We have had various stages of temporary wiring for all the 240V AC loads on the boat for 6 years. Now I'm doing it more properly. But today (in a typical ADHD way) I kind of got sucked into being more disruptive than planned. It started with emptying the composting toilet, that meant clearing the forecabin and I was able to find some parts I wanted. Then I decided it was a good time to wire in a socket in the forecabin to heat the compost instead of using an extension lead. I did that and realised the route was the same as for the galley and Nook. So I thought I would just do the galley but accidentally cut off the extension lead to the nook, so I had to do both (and the route goes through the cockpit locker which is why that had to be emptied as well), We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. After three months of sailing from Stockholm, through the Baltic Sea and down the English Channel we have now reached southern France. 🇫🇷 In this episode, we fix our broken engine that left us being towed into the marina in the middle of the night in our last video. But before getting back out on the ocean, we take a little break from boat life and head off on a long road trip to Girona, Spain, to celebrate a big family milestone with Erik’s family. 🚘 Back onboard, we finally leave Lézardrieux and start heading south, making plans to cross the Bay of Biscay. It’s late in the season and autumn has reached France, bringing colder winds and fewer good weather windows. Liapari was probably the hub for visiting yachts in the Solomons for about 20 years. Alas the place felt apart in 2021 when the owner/manager passed away and ownership disputes went to court! Looking at the location, one would easily imagine why this place attracted a successful marina and boatyard. Who knows what the future will bring! Since then, the new Solomons sailing hub is being built in Noro. Filmed in May 2025.

Once the storm had passed I made my way to St. Thomas Island where I was finally able to dive on the bottom to see the damage cause by the reef. I then continued on the the Western Islands and finally arrived at Raffles Marina where I would be clearing out of Singapore.
