An International Jury has decided Team Holcim-PRB is entitled to redress for Leg 1. Holcim-PRB's finishing position in Leg 1 will be equal to its average finishing position at the finish of legs 2 to 5 of The Ocean Race Europe. The team had been forced to retire from Leg 1 of The Ocean Race Europe after a collision with Allagrande Mapei Racing. Both boats retired after the contact which came in the moments after the start of the race in Kiel, Germany two weeks ago. The Jury said no further penalties would be imposed on either team (beyond retiring from the opening stage) but that Holcim-PRB should be given redress (i.e. scoring points for leg 1) for being knocked out of the leg. Are the Sprint Gate's good for The Ocean Race Europe, or are IMOCA yachts unsuitable for this kind of tight racing? Give us your views in the comments and have a read of https://www.sail-world.com/news/289158/Blurring-the-line-between-sport-and-entertainment for further thoughts from me.

Before Leg 2 even began, the race was on for Holcim-PRB and Allagrande Mapei to make it to Portsmouth in time for the start after competing repairs from their Leg 1 Start crash. Thanks to the Kiel Canal they both made it in time, bringing the fleet back to full strength. Portsmouth gave a great reception to the fleet, and the crowds were out in force to send them off on Leg 2 to Cartagena with the Porto Fly-By. Thankfully there was no repeat of the drama we saw in Kiel, with the sailors choosing conservative starts in 10 to 14 knots of wind off the Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes. It was once again Paul Meilhat's Biotherm taking the two points, followed by Paprec Arkéa gained a single point at The Needles scoring gate. Once past the Needles and into Christchurch Bay the IMOCA yachts were doing what they do best – flying. At the Matosinhos Fly-By it was once again Biotherm taking the spoils, extending their perfect record in the race, but they were pushed all the way by Paprec Arkéa, who had to fight through the pack after losing ground at a tidal gate off Brittany. The leg also saw some spectacular sighting of whales and dolphins playing with the fleet. Yoann Richomme's Paprec Arkéa blasted down the Portuguese coast to take the lead, with Biotherm and Holcim-PRB on their heels. The fleet then made the turn at Gibraltar, exiting the Atlantic Ocean, and into the Med. At the finish in Cartagena it was once again the Biotherm team who took the win, retaking the lead in the Mediterranean on the closing stretch, with the returning Holcim-PRB second and Paprec Arkéa third. After enduring four relentless days of 51+ knots in Mpatsi, this week we finally set sail again—this time heading south, harnessing the infamous Meltemi winds to push us all the way to Milos. The Meltemi is feared and respected by sailors for good reason. It’s strong, unpredictable, and exhausting—but also exhilarating when used to your advantage. Along the way, we couldn’t help but ask ourselves the question every sailor in Greece eventually faces: is it really worth it to sail through the Meltemi? The short answer: absolutely yes. Because Greece is not just about the sailing. It’s about the islands, the history, the food, and more than anything—the people. Every Greek we’ve met has been warmer, kinder, and more welcoming than the last. And it’s this spirit that makes enduring the Meltemi winds not just worthwhile, but unforgettable. Come aboard as we surf down Aegean waves, test our limits, and discover once again why sailing Greece is one of the greatest adventures in the world. IN THIS EPISODE: – Four days pinned down by 51+ knots in Mpatsi – Using the Meltemi to our advantage for a fast run south – Sailing into Milos under strong winds – Reflections on the challenges and rewards of Aegean sailing – Why the people of Greece make it all worth it FOLLOW OUR JOURNEY: Instagram Sailing & Tech: @sailing_svgoat Instagram Lifestyle: @nobodysride Facebook: Sailing SV GOAT TAGS: #SailingSVGOAT #Meltemi #SailingGreece #AegeanSea #GreekIslands #SailingLife #SailingCouple #BluewaterSailing #StormSailing #CruisingLife #SailboatLiving #SailingAdventure #SailingCommunity
Iron Boats from Sweden has come out with their biggest and most exciting design to date with the 907 Open Heritage Edition. These boats are well priced, trailerable, ship in a container and in my opinion they punch well above their weight when it comes to looks and fun factor behind the wheel. The all new 907 Open features an enclosed head and sleeping cabin which is new for the brand and with the extra length she suits the Mercury V10 400hp doen to a tee. The 'Heritage Edition' means you are getting a bunch of premium upgrades like the flexi teak decking that just give it a much more elegant look. If you're searching for a boat that is a great all rounder in terms of performance, volume, looks and practicality the this Iron 907 Open is hard to beat for the price. This is a boat to get excited about! This week we’re hydroseeding our property for the very first time. The challenge? We’ve never run this type of machine before, and we only had