The complete unboxing video and setup guide, including the best underwater settings for snorkeling!
Krakatinni is a 1998 Catalina 400, listed exclusively with YOTI on Sydney Harbour. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/catalina-400-krakatinni This is a two-cabin, two-head, twin-wheel 40-footer from one of the most respected names in production cruising yachts. Catalina has long been known for building solid, practical boats designed for comfortable sailing and longevity. The standout feature of this 2-cabin layout is the full-beam aft owner’s cabin. It offers a huge semi-island berth, seating to port and starboard, and private access to the larger of the two heads. It really is on another level than what is usually found on 40-foot boats. In the salon, there is no shortage of room. A large U-shaped sofa and table occupy the STB side, easily seating up to eight. The table also lowers to create an additional double berth for guests. The wraparound galley is well laid out, offering ample bench space, refrigeration, deep sinks, and a three-burner stove with oven. Long skylights and numerous hatches bring in plenty of natural light and ventilation, while Catalina’s traditional timber joinery gives the interior a warm, solid feel. Forward is a second private cabin with a V-berth and its own ensuite. The cockpit design was ahead of its time, with twin wheels and a walk-through transom that creates a clear path from the swim platform to the companionway. Deck hardware is robust and sensibly arranged, consistent with Catalina’s reputation for durable cruising setups. Protection from the elements is provided by a forward dodger and aft bimini over the helm positions. Krakatinni is powered by a 42HP shaft-drive Westerbeke engine that has been regularly serviced. She was lifted in October 2025 for antifouling and a full polish. The gas system was recently tested, updated, and certified. A well-proven cruising yacht with a straightforward and comfortable layout, Krakatinni is ready for new adventures and would suit buyers looking to explore local waters or enjoy a capable liveaboard on Sydney Harbour. Contact Luke Holliday for further details and to arrange an inspection.
Estralita IV is a 1985 Traditional 30 listed for sale with YOTI on Pittwater. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/traditional-30-estralita-iv Offered for sale by her very experienced owner, this is a neat and comfortable cruiser. The Volvo engine was installed new in 2006 and has logged around 680 hours. The propeller is a feathering 3 blade. Sails are in good condition, and the headsail is on a furler. The Peter Cole designed Traditional 30’s are known for their excellent sailing capabilities – these really are a pleasure to sail. The wide beam gives excellent space below. The cockpit is safe, deep, and comfortable. There is a full-size galley, electric marine toilet, hot and cold water, and a good-sized fridge. There is a boom awning plus a bimini for shade. An electric anchor winch has been installed. A recent insurance survey has been completed, and Estralita IV was anti-fouled in just February 2026. Contact Peter at YOTI for further details and to arrange inspection. info@yoti.com.au (02) 9960 6222 Disclaimer: All information contained herein has been provided by the Vendor, or sources YOTI consider reliable. ‘First Priority’ is a 2004 Beneteau First 44.7, listed exclusively for sale with YOTI on Sydney Harbour. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/beneteau-first-44-7-first-priority Designed by Bruce Farr, the Beneteau First 44.7 is a highly regarded cruiser/racer, equally at home on the racecourse or cruising the coast in comfort. Known for its balanced performance and practical layout, the First 44.7 remains a popular choice for sailors who want versatility without compromise. First Priority presents as a well-prepared example, with significant work completed over the past two years and recent upgrades to ensure she’s ready for her next owner. • New skin fittings, all new seacocks and hoses • New cabin top hatches, cut & polish, gelcoat repairs, new interior taps • Raymarine electronics upgrade including Axiom2 Pro 9S chart plotter, EV-400 autopilot, 3 x i70s multifunction displays and 2 x Alpha 9 performance displays on mast bracket • Electrical upgrades including new batteries, lighting, toilets, pumps, macerator, shower sumps and water sensors • Partially rebuilt engine (2023) • New