#hugefish #lovefishing I get my first tuna, very exciting! Such a big one, 50 steaks in the freezer! Sushi night then! In this episode we are getting up very early and go on our mission to go up North to cross to Italy. We get some bad weather on the way, very strong winds which is very scary. We find this harbour full of turtles, really nice. Port police were very demanding asking us to go to their office and show them our documents. We had water inside the boat, is never a good thing, but we think we know what happened. SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. As the 35th hull number in the series, NaviGator benefits from all of the major improvements developed over the first few years of production including the following and more; 24V electrical, full size watch berth in the pilothouse, opening hatch in the master stateroom; and the best equipment selections such as a Steelhead crane, Lugger wing engine and ABT TRAC active fin stabilizers - all important additions that simply were not available on earlier hulls. When the initial discussions for her order were planned the owners originally considered the larger Nordhavn 55 model, but quickly realized they didn’t need all of the extra space (and surface area to maintain) and wisely pursued the perfect exceptionally outfitted Nordhavn 47 that did not crowd their budget. The Nordhavn 47 standard boat pricing package was a very basic. Nearly all of the most popular available published options were purchased to complete NaviGator. The primary improvements and upgrades incorporated are: two cabin layout, flybridge with hard top, fiberglass stack for the main engine exhaust and a crane for launching the dinghy. Many other subtle preferences were also incorporated such as the concealed flat screen television lift in the saloon and a Viking professional stove and oven in the galley. With SidePower electric bow and stern thrusters they can dock safely in any marina and with their Rocna anchor and Water Makers, Inc. 600 GPD water maker they can anchor independently in the Bahamas for days on end in isolated splendor running the generator to power the air conditioner while snorkeling and enjoying the sun. Very few yachts (sail or power) can compete with the capability of the Nordhavn 47 for comfort and reliability as a long distance, ocean-crossing vessel. Nordhavn 47 sisterships have crossed the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and it is considered routine to travel over 2,000 miles nonstop from port to port as dozens have done successfully. With over 50 hulls completed there are over one million miles traveled by Nordhavn 47s as reported in the PAE Distance Pennant Program. NaviGator has a fantastic layout for an active owner operator couple. Her size is large enough for generous accommodations, but also appropriate for boat handling and managing maintenance. Her interior layout features two staterooms and two heads. The engine room has standing headroom, for easier service inspections. The raised pilothouse with flybridge above gives a wonderful choice for commanding her underway. The entry level has a spacious saloon and an ideal offshore galley. Ultraleather upholstery, fitted carpet, custom blinds, granite counters and additional handrails enhance the luxury aboard. #JMYS, #Nordhavn47, #TalkThroughTour, #Trawlers Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jeffmerrillyachtsales/?fref=nf Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/merrillyachts Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jmystrawlers/ Offered by Jeff Merrill Yacht Sales, Inc. Lake Pupuke is the place where sailors in Auckland head to when they want to test themselves and have a frustrating yet awesome day of racing and training. We headed to the Lake to catch up with Ryan Harden and Luke Cashmore, who are heading off to the Laser Radial Youth Worlds in Germany in a couple of weeks. Ryan and Luke use the flukey Lake Pupuke conditions to streamline their skills and to focus on the areas that need improvement. We also got to see the The Mighty P Class sailors in action, and chatted with Dave Ridley who is reinventing himself as a Laser sailor!

I never dreamed Hangtime would get to Nova Scotia. It was an absolute dream to bring her through the Canso Causeway and onward to Antigonish. We had an incredible summer rediscovering the area where I grew up. Highland games were particularly memorable this year with an in house Chase the Ace contest and an epic slip and slide. My brother and his family joined us for a trip to Prince Edward Island. ----------------------------------------- Subscribe at: www.youtube.com/c/sailinghangtime Posting on: https://www.facebook.com/sailinghangtime https://www.instagram.com/sailinghangtime/ Recent Videos: https://youtu.be/YeT8XPvjKBI https://youtu.be/eMUZ5mzoRlI -------------------------------------------- About us: We are a family of four who have been living on our boat for the past 2+ years with our two boys and our newest addition, a Havanese pup named Ruby. We worked hard in our 20's and 30's and built a company that has an amazing team managing it and allows us to work remotely and enjoy this time with our fmaily. We love adeventure, sports and an active lifestyle but also take pleasure in a great meal or a sunset gin and tonic. We spend summer in Kotor, it is a unique city of Montenegro and we loved our time! We enjoy the numerous hikes that are on offer, completing the Ladder of Kotor and Vrmac Ridge from Kotor to Tivat. Both are awesome hikes and offer amazing views as well as the chance to stumble upon historical sites. The old town of Kotor is buzzing during the night and we are fortunate to witness fantastic musicians. Jason celebrates his birthday in Perast where we take a boat trip across the bay to Verige 65 restaurant and passed Lady of the Rocks. Music 1. The boat utilises a hard-chined, plywood construction and this design of boat is a proven, capable, ocean-going vessel. Boat building with plywood is a relatively easy and cost-effective way to produce a strong, monocoque-style boat hull. These videos aim to show the way in which I go about it. Thank you! Tony

