In the first days of October I went to the most southern tip of Mozambique to explore the underwaterworld of Ponta do Ouro. Just one kilometer away from the South African border you can explore divesites full of fish and large megafauna (Bull Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Silver Tip Sharks, Manta Rays and many more). But I also encountered bad visibility and a water temperature of about 19-20 degrees which is quite unusual for this time of the year. Maybe the best part about the months September and October, is the constant sighting of humpback whales from shore or from the zodiac (speedboat). Drake and Sofia Sweet, a brother and sister team, love the ocean. They moved to Florida at the age of 3 and have been water babies ever since. Growing up on the ocean and seeing such an increase in pollution over the last few decades has caused them much concern. While out spearfishing and sailing they began to regularly see balloons, cans, water bottles, food wrappers, plastics and other materials toxic to sea life and the ocean ecosystem.
