Our boat almost SANK - NOW WHAT? | 83 | Beau and Brandy Sailing If you watched last week, we were rescued by two fishermen about 60 nautical miles of the coast of Grenada. After patching the crack with underwater epoxy that the fishermen passed us, we were able to stop the leak and finish our VERY SLOW sail to Grenada. We have some friends that help us get our boat hauled out in Clark’s Court Marina. While on the hard, Beau gets some professional advice on the best way to fix the crack. We have a week on the dry and we have a lot of work to do. After grinding and sanding, we find more cracks on the port side in the same place that we found the crack on the starboard side. We also take out the water tank because it is causing damage to the freeboard, so we will be installing a water bladder mid ship for the future. Days and night of sanding, grinding, laying fiberglass and more sanding, we are ready to get Saoirse back in the boat and see if she will FLOAT! We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. The 2019 season on Strangford Lough in Northern Island saw some big breezes with at least 6 races sailed in ove 20 knots, with a few rain squalls peaking above 40. The team on GTR racing stayed calm through all the big blows, with tight team work and expert trimming getting the boat setup to glide through the waves onto more that 1 victory when the wind was up. Der Umzug aufs Boot steht an. Wir misten aus und verkaufen unsere Sachen, bevor wir neue Dinge für das Leben auf dem Wasser kaufen (Faltboot und Campingwaschmaschine). Um unsere Yacht Zora vorzubereiten, fliegen wir nach Griechenland und lassen Zora an Land stellen. Leichter gesagt als getan, da sich ein Seil in unserem Propeller verfangen und wir Zora nicht bewegen können. _Unser Kanal_______________________________________________________ Wir segeln: Wir haben unser Leben in Deutschland aufgegeben, ein altes Segelboot gekauft und sind einfach losgefahren. Nun arbeiten wir an der Bootssanierung und segeln gleichzeitig durch Griechenland quasi Refit und Langfahrt in einem. Seit zwei Jahren sind wir mit unserer 40 Jahre alten Segelyacht unterwegs, dabei haben wir viel weniger Seemeilen geschafft als gedacht. Aber auch viel mehr erlebt und gelernt, als wir uns vorgestellt hatten. Komm mit und lerne von unseren Fehlern und Erfolgen. Wir teilen unsere glücklichen Momente aber auch die Katastrophen.