The reality of Red Tide on Siesta Key Beach is worse than the reality TV show about Siesta Key Beach. We took a trip to Siesta Key Beach, Cape Coral yacht club, and Sanibel Island, Florida just to see what the situation really looks like. it is bad. the dead fish cover the beach and shore line. lots of work is being done to clean up, but the damage to the fisheries and tourism is done. The smell was over powering. it was difficult to not cough every couple of minutes. Melissa and I wore respirator because we knew we would be out all day in the Red Tide and Blue Green algae affected areas. It is hard to believe that the blue green algae plums could be prevented better water management systems for the run off from Lake Okeechobee. This is The Boat Life. Nic Morganti and Melissa Auman are moving onto a sailboat. The plan was sell everything, buy a boat, live on a boat, and travel and explore the Caribbean and the world while living aboard! You can check that video out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSWCtDT2E0U The following morning we wanted to get some exercise and have a little bit of an adventure, so we took the dinghy around to the south end of Shroud Cay to the windward side. The beaches here on Shroud Cay have been some of the best we have found so far on our trip! The sand is clean, white and soft between our toes. After exploring a bit on the Island, we pulled up anchor and set sail for Highborne Cay. Highborne Cay is a great stop-over before leaving The Exumas and crossing the Yellow Bank towards Nassau. We had a fantastic day of sailing with perfect wind conditions keeping us at a steady speed. We love it when we are able to sail from Island to Island without the need of running the engine. We spent the night at Highborne Cay, anchored in just about the exact same spot as the last time we were there. The following morning we woke up and set sail across the Yellow Bank towards Nassau and are planning on anchoring for the night at Rose Island. Rose Island is located just a bit North-East of Nassau, and has fantastic anchorages on the Northern side of the island with great beaches. So far we have only anchored on the South side, but we will get to the Northern side here in the next couple of days after we pick up our friends in Nassau! Thanks for watching! David talks about race strategy, sleep patterns, nutrition and sail performance management. He also shares his challenges and set backs which include; battery charging problems, bilge pump failure, loss of autopilot, tainted drinking water, dysentery, dropping a spinnaker into the sea, when a hoist went wrong and wrapping his spinnaker around his forestay for the 4 days of the race. In this first edition of the Z-Budget, you will be able to review our monthly expenses and what it costs us to sail around the world! **Please note** Remember that Fuel for us is not just for transportation, fuel also runs our generators which power all our systems and water maker. So if you are doing a comparison, compare our fuel cost to your gas bill, electric bill, fuel costs, and monthly water bill. We are currently installing solar panels to reduce the generator usage which will reduce fuel costs. Videos made entirely by us! All videos on our channel are rated PG with a dash of PG-13 thrown in from time to time just to shake things up a bit. But they’re safe to share with your friends, your grandma, or your church. So if you wish to support our video efforts all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, and SHARE on your Facebook Page or Instagram or SnapChat or ChapStick or MySpace or whatever the latest social media craze is. Learn how to tie a stronger soft shackle, this light weight alternative to a standard shackles gives you the strength of an ordinary shackle without using metal which can often damage your hull, spares or sails. It has twice the breaking strain of the standard soft shackle making it ideal of high load use cases. Please note that the commentary and table from the 55 sec to the 1min 15 sec mark should reference the Circumference not the Diameter of the soft shackle. If you liked the demonstration on how to create a stronger soft shackle and want to give it a go yourself you can get purchase the tools used in this video by following the links below :- Ronstan Splicing Kit (55376) https://amzn.to/3hnXT5I Carbon Steel Shears 6-1/4 inch - Kevlar, Dyneema, Vectran, Spectra https://amzn.to/3goCtUL With increased strength of modern Dyneema rope you can now make your shackles out of relatively thin rope while still getting a product which is more than likely still stronger than the metal alternatives. If you want to make your shackles stronger again update your knot to a Button Knot. The larger diameter of the button knot increases the weakest point of the shackle, were the loop rest against the knot under load. You will need to allow a little more rope to tie the Button Knot, it is however worth the additional strength you gain. Fatu Hiva: The golden anchorage of the Marquesas! The crowd of yachts arriving from their pacific crossing, is surrounded by steep, intimidating pillars covered in foliage and mountain goats! The valley cuts deep into the mountainside of the island and is covered with an abundance of pamplemousse, mangoes, limes, squeeling piglets and barking doggies. Absolute heaven! We share a fabulous dinner at a locals house with other yachts in the bay, before setting off first thing the next morning for the Tuatomotus. On the way, we have a immensely rare ancounter where we not only come across another yacht at sea (fairly uncommon…) but it happens to be our great friends Ross & Jo Blackman off Soujourn II. We manage to swap some delicious apple bran muffins for some Wahoo that we still have going from when we departed Tahuata last episode. We also take some mint shots of this ocean encounter as not often do you manage to get shots of both of you standing on the side of your yacht in the middle of the ocean while it is sailing.. Such a cool experience for both boats. The wind changes as a storm starts to pass through and we get westerlies blowing us the wrong way, so we opt to change course and follow Soujourn II into the atoll of Raroia. We drop anchor here and get ready to wade out the weather system until it changes back to the handy trades that can help us sail further east. This is a very important discussion between Tom Erman of Sailing Illustrated and Bill Canfield of the Virgin Islands Sailing association on their submission to the World Sailing organisation on changing how Sailing is administrated as clearly the current situation is critical. This is important to all sailors and here is the reasoning behind it. Please watch and if alarmed follow the discussion on www.sailingillustrated.com and our website www.boatson.tv Sailing needs your support.
