In this episode I become...stumped! We have installed a brand new transmission. And new control cables for the gears and governor. This replaces items over thirty (30) years old. Plus, a brand new Damper Plate/Coupler to boot! But there is a problem...the ratio of the new replacement transmission is quite different that the old....especially in Forward gear. But even in Reverse I am just not getting the correct power to even maneuver out of the slip! How do I solve this problem....I barely have enough power to get out of my slip! What is the problem? Is it the 'wrong' transmission? Does it need a new, more efficient propellor rated to the new ratio? Should I get a new three (3) blade prop instead of the 2-blade I have? Is the hull and propellor fouled? Is there rope entwined around the shaft or propellor. Why the decrease in power... I don't know! In this video, BuzzFeed producer Erin Phraner shares her famous recipe for jam bar cookies. This is an easy dessert that her friends and family ask for & she hasn't shared the recipe until NOW! Bookmark this and make these easy cookies for your next potluck or family holiday. Butter cookie, strawberry jam, crumb topping—this buttery dessert is perfect for spring. Here's how it's done... JAM BARS SERVES: 8 to 10 1 stick unsalted butter, softened 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup packed light-brown sugar 1 egg yolk 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 cup old-fashioned oatmeal 1/2 cup jam (your choice of flavor), stirred to loosen 1. Preheat the oven to 350˚F. Butter a 8- or 9-inch baking dish & set aside. 2. Beat the butter and both sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg yolk. 3. In another bowl, whisk the flour, cinnamon, salt and baking soda. 4. Add the flour mixture and oatmeal to the butter mixture and mix with your hands until combined and it forms crumbs when pinched between your fingers. 5. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Top with the jam, stopping about 1/2 tsp from the edges. Press the remaining dough into crumbs and scatter over top, covering all of the jam. 6. Bake 25-30 minutes until golden, let cool completely in the pan before cutting.

The Azimut 85 is stately, luxurious and panoramic. SEA HAWK yacht features intelligent architecture. Her layout is easily adapted to a range of requirements and moods, from intimate to exuberant. The main deck works beautifully as an integrated whole. Her open galley and raised helm seating area are within view of the salon. Ample windows on both decks, dilated volume and an “original” layout are only a few of the many assets on this gorgeous Azimut 85 flybridge.

We have outfitted her with 1300 watts of solar and over 2000 Ah in batteries. We walk you through our solar and power setup including components and numerous battery banks. We are Shawn, Jessie, Mojo and Voodoo. We started our Youtube channel, Big Easy Sailing, to document our journey on our 1972 Gulfstar 36 sailboat. A unique gift for our special friend Miguel. In the true spirit of cruising, we took what we already had and made something new. An old and broken spinnaker from our New Zealand friends @youngbarnacles, that would have otherwise been thrown in the bin was recycled into a customized vela Latina sail. Great to see how professionals work! A book, 2 measurements, and a lot of creativity was used. We hope one day to see our sail in action on the Mar Menor! Want to know what sailing is about? Plain and simple it's about the wind. This is what sailing is all about. And in Cape Verde there is no shortage of wind. We sail from Sao Vicente island to the island of Santa Luzia. A uninhabited island and nature preserve. On the way there we sail in common Cape Verdean conditions. Strong winds and swell. I make a tactical error which makes for good sailing practice. We end up going upwind and tacking for several hours getting soaked and salty. In the end it's all worth it. Until we are approached by pirates. What sailor's fear most. Please make your voice heard: Subscribe, like, dislike, or comment. With over 30% of all my viewers coming from the United States I thought it was about time I featured one of their Iconic builders; BERTRAM Yachts! This brand is practically a household name in America and not only has a wonderful history but is also building some very interesting models that should assure a prosperous future for the company. I was hoping to visit the Bertram stand during the forthcoming Palm Beach Yacht Show, but since filming this video my trip has been put back to the end of April - when I look forward to re-visiting the country that has brought the world such great sports fisher yachts!

Season 4 | Episode 60 | Exploring Little Harbor on Catalina Island Hello Friends! Coming in after dark we looked over the charts and sounded our way into 30ft of water and dropped the hook. Sailing into an anchorage after dark is not advised but sometimes it is necessary and you just have to deal with it. We had both paper charts and digital charts and could see land masses for points of reference so we new we were anchored in a safe spot. Sailors have been anchoring in the dark for centuries but I feel the need to include this in the description because someone insulted me and questioned by seamanship because we anchored after dark, and its more than likely that that person as only ever gone day sailing and doesn't understand that when you are cruising sometimes you have to deal with situations that are not ideal, which is what we did, and we did it perfectly. While the location we ended up anchoring in was safe it was not at all comfortable. We spent a very rolly night with a heavy swell rolling in but our anchor alarm never sounded and the hook held fast. Upon first light and after a cup of coffee I hauled up the hook and we moved in closer to shore and behind the natural breakwater that makes Little Harbor such a wonderful anchorage. Finally dropping the hook with 9 ft of water under our keel. This clear skies and a warm sun I took Camille out for her first ever snorkeling. As we both floated next to the boat Camille put her face in the water and pulled it right out and said "there are two massive rays below us"! The snorkeling was truly incredible and we got to see our first ever "Shovel nosed guitar fish" who circled back to give us a look. After a full day of snorkeling and swimming we went ashore in search of Bison. Legend has it that a herd of Bison were brought to Catalina in the 1920s for a movie shoot and have remained there ever since. We quickly found a pair and watched these mellow creatures for awhile. Little Harbor ended up being the most amazing anchorage of the trip and editing this video for you all has made us want to go back RIGHT NOW! The weather does not seem to be letting up, and we need to take Elements on her last sail from Sao Miguel to Terceria. Passing up on what seemed like the best window at the time, we enjoy what we know will be our last week in Ponta Delgada...what has now become one of our favorite cruising cities to relax in. And even though storm after storm rolls through and we even go to a rooftop bar to watch 4 meter waves roll by outside the harbor...just two days later we're on our way again. Making the overnight sail, we're surprised at how nice conditions are as we leave and even have the perfect send off with a group of dolphins that come to say hello. Conditions do get a little rougher in the morning, but we're still able to make it safely into Angra do Heroismo. Much love from the Azores! Jessica, Matt & Georgie Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons. On last weeks episode, our sail departing Martinique was a rather exciting one. WE had immediately hooked a marlin leaving the shores of Martinique en route for Dominica. It took the entire sail to filet the guy all the way into anchorage in Roseau (about 2 hours). This week, after the catch we made friends easily by sharing with neighboring boats in our new anchorage Roseau, Dominica. The recent hurricane of Irma impacted the shores, homes and local fishing villages of the island, where at first look is rather rough. However, the people of Dominica are still all smiles and are eager to make sure any visitors experience the place to the max. The following days we sailed north of the island to a small anchorage called Portsmouth. This warm welcoming community of yachty servicemen impressed us from the first hello. It was clear that the destruction of the hurricane has left the people of Dominica with very little yet they are still so inclined to give and share their home with every passerby. Here we experienced a very tranquil river tour with one of the original tour guides, a local named Albert. The Indian River tour was a highlight of the whole trip and unlike anything we have seen yet. Another major highlight of our trip is meeting other cruisers and meeting so many incredible people from all over the world. What else could you want when you are enjoying cocktails on the beach at sunset with fantastic people in the heart of the Caribbean. We hope you enjoy this latest episode! We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon
