How to tie the Water Bowline knot 🥨 : (Vulcan method). I really like this knot because, well, I like super-charged knots, and this is a bowline with a bit of extra spinach. ... It's really useful for tying off your 🚤 tender to the dock (a Bowline knot can slip if it's pushed and pulled) . It's called the Water Bowline because it likes getting wet. Perfect! .... If you use the Vulcan method, (see our video how to tie a Spock Bowline as well), it's dead easy. ... First off, make that Vulcan Salute 🖖 and remember to mutter "Live Long and Prosper" under your breath. Not too loud otherwise the other yachties might start staring at you. ... Now loop your working end round your 3rd and 4th fingers like you would in the Bowline. Now make another loop around your 1st and second fingers. ... If you are tying off to a ring, this would be a good time to feed it through and back. ... Now you are just going to get your 🐰 rabbit (working end) up and down 2 holes instead of one. Easy! When you come back round the standing end, just follow the line back and you have your turbo-charged Bowline. If a dinghy drifts off the dock, I bet it's not yours, you'll be the one smirking over a cold beer.

Before Dilly-Dally is going to the hard for a couple of days to get a new underwater dress, we sailed once again to the sunken city of Kekova. A really lovely spot especially before season starts. Some of the restaurants in Kaleköy suffer from huge damages caused by the enormous storm in February. While the owners are still repairing their restaurants they found time to cook us fabulous meal.

We leave the Bahamas for a 400nm passage to Charleston, SC using the Gulf Stream to whip us north at 11 kts before the wind turns against us. After a rough start the previous episode we find our headsail is torn, then during this passage one of the chain plates pops out of the deck! First I sail across the Channel from Cherbourg, FRA to Falmouth, UK; then after a quick stop I head out into the Western Approaches and begin to share with you the first part of my Open 60 Sailing Transat 101. I discuss how to drop the mainsail solo, have FPV footage of some foredeck work and talk through some initial gremlins I had to subdue in the Auto pilot system. While working on this new catamaran line, the shipyard’s in-house designers have been looking for ways to express the spirit of a classic sail yacht through modern marine architecture. As the first drawings were made, the idea became clear. An all-around sailing yacht range ideal for exclusive getaways, charter and transoceanic adventures emerged. Sunreef Yachts unveiled the range’s first details by presenting a scale model of the Sunreef 60 during last year’s Cannes Yachting Festival. This year, the Sunreef 60 and Sunreef 80 are joining the Cannes line up in full bloom.

July 2018 In Episode 2, we took off for a 15 hour drive down the coast, stopping to drop off our little cutie, Sparticus while we participated in the survey and sea trial of our dream yacht, a 2005 Lagoon 440 with hybrid Solomon electric drives. She’s one-of-a-kind, and our fingers and toes were crossed that she was solid, because we were absolutely stretched budget wise. After we got home, the surveyor for our 1996 Sea Ray Sedan Bridge 370 arrived and Erik got to put her power to the test on an absolutely beautiful summer day on the Chesapeake Bay.