Echo Marine mattresses and topper (unused) • New anchor winch, switching and chain (unused) • New Eno two-burner gas stove and oven (unused) This is the desirable three-cabin layout, offering two aft double cabins serviced by a shared head, and a generous forward owner’s cabin with private ensuite. The saloon features a comfortable U-shaped dinette, while the L-shaped galley is well equipped with a top-opening fridge, twin stainless steel sinks and ample storage. On deck, she is set up for easy cruising with a North Sails fully battened Dacron mainsail with boom bag and lazy jacks, and a North Sails genoa on a Profurl furler. A Bimini and dodger with infill provide protection from the elements, while a full suite of Raymarine instruments, including autopilot, supports short-handed sailing. Her dyform standing rigging was replaced in 2019, and a new Profurl C430 furler was installed. First Priority will suit buyers seeking a straightforward, comfortable cruiser that still delivers strong sailing performance—whether around the racecourse or simply getting from point A to B. For further details or to arrange an inspection on Sydney Harbour, please contact Luke Holliday. info@yoti.com.au +61 (02) 9960 6222 Disclaimer: All information contained herein has been provided by the Vendor, or sources YOTI consider reliable. Painting the boat black... We Found Squid Paradise! 🦑✨ Sometimes, you drop anchor in a place so special it earns a new name on the charts. Welcome to "Squid Paradise." Our night started with a simple squid jig and ended with the entire boat, even our bed, covered in ink. In this episode, we experience the frantic fun of catching our own dinner right off the back of the boat, proving that the Solomon Islands always provide if you know where to look. But it’s not all ink and action. Between the hunts, we take a moment to breathe. With the help of the drone and our kayaks, we explore the mirror-still waters of the lagoon, sharing poetry and reflections on what it means to truly inhabit a space. Poppy shares a sunset serenade and a reminder that in a world of constant movement, there is immense power in simply "being." Of course, Mother Nature has the final word. We wrap up the episode with a classic lesson in Solomon Islands sailing: a frustrating, beautiful dance of lifting the sails, losing the wind, and doing it all over again. We’ve officially left paradise behind and set our sights on Ambon… but this leg of the journey isn’t exactly smooth sailing. With food supplies running low and the wind refusing to cooperate, things are starting to get a little tense onboard. We make a quick stop at the stunning Gag Island — crystal clear water, untouched beauty… the kind of place you don’t want to leave. But while the views are incredible, there’s something onboard that definitely isn’t. A mystery smell has been haunting Dan for days… and when we finally track it down, let’s just say the freezer had a surprise waiting for us 🤢 After dealing with that disaster, we push on — thinking the worst is behind us. We’re wrong. What follows is an unexpected night sail, navigating in the dark and dropping anchor between reefs with very little margin for error. One small mistake out here can turn serious, fast. This is one of those legs that reminds us — life at sea isn’t always picture perfect. 🎥 In this episode: • Leaving Wayag and the reality of long passages • Running low on food (again…) • Exploring beautiful Gag Island • The mystery freezer disaster revealed • A tense and unexpected night sail • Anchoring between reefs in the dark If you enjoy raw, real sailing adventures — this one’s for you. 👍 Don’t forget to like & subscribe to follow the journey!
Turneffe makes for an ideal location to host our Belize Freediving Workshop and Snorkeling tour. Aside from the beautiful reefs and clear waters, there are a number of protected areas to explore with varying depth levels. Throughout the course of this freediving workshop, there will be lectures, training sessions in the resort's pool, and in-water practical sessions with our Freediving Instructor Emma, all of which will give you time and opportunity to improve your skills. We'll be based at Turneffe Island Resort for the duration of the tour. We'll be accompanied by a freediving expert (Emma Farrell) and an assistant, who both bring along a wealth of experience. All this is, of course, combined with plenty of time for snorkeling over the reefs at your leisure.
