Trailer sailing the wrecks of NE Port Phillip Bay including the HMAS Cerberus, HMS J7 Submarine and an unknown wreck at Altona Beach. I sail Neringa my RL28 from St.Helens in Geelong to Portarlington for the night. Previously installed ballast and a new mainsail showed their worth with 6 to 7 knots in a 17 knot breeze with only 10 to 15 degrees of heel. Then on to Black Rock and the Cerberus followed by Sandringham Yacht Club marina and the J7 submarine. On to Williamstown for the night before sailing back to Geelong the following day with a look at the small unknown wreck on Altona beach. With light winds the sail to Geelong took 10 hours with the wind rarely getting above 10 knots.

This park is a hidden jewel, great place to fish, workout, or just relax. With covered picnic tables and charcoal grills, it is a wonderful place to take the family. There is also plenty for kids, with a well-maintained playground and great trails with a workout path. If you have love rocks this is a great place to leave your mark by exchanging with other lover rocks you may find. Danielle and I were going to go explore a more beachy location, but with spring break in full swing, plans change. There were 2 million more people in Tampa for spring break than last year, but there was plenty of room and parking at this park. We even tried to work out, we're not as young as we where in our Army days. Ep 39. Those of you guys who have been following for a while will know about our issues with our Gennaker. More precisely, that bloody sail has been a nightmare for us that culminated in the middle of the Atlantic when it split into 2 halves. The sail loft in Saint Martin were great and pointed out to us that we’ve been flying it back to front the whole time since we started sailing! Apparently, the luff of the sail should be the longer edge. We’ve also now installed it in a sock as the sail isn’t really suitable to be used with a furler as it doesn’t have a torsion rope. After getting all our jobs done in Saint Martin, we clear out of customs and set sail for the British Virgin Islands with a cheeky little stop off on a deserted little island called Dog Island as it leaves us with a nice day light sail to get to BVI. After a romantic Valentines day and night as the only boat anchored on Dog Island, we set off for BVI. We were expecting a 12 hour sail but with 20kt winds off our starboard quarter we were flying. We managed 12kts in flat seas as we approached Richard Branson’s island called Necker which unfortunately I didn’t get on camera so you’ll have to take my word for it. We’ve got our act together at long last and are planning to have a new episode uploaded for you every Sunday morning. Check back next week where we start exploring the amazing British Virgin Islands. After the Christmas celebrations in Spain, we head back to make a tour of England to visit family , friends and collect our Czech passports before Brexit. We head to the old market place in Kingston Upon Thames where seven Saxon Kings were crowned and to Kew Gardens for the Christmas light show " Lit Up Kew" where I use to go as a child. We visited our home village of Rottingdean an old Saxon farming community and went ice skating outside the Brighton Pavilion and we were reminded of how much we miss our special friends and family back home. As we headed further North we got very active and took the kids to Adrenaline Alley , the biggest skate park in UK and then Bounce, a trampoline park. To celebrate New Year 2019, we went for a walk in the woods with the kids new walkie talkies where they got lost again. We headed further North and went to Seaham Harbour with family where we collected sea glass on the beach. Finally, we started to head South again to Manchester, the heart of the industrial revolution and a big music scene. We were impressed by the barges yet again and Woody praised superb architecture of the industrial revolution We warmed up with a visit to the science museum where we saw the original "Stevensons Rocket" and then walked through the modern city to the John Rylands library where the children were able to examine the exquisite interior using binoculars, magnifying glasses and a quizz. Even further South, we went for a glorious walk in the Cotswolds , an area of outstanding natural beauty before heading back to the Czech Embassy to collect our Passports before Brexit. Our adventure continues as we continue to learn how to sail by crewing on races, take the helm for the first time, and overcome our nerves to take a boat out on a windy day on beautiful Lake Pepin. We still have no idea what we are going but we are having a lot of fun trying to figure it out! This crazy adventure started in early 2018 as we started researching how to learn to sail, buy a boat, outfit her, and take off for a life on the open seas! There has been a huge learning curve trying to make all of this happen and we want to share with you everything that we have learned and have some fun along the way. We are excited (and a little nervous!) to share this journey with you. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

It seems like a mountain of impossibilities, never in my life would I have imagined: 1. I'd drive a dinghy 5 miles out into the open ocean. 2. I'd be comfortable enough to jump into the deep abyss and just start swimming. 3. I'd get to watch a massive humpback whale swim right up and look into my soul (and nearly touch my camera with his nose). I know some people will feel strongly about this vid, but you should know we had conversations with several whale tour operators, the FP government and the whale protection agency. We did our research and have written approval before we attempted to swim with Humpback Whales without a guide. At this time 2018/2019 it is legal to swim with the whales in French Polynesia from a private boat...as long as you understand and follow the rules, but most importantly they want you to respect the whales. I truly hope you enjoy this adventure. I (Jason) invested about 3x as many hours as I should have in the video edit, and Nikki scoured through 3000+ images to narrow it down for the article on our site. Das wohl meist verwendete Wort bei uns... Das Segeln an sich... die Segelboote... die Technik und Ausrüstung... Alles ein großer Kompromiss. Größe eines Segelbootes, Preis, Material, Segeleigenschaften... Das geht alles gegeneinander und lässt sich nur schwer miteinander vereinbaren. Wir haben einen Gast eingeladen, der beim Segeln keine Lust auf einen Kompromiss hat, der ihm nicht gefällt. Denn er baut sich seine eigene Segelyacht und nennt das Projekt "Next Generation Yachting". Für seine VOLT ist ein E-Antrieb vorgesehen, weshalb wir natürlich sehr interessiert an dem Thema sind. Das Ziel bei der VOLT ist es Performance, Sicherheit, Nachhaltigkeit und Wirtschaftlichkeit unter einen Hut zu bekommen und ein Segelboot mit möglichst wenig Kompromissen zu bauen. Was genau das Projekt ausmacht und worum es geht, darüber sprechen wir im Podcast.
