Hello from Shimane Prefecture, near Izumo Taisha — one of Japan’s oldest and most sacred shrines. This is said to be the beach where the gods land. Twenty-five years ago, I cycled the length of Japan in what my publisher called “a spiritual journey through Japan.” Along the way, I prayed Celtic prayers at temples and shrines, believing that the fabric of life is woven from many threads — and one of them is spiritual. Now, standing in the rain by the Sea of Japan, I return to this sacred coast — still exploring what longevity really means in Japan. Join me as the journey continues. #NeverTooLateAcademy #BeyondTheBlueZone #IzumoTaisha #Shimane #JapanTravel #Longevity #BlueZone #NeverTooLate #SpiritualJourney #JapaneseCulture #BeyondTheBlueZone #CyclingJapan #TravelJapan #AgingWell #MindfulTravel #SacredJapan #JapanVlog #writerslife

This could possibly be the most impressive thing we have ever seen! www.sailingnandji.com It has been 9 years since we begun sailing around the world and whilst we love boat life and sailing, we love travelling and enjoy an adventure of any kind. Arriving to the shores of South Africa, we thought what better way to experience this continent than in the most iconic way possible, a Land Rover defender. Sure you haters out there only think of the air conditioning and reliability of a Toyota, but we are all about the adventure. Memories are not made from the comfort of a Hilux. Therefore we introduce you too Landji. Our Land Rover Defender, currently full of problems… Whilst we made it across the border in time, we now have a challenging 800 miles of Namibian desert to cross to reach the mechanic we have been advised that can help. However what lies between us and the mechanic and us is the harsh barren Namibian desert, sand dunes, rocks and dirt roads but also, a trip of life time and a journey we won’t forget anytime soon. In this episode, I started restoring the old wood that I removed from the boat a few months ago. Back then, the lower part was flooded for years, and the upper furniture was home to mice. For months I thought that when the time came, I’d just rebuild everything from scratch. But now, seeing how beautifully the original wood can be restored — how stunning it looks on classic yachts — I’ve changed my mind. I want to bring back every single piece I once took off the boat. I’m ready to spend the time and energy it takes. As for these particular bulkheads — first, I washed them thoroughly and removed the leftover glue from the insulation. Then I started sanding: first with 120 grit, then with 180. After that, I cleaned them twice with a teak cleaner, treated them with a brightener that perfectly evened out the color, and once the wood dried, I finished it with teak oil. I’m in love with the result. Let me know what you think✨ ♥︎ If you feel like supporting my project, you can do it through PayPal https://paypal.me/mishushat?country.x=GE&locale.x=en_US Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I will mention you in my next video ♥︎ Patreon https://www.patreon.com/mishushat_masha Your Name on my Sailboat😊 And also exclusive behind-the-scenes clips My Instagram https://www.instagram.com/mishushatt/ Hugs, Mishushat

Shot and Edited by Sprott Media https://www.instagram.com/sprottmedia/ Words by Frank Quealey Race Commentary by Sail Media Race Sponsor Yandoo Following the drama created by the strong winds on each of the first two race days this season, Race 3 of the SIXT Spring Championship was an opportunity for teams to get their boats on the water in more favourable conditions, but a lack of good breeze which forced a 45mins delay at the start, looked like it may have spoiled the party for both competitors and spectators until a fair breeze prevailed and a great 3-buoys race developed. At the end of the revised 3-lap windward-leeward course, Sixt (Jacob Marks, Alex Marinelli, Rasmus Rosengren) crossed the finish line just 3secs ahead of Vaikobi (Kirk Mitchell, Andrew Stephenson, Daniel Barnett) with Smeg (Ash Rooklyn, Ricky Bridge, Max Paul) a further 24secs back in third place. Rag & Famish Hotel, with Joel Beashel replacing regular skipper Ben Crafoord, fished in fourth place ahead of Club Marine (Emma Rankin), Sothebys Ballard Properties (Bec Hancock), Balmain (Henry Larkings), Lazarus Capital Partners (Tom Cunich), Fisher & Paykel (Brett Van Munster), The Kitchen Maker (Lachlan Steel), Yandoo (Tash Bryant), Gotcha4Life (Kade Morgan), Killer Coffee (Sam Abel) and The Oak Double Bay-4 Pines (Hugh Stoner). The race produced some very good battles throughout the fleet and highlighted the talent of some of the young skippers and teams presently racing in the League's fleet Visit www.18footers.com for the very best in 18 foot skiff racing from Sydney Harbour and beyond