Bunaken National Park and Bangka Island, on the north coast of Sulawesi in Indonesia, provide an ideal setting for this exciting freediving workshop and snorkel safari. Aside from the beautiful reefs, clear waters, and abundant marine life, there are a number of protected areas to explore at varying depths. Both boutique island resorts we’ll be staying at are also well-equipped to host us as we advance our freediving. Join freediving expert Emma Farrell and her assistant for an immersive workshop designed to enhance your snorkeling skills through a combination of talks, masterclasses, and in-water practical sessions. With a focus on wellness, you can take part in morning Breathing Optimization sessions and evening Yoga Nidra, both of which will enrich your underwater experiences. You’ll progress at your own pace and within your comfort zone, with safety, relaxation, and enjoyment always at the forefront. The workshop begins at the award-winning Siladen Resort, located just north of Sulawesi. This venue offers everything needed for training, including a pool for static breath-hold practice and a sea-view yoga shala that doubles as a classroom and relaxation space. From Siladen, you’ll have easy access to the stunning reefs and training sites within Bunaken National Park. Our second stop will be Coral Eye, the newly renovated sister resort of Siladen Resort, located on Bangka Island. With your newly honed freediving abilities, you’ll be able to dive down and swim among the fish, exploring the stunning reefs from a whole new perspective. Like Siladen, Coral Eye also offers a pool for additional training sessions and relaxation, along with ample space for yoga and Breathing Optimization sessions.
From Windsurfer to Solo Sailor | 50 Miles in 30 Knots Across the Bahamas - Cat Island to Georgetown.
Sailing from Cat Island back to Georgetown, Exumas — but when two nearly identical sailboats share the same course… it turns into a race. With 25–30 knots of wind and a fast reach across 50 miles of open water, this passage delivered both speed and adrenaline. But this video is more than just a sail. I share my journey to becoming a solo sailor — from 20 years of windsurfing… to Annapolis Sailing School, the Keelboat Club, and my first sailboat, a Beneteau 41.1. Along the way, I reflect on some of my biggest sailing adventures, how I chose the Amel 50, and even the path that brought me here — from leaving Russia in 1997 to building my own company. All set against the stunning backdrop of Cat Island and Exuma Sound. This one is personal. And fast. Just 80 days left of our 100 day to launch challenge. Made great progress on our forward heads compartment (plus a side distraction relating to the steering wheel). We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). Welcome back to another episode of WE|Sail. EPISODE 335 Here's something most people don't realize about sailing: we spend about 80 to 90 percent of our time at anchor, not actually sailing. And honestly? Those are some of the best days. This is what a week at anchor in Fiji looks like for us: wing foiling, diving with black tip reef sharks, scuba diving incredible reefs, boat maintenance, and floating in the water with sundowners watching the sunset. This episode is all about finding that balance between staying active, exploring underwater, getting work done on the boat, and taking time to just be. This is the rhythm of cruising life. This is why we're out here. We spend time wing foiling in the anchorage, something I'm finally feeling confident doing again after my achilles recovery. We encounter black tip reef sharks cruising around the boat—elegant, sleek, beautiful animals that we never get tired of watching. They're curious, just like us. Not aggressive, but still wild. Still sharks. You respect them, watch them, appreciate them. The underwater footage from our scuba dive is some of the best we've captured in Fiji. Clear visibility, vibrant coral, abundant marine life. We get playful down there, explore, and just enjoy the freedom of being able to drop everything mid-day and spend an hour weightless on the reef. There's also boat work, because there's always boat work. I tackle a small project using Warren's tools, he does some engine maintenance, and we wrap up the day floating off the back of the boat with drinks in hand. This is the real cruising life that most people don't see. Not the passages or the big sailing days, but the weeks at anchor where we find our rhythm and remember exactly why we're doing this. This is one long work day in Port Protection, Alaska. We’re back under the house continuing the foundation repair after two trees came down on it and shifted everything. This is video 4… maybe 5 at this point… we’ve honestly lost track. Today turns into one of those full days where you’re just in it. A lot of snow shoveling. A lot of moving heavy posts. A lot of standing there looking at something, talking it through, and then trying