What an incredible several days of diving in Fakarava, Tahiti. We dove the south pass and saw hundreds of sharks every dive WITHOUT chumming. The sharks were there naturally because of the current. After the dive we dropped off our tanks at the shop and stayed in the shallows to snorkel with the blacktip reef sharks! Very basic/simple accommodations, but totally epic diving!

This week aboard S/V Deinde, we soak up the final magic of Curaçao. We climb to the top of historic Fort Beekenburg for some epic views, snorkel the crystal-clear waters of Tugboat Beach surrounded by curious fish, and go searching for flamingos in the salt flats (spoiler: we found something much more peculiar 😆 ). 🌵🦩 We end our time here with a cozy sailor bonfire on the beach, saying goodbye to the incredible friends we’ve made along the way as we get ready to set sail for Aruba. Thanks for following our journey. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe to catch the next chapter!
In this episode, after taking a date night to Patong Beach area and catching a Muy Thai boxing event, the Saoirse crew heads on a visa run to Hong Kong. We had been waiting for the yacht to be shipped in February, but were notified of some delays, and because our Thai visas were running out, we had to depart. In Hong Kong, we got to board the new McConaghy 68 sailing catamaran, and do a little exploring prior to heading back to Thailand. Thanks for following! I had patched a leak in my engine cooling system. Sailed under spinnaker. Got through a squall and heavy rain. So far this journey was what sailing is all about. Then out of the blue sky lands a pigeon on Galopin. He spent the night aboard and as we got closer to land he flew once around us, as if to say good bye, and flew towards the Dakar skyline. 00:00 Intro 00:23 Sound of sailing 01:22 Pigeon lands aboard 02:37 Sign from above & below 03:43 A welcome with porpoises 05:46 Digging for change 10:10 Next week Some say it’s The Best Sailing Channel on YouTube!
After a spectacular and sweltering start from Cartagena, the IMOCA fleet wasted no time trading blows as Leg 3 of The Ocean Race Europe 2025 got underway. With temperatures soaring above 30°C, sticky humidity, and relentless manoeuvring, the first 24 hours have tested both boat and crew. Team Malizia is thriving in the close fight, with navigator Loïs Berrehar guiding the crew through thunderstorms and shifty clouds to stay on the right side of each shift. Now, all eyes turn to the next big challenge: a low-pressure system tracking north from Algeria towards the Balearics, a weather twist that could reshape the entire leg and decide who reaches Nice ahead. Ein neues Problem ist aufgetaucht
The Ocean Race Europe Tracker has just had an update thanks to PredictWind, and now looks at routing for the boats, but it doesn't yet have VMG or VMC. Here's a little video as to what these acronyms are, and why I think it's important that they're shown on the tracker. As promised in the video, here is the link to The Ocean Race Europe Tracker: https://www.theoceanrace.com/en/racing/tracker And here is the link to the excellent Wikipedia page about VMG and VMC: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velocity_made_good Holcim-PRB Photo by Anne Beaugé / The Ocean Race