Please Subscribe if you like our Global Sailing content, Like and Share. It helps us show our content to more sailors. Thank you. This is your weekly Global Sailing Highlights show, the World on Water, for October 24th, 2025. First off, our appologies for running late this week, but the circumstances were well beyond our control. And as a prior notice, next week could also be effected. In the meantime the the TRANSAT CAFÉ L’OR Normandie Le Havre started and were then reated to muscular wind conditions and leaden skies as they made a fast start to what should be an express exit from the English Channel. On the first night Three Ocean 50s capsized, the Ultims powered ahead while vthe 18 Imocas battened down as the class 40s had a mandatory stop into La Coruña on the North West corner of Spain. Punishing conditions. The 46th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race is underway. An impressive international fleet of 117 yachts are contesting the 46th edition of this compelling and historic offshore race. Following the captivating start from Valletta’s imperious Grand Harbour, a 606-nautical mile challenge lay ahead featuring an anti-clockwise circumnavigation of Sicily before finishing back in Malta. After the scarest moment in life, Eric Marsh aboard his yacht, Sunbear, finally arrives in Mauritius, and for the first time, he opens up about his terrifying man- overboard experience. It’s the kind of moment every sailor dreads, and Eric’s raw story captures the real danger, courage, and determination behind the Mini Globe Race 2025. We thank Christine Turner who was on the dock in Mauritius for capturing this special moment! Monohull line honours has been decided at the 2025 Rolex Middle Sea Race. Crossing the finish line in Marsamxett Harbour, Malta, at 05:44:07 CEST, Black Jack 100 took the title in an elapsed time of 2 days, 17 hours, 44 minutes and 7 seconds. Success for the 100-foot Maxi yacht, skippered by Tristan Le Brun and owned by Remon Vos, was highly coveted. Last year, Black Jack 100 had to settle for second on the water after a thrilling duel with Scallywag 100. The two yachts met again in July at the Rolex Fastnet Race, where this time Black Jack 100 claimed line honours, turning the tables on her rival. This week, eighteen double-handed crews will depart from Le Havre to embark on the Transat Café l’OR, a storied transatlantic race that has traced this oceanic course since 1993. Covering 4,350 nautical miles, from the English Channel down into tropical trade winds, their destination is Fort-de-France, Martinique. In this 17ᵉ edition, the IMOCA fleet joins Ultim, Ocean Fifty and Class40, four classes, four courses, four winning duos. Almost a year to the day since Emirates Team New Zealand won the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup the team are back out sailing with their AC40 from their home base in Auckland. At the same time, announcing a new mix of exciting young Kiwi sailing talent and multiple Olympic medal winning experience joining the sailing team in their defence of the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup in Naples in 2027. With one last Foil elimination round on Sunday, the IFCA Funboard European Championships Slalom Foil & Fin came to a close after five days of spectacular racing. Once again, the “funboard” boards – both Foil and Fin – returned to take centre stage on Lake Garda, hosted by Circolo Surf Torbole under delegation from the Italian Sailing Federation. Racing took place every afternoon in perfect Ora winds from the south, which consistently stayed above the minimum range required for Foil (below 15 knots) and Fin (above 11 knots) racing.

