We'd like your help! We've made some very good friends these past years via the project. A lot of which are doing some very cool things. At the last WoodenBoat Show at Mystic Seaport, we met up with a group of them and hatched a plan. Our friends at SAILCARGO have set up a ship yard in Costa Rica and are building a 147ft (45m) cargo ship from sustainably harvested wood with the plan of sailing cargo up and down the west coast of the Americas. Along with building the boat, they also provide some community events, teaching locals classes, including boat building. While we were chatting at the show we and a few other friends decided to all storm the place in February and teach a course on simple forging and tool making techniques. Before we head down there though, we would like to ship down some tools to help with the class and the boatyard. We're asking anyone who would like to help by donating tools or supplies to send us what they have. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Acorn to Arabella wishlist: http://www.acorntoarabella.com/acorn-to-arabella-wishlist Jamestown Distributors Referral: If you are going to shop at Jamestown Distributors, please consider using our Total Boat referral code: http://totalboat.refr.cc/steveandalixa?t=tg FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com
