two. A Kadey-Krogen is a full displacement yacht. This is semi-displacement. They're both designed by Jim Krogen, but definitely different yards, different companies and different operating characteristics. So with that said, the first thing I want to look at is the livability. For our in-depth Captain’s Report, test and performance data on the 52', visit https://boattest.com/boat/krogen-express/52-2021 Not a BoatTEST member? Sign up now and get our newsletter! With the main mast step finished, it's time to make the mizzen mast step. This one is significantly smaller as it will hold a significantly smaller mast and take less of a load. It feels like we're installing a sculpture as integral part of the boat! It's very satisfying to be making beautiful things that then come together into a working final product. We also get started on another very exciting project which will be coming up in more videos soon. Many of the re-sawn offcuts from the planking material have been sitting in the shop waiting to be used. Now is their time to shine! Thank you for watching this week, and as always, for the support. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. We were really excited to take a look at this catamaran. At an estimated new MSRP of between $300,000 - $350,000, the Seawind 1160 Lite is one of the most affordable new catamarans out there. We wish that more catamaran companies would make smaller and more affordable ocean-going catamarans. The general theme of the Annapolis boat show was the "bigger is better" mentality which we certainly don't agree with, naturally so seeing a catamaran of this size was a nice breath of fresh air. We absolutely love getting off the beaten path, exploring remote islands, and living off the sea. It’s our favorite aspect of the sailing lifestyle. But in order to do this, we need to have an extremely reliable outboard engine. If it breaks down in the middle of nowhere, not only does it mean not having fun, but we could also be stranded miles from the boat. Ever wonder what a cruising outboard looks like after 5 years of heavy use? In this episode Jordan does a full inspection of our Tohatsu 8HP 4 stroke outboard engine. We also get to have couple drinks on a beautiful beach with @SailingSophisticatedLady ! Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! Thanks to 'Easy' Mike Jacoby for being a brilliant guest presenter. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. Bringing Yabá from wreck to dreamy! Episode 56 First of all, we hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving! In this episode, we add our final layer to the bulwark except for next to the superstructure/the windows as that is where we are applying a big change to the original design of Yabá! We had been imagining this change for a while but now we can finally see it applied to the boat. It is exactly how we imagined it...or even better. We can't wait to completely finish the bulwark because the next steps are going to be amazing and look epic! Enjoy the episode and have a great Sunday! 👉 SUBSCRIBE to not miss out on the new episodes: https://bit.ly/3dI3hBn SUPPORT OUR PROJECT: 👉 By becoming a patron - join to unlock exclusive content: https://www.patreon.com/sailingyaba 👉 Through Paypal donations: https://bit.ly/3kR4Ezo or sailingyaba@gmail.com 👉 By wearing our products: https://sailingyaba.creator-spring.com We are forever grateful to everyone that is living our dream with us ♥️ 💙 Who are we? We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted 70ft wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the works needed were a lot more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way. They say "Do something you love, and you'll never work another day of your life", but when a tool doesn't do what it should and the task list for the day has a few boxes left unchecked, it really feels like work. Despite that, Steve soldiers on and nearly finishes the mast blocking, using a new tool that Joe refurbished for us. That leaves only a few more pieces to put in place before the main deck structure is finished. As soon as that is done, the diesel engine can get lowered into place. Stay tuned! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interesting in supporting/helping here are a few ways: Acorn to Arabella wishlist: http://www.acorntoarabella.com/acorn-to-arabella-wishlist Jamestown Distributors Referral: If you are going to shop at Jamestown Distributors, please consider using our Total Boat referral code: http://totalboat.refr.cc/steveandalixa?t=tg Recurring support via Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Original Soundtrack available at benfundis.bandcamp.com FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com