In this October Market Insights episode, Sue is joined by Andrew Fairbrass from Berthon Spain to discuss the global yacht market as the team returns from the Annapolis Boat Show. Across all Berthon offices, activity remains steady, but the way buyers are engaging, researching, and making decisions continues to evolve. The conversation explores changing buyer behaviour, the challenges facing yacht manufacturers, and what’s driving momentum across new yacht sales, brokerage, and refit sectors as 2025 heads toward its final quarter. This month’s insights: 1. The day of the boat show is waning. With more localised events, digital walkthroughs, and access to detailed online specifications, most buyers are viewing, assessing, and deciding outside traditional exhibition settings. The autumn shows have seen busy docks and halls, but fewer committed buyers as organisers prioritise visitor numbers over qualified clients. 2. Multihulls are hot. Interest continues to rise, led by production models linked to charter opportunities. Alongside these, there is strong demand for semi-custom, well-engineered, high-quality designs offering performance, comfort, and long-range capability. These are yachts that combine speed, seakeeping, and liveability, true bluewater cruisers appealing to experienced sailors and newcomers alike. 3. New yacht sales remain challenging. Long-standing American builder Catalina announced the suspension of production – a significant indicator of wider pressures in the sector. Rising costs, cautious buyers, and stock overhangs have slowed the pace of new orders. More announcements of this kind are expected into 2026. 4. Production yacht and motor yacht builders are struggling to reduce stock levels. As 2025 draws to a close, unsold stock remains high, a concern as unsold boats cross into a new model year. Many manufacturers are expected to delay or scale back production rather than discount heavily, in order to preserve pricing integrity. 5. Refit and service demand remains strong at the top end. Berthon’s service and refit operation in Palma has a full order book stretching into 2026, largely from yachts 100 feet and above. However, activity in the 60–100 foot range has slowed, impacted by high berthing costs and market hesitation. Palma’s berth prices have begun to soften again after sharp increases last year, and brokers are now negotiating attractive winter deals to keep yachts local. 6. Buyer confidence remains fragile. Levels of buyer remorse are high, with some clients stepping back at the final moment. Global uncertainty and economic caution are feeding a wait-and-see approach, particularly among first-time buyers and those upgrading into larger yachts. Brokers across all offices report that their role now involves more reassurance, education, and managing expectations throughout the process. 7. Market sentiment expects prices to fall, but stability continues. Some buyers remain convinced that brokerage prices will drop sharply over the winter, but this appears unlikely. The price delta between new and brokerage yachts remains wide, and builders are far more likely to slow or pause production than to sell below cost. For now brokerage values are holding steady, with well-presented, sensibly priced yachts still finding serious buyers. Across the group, the message is consistent: while confidence wavers and decision-making takes longer, the market remains active, disciplined, and value-driven. Multihulls are a clear growth story, refit work continues strongly at the large-yacht end, and owners who price realistically are seeing results. The final months of 2025 look set to close on a stable footing, as the yacht industry continues to balance global caution with a steady appetite for quality and adventure afloat. After crossing the Bay of Biscay, we sail along the wild Galician coast of Spain - from A Coruña to Muxía, facing headwinds, heavy weather, and the raw Atlantic beauty of Galicia. We finally arrive in Galicia after days at sea, on the wild Atlantic coast of Spain. We spend a few days exploring the beautiful city of A Coruña before continuing our voyage west along the rugged Galician shoreline. Strong headwinds and powerful Atlantic swells challenge us around the northwestern tip of the European continent, where orca encounters have recently been reported in the area. We find shelter in the fishing village of Laxe to wait out a storm, then sail on to Muxía just before the next weather system arrives. A Small Craft Warning was in effect for Lake Superior’s Apostle Islands, giving Freelance, our Pearson 367, outstanding sailing conditions. Together with our friends Tim and Terri we thoroughly enjoyed a fast return under full sails from Raspberry Island to the Port Superior Marina. It was an awesome ride. We had originally planned to stay out in the Islands for one more night, aiming to anchor in Julian Bay, Stockton Island. However, Freelance’s alternator failed on our way from Raspberry Bay to Raspberry Island. That obviously forced us to change our plans. So, after breakfast, we set a course for a return to Port Superior. The wind was blowing a steady 15 to 20 knots, often gusting to 25 knots, but the seas were minimal. After passing the Red Cliff Point buoy, we had great fun trying to bury the rail in the waters of the West Channel. Unfortunately, we had a little too much fun. In one of the heavier gusts, Vicki suddenly slid off the seat on the high side, and got tangled up in the bottom of the cockpit well. She got a bad bruise on her left arm, and fractured her tailbone. It was a bad spill. During our sail back, we had the entire time left the diesel running at idle and in neutral. When we got close to the marina, the alternator kicked back in again. That indicated that the failure was likely caused by a loose connection, probably from Freelance’s motion in the chop. It proved to be so, when John, one of Port Superior’s expert technicians, later checked it out. It was an easy fix — but the intermittent connection sadly cost us another night anchored out in the Apostle Islands. Satellite images courtesy of Google Earth,