it anyway. We deal with the post under the house that is not actually holding anything up....so that's interesting. We take it out and work toward putting something in that actually does. From there it’s just steady problem solving. Lifting, trimming, adjusting, rethinking, trying again. Nothing is perfectly straight, nothing fits exactly right, and every step leads to another decision. Scott’s figuring it out in real time. Audrey’s filming, questioning, and occasionally helping (or making it more complicated, depending who you ask). Some of it feels solid. Some of it feels a little questionable. Most of it is just working through it. Somewhere in the middle of all this it starts to feel like an episode of The Office… just with heavier materials and colder weather. This isn’t a how-to. It’s just what it looks like to be in it. ⏱️ CHAPTERS: 00:00 Snow Dump + Start of the Day 01:00 How Much Weight Was on the Roof 02:00 Looking at the House Shift 03:30 Trying to Understand the Sag 05:00 No Blueprint, Just a Plan 06:30 Talking Through Options 08:00 Concrete + Rebar Decisions 09:30 Shoveling Heavy Snow 11:30 Snow Sliding Back Down 13:00 “This Is a Workout” 14:30 Clearing Access to the House 16:00 Quick Break + Regroup 18:00 Back Under the House 20:00 Looking at the Post Setup 22:00 Planning the Base + Footer 24:00 “Plumb” vs Level 26:00 Marking + Drilling 28:30 Setting Rebar + Adhesive 32:00 Prepping the Post 34:30 First Lift Attempt 37:00 Trying to Set It 40:00 Doesn’t Fit 43:00 Getting the Post Back Out 46:00 What Needs to Change 49:00 Cutting + Adjusting 52:00 Resetting for Round Two 55:00 Post Drops Into Place 58:00 Checking Plumb 1:00:00 Explaining the Gap 1:02:00 First Post Set 1:04:00 Noticing a Crack 1:06:00 Talking Materials + Choices 1:08:00 Planning Next Steps 1:10:00 Tools + Cleanup 1:12:00 Setting Temporary Support 1:15:00 Jacking the House Slightly 1:18:00 Positioning Support Post 1:21:00 Driving It In 1:24:00 Adjusting Placement 1:27:00 Locking It In 1:30:00 Adding Stability 1:33:00 Final Adjustments 1:36:00 Getting Everything Solid 1:39:00 Stepping Back + Checking Work 1:42:00 End of Day Thoughts 1:45:00 End

#barcheavela #beneteau #nautica
This is part 6 of a step-by-step build of a B&B Yacht Designs Spindrift 10 nesting dinghy, following the guidance from the build instructions. This video focuses on installing the locker hatches, a unique way of attaching gunwale protectors as well as an ingenious approach to making the sections watertight! I purchased the pre-cut "kit" to save some time, but the same results can be accomplished by purchasing the build instructions and cutting your own marine-grade plywood. This video is for those who are looking to build their own dinghy, and who wish to learn more about the process. This is the second project Brent and I worked on together, the previous being a 7' pram for Brent. I hope you enjoy, and I hope you take away some successes we had, as well as learning from some of the failures we encountered.
We recently got a chance to tour the new Schaefer Yachts V33 SportFish during the Palm Beach International Boat Show. With an overall length off 33 feet, 11 inches, and an 11 foot beam, the first thing that caught our eye was the versatility of the space. The cockpit features two fold-away benches creating a spacious deck to fight fish in and move around safely. On the transom, there is a tow bar for family time, cup and rod holders and two live bait wells. The cockpit floor itself has two fish boxes, one of which is insulated and the other larger one usable for storage, whether it's just fenders and mooring lines, or the removable table that mounts into the cockpit floor. The aft-facing console cover, supported by two air shocks, lifts up easily to reveal an electric grill, ice box and a small sink. With fishability being the focus on the SF version, the cockpit also features 4 electric reel outlets and both a raw and fresh water washdown hose tucked away in a compartment in the starboard gunwale. Two telescopic poles also tuck away neatly, which can be used for putting up a full beam canvas cover for shade above the cockpit as well. The helm itself features bench seats that can articulate to comfortably run the boat standing, a joystick and bow thruster control, two simrad screens for navigation and a two level foot rest. Like all V33 models with Schaefer, the SF has a spacious air-conditioned cabin for a boat of its size, a dinette that converts to a V-berth option for 2 people, and a wet head to the starboard size. On the bow, the two-person sunpad also allows access to the forward cabin, with an additional raw and fresh water washdown hose neatly tucked away in the bow along with Schaefers' popular catapult-style anchoring system. Across a competitive weekend of racing, crews were tested by varied conditions, but Calypso’s pace and precision proved decisive as the regatta unfolded. A great display of racing across both IRC and Club classes 👏