one day to figure it out before returning the rental. Graham Vials and Chris Turner started the day on the cusp of winning an unprecedented sixth Flying Fifteen World Championship, headline sponsored by PRO-SET Epoxy and Ovington Boats, requiring a result in the top five of either of the final races, while Andrew McKee and Richard Jones, the only team who could cause an upset, required nothing less than two race wins. Vials and Turner stuck to McKee and Jones like glue in the pre-start, and then proceeded to loosely cover them on the first upwind leg, only deciding to break away and make a dash for the windward mark when a clear lane presented itself towards the end of the leg. Their tactical acumen and timing, which they’ve demonstrated throughout the event, was once again flawless, rounding the top mark first, and then only looking back to savour the moment, going on to take their sixth race win. An astounding record in such a high quality fleet, where consistency has been nigh on impossible to find for all the other teams. Day 1 of ? 2 days before this episode, we bought a Kelsall 58 at auction having seen it only the day before. After a stressful 24hrs crunching numbers and grinding our teeth, we pulled the trigger and committed to a life on two hulls! With only 3 years of sailing experience in total under our belt, we feel like we're swimming in the deep end now. There's YEARS of work ahead of us to get this Catamaran to where she deserves to be, but it's going to be the best adventure of our youth ❤️🔥 Today, we peel back the layers of this mystery vessel, give you a bit of a boat tour, and start to get the bigger picture of what's in store for us. We have 0 experience with refit's of this scale, but with our excitement for the project and passion for the ocean, we know we'll have what it takes. Cheers! Why is sailboat racing fading away in the United States? In this video, we dive deep into the real reasons behind the decline of recreational sailboat racing—from skyrocketing costs and aging fleets to shrinking regattas and missing new sailors. We compare what racing looked like in the 1980s versus today, and explore how boat prices, club culture, and generational shifts are reshaping the sport. But it’s not all doom and gloom—because there’s still hope. We’ll show you the clubs and communities that are reinventing racing to make it fun, affordable, and accessible again. 📌 Chapters: 00:00 – Intro 00:45 – Participation is down 01:49 – Costs have gotten out of hand 03:09 – Where are all the new boats? 04:19 – The aging sailor problem 05:38 – Too serious, too intimidating 06:20 – Other sports are stealing sailors 06:59 – Fleets are shrinking fast 07:27 – It's just not fun anymore 08:40 – What could save racing 09:31 – Final thoughts Credits: @T2PTVSailingOnDemand @CYCATV @lakewissotayachtclub635 @ronjenkins4257 @thearkadelphian1210 @CalSailingClub @ampiper420 @NatBaddour 📸 Follow along: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/oldboatsailor Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oldboatsailor 💬 Let us know in the comments: Are you still racing? ### Consumi: quale motore consuma meno? * I **motori fuoribordo** tendono a consumare meno, grazie a cilindrate ridotte e tecnologie recenti. Usati ancora solo in modelli datati.

Erin is now level with where we are as she has moved overnight. Some winds, no rain and we are holding well.
It was an earlier start for the fleet on P&B Race Day at the Flying Fifteen Worlds, headline sponsored by PRO-SET Epoxy and Ovington Boats, with the aim of completing three races to bring the event back on schedule. A decent North Easterly, gusting 20 knots, was established - but the same was present on Tuesday which petered out after one race - would it hold today? A promising breeze in the morning on Allen Sailing day at the Flying Fifteen Worlds, headline sponsored by PRO-SET Epoxy and Ovington Boats, flattered to deceive when the wind petered out as the only race of the day was completed. The sailors came into the day recharged and raring to go after Monday's lay day, happy to get out on the water for the hour earlier start time, with aching muscles soothed, if not fully recovered. The forecast was for the wind to decrease throughout the day, and turn more from the east to the north east later in the day, but the wind itself had other ideas, reducing in intensity early and ending up switching the other way to confuse and confound many. Read the full article on the day's racing at https://www.sail-world.com/news/289195/Flying-Fifteen-Worlds-at-Weymouth-UK-Day-3 MB01ZDBAMABZZ2K
Well we have arrived at our hurricane hole in Pongo River, NC and now it's a waiting game for Erin to slide on by. This is our 1st hurricane on the hook but we couldn't be more confident in our ground tackle from Mantus... From the Anchor itself, to the new bridle and the swivel. The gear has held up well and so far the highest gusts we saw was 40 knots of wind while anchored in Oriental, NC. Now we will clear off the top side of the boat and then settle in for the weather but for now, we are enjoying the calm waters!