The Alaskan Gypsy already had bolt-on zincs — but not the right kind. The old setup used weld-on zinc bars that were drilled and forced into service as bolt-ons. The spacing was never quite right perfect, making every zinc change awkward and not something you'd want to do holding your breath underwater! In this episode, I cut off the old studs and weld in new stainless studs set to the industry-standard diver-friendly spacing. While I’m at it, working on the hull with my dad, I welded over some micro rust corrosion pits with the BestArc mig welder and, clean up the flash rust from jack stand spots with the Bristle Blaster, maintaining the sandblast profile before paint. I'm getting to know this little welder and figuring out the bristle blaster's strengths and weaknesses as I use them both more. In this video: • Cutting off the old mis-spaced zinc studs • Welding new stainless studs with modern spacing • Cleaning flash rust with the Bristle Blaster • Addressing an area the sand blaster couldn't solve • Grinding, checking alignment, and prepping for primer We have our zinc based primer on and we are busy dialing in the details before epoxy barrier coating. It’s our last sunny stop before sailing overnight to the south coast of Fuerteventura. 🏝️ Let’s just say… the beach had a little extra local flavor 👀🌞 (hello, elderly nudist sunbathers). Consider it a live marine biology + anthropology class. After a rolly anchorage, we continue down to Morro Jable, a simple and protected harbor just a 15-minute walk from the famous giant sand dune beach. 🏖️🥾 While exploring, we stumble upon the Sea Turtle Recovery and Conservation Center 🐢—a place dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating injured turtles before releasing them back into the wild. Admission is free, but entry is now controlled by QR code, and visits are short due to the small size. Opening hours vary (typically Thursdays, 10:00–13:00), so it’s best to check current hours before you go. 🌍 Fuerteventura is a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, known for its ultramarine waters, sweeping sand dunes, and wild volcanic beauty.

After three months of sailing from our hometown, Stockholm, down the Atlantic coast of Europe, it’s finally time for our longest, and most feared, passage yet - crossing the Bay of Biscay. ⛵️ The Bay of Biscay has a reputation for being unpredictable, with strong Atlantic swells and sudden weather changes. It’s a crossing that truly demands respect. 🌊 We welcome aboard our crew for this passage, Erik’s parents aka https://www.youtube.com/@bushpoint and set sail from Camaret-sur-Mer, France, heading more than 52 hours across the sea to reach Gijón, Spain, with our brave little sausage dog Nora onboard. 🐾 It’s our longest passage so far, and between fever, cold nights, and little sleep, this crossing definitely tests both us and our boat. But with calm weather, dolphins joining our sail, and a long-awaited boat renaming at the end, it turns into a journey we’ll never forget. 💛 📍 Route: Camaret-sur-Mer (France) to Gijón (Spain) ⛵ Distance sailed: 1967 Nautical Miles 🧑‍✈️ Crew: Erik, Linn & Nora the dachshund If you're new to our channel, welcome! 🩵 We’re Linn and Erik, a Swedish couple in our late 20s who quit our jobs, rented out our apartment, and set off to sail from Stockholm to the Mediterranean together with our sausage dog. We started the journey in our unique 33 foot sailboat from 1980, which we sold in Kiel, and luckily one week after we bought a new boat, a Bavaria 37, from 2000 more suited for our adventures ahead. 🔔 If you love real-life sailing stories and adventures where we learn as we go, don’t forget to subscribe and join us on the journey! 🎬 Check out our playlists: https://www.youtube.com/@SailAndDoxie/playlists 📱 Follow us on Instagram for more updates: / sailanddoxie   #sailing #sailinglife #sailboat #adventure #boatlife #lifestyle #sailors

This week’s episode is a mix of random projects we’ve been tackling around the boat all summer — the kind that never quite fit into any other video but still show the day-to-day progress of the build. We’re checking in on the helm station, which has now been primed and attached to the cabin top, and Matt’s been working on new inserts for our throttle and controllers. I’ll also take you through some work around our flush deck hatches, which have been sealed up for the past year but are finally getting sanded, faired, and primed. And to wrap it up, we’ve got a throwback clip from when Matt first primed the bows earlier this year — the first step in getting a clean, uniform surface after months of fairing. This one’s a little all over the place, but that’s just how the summer has gone — catching up on bits and pieces before we finally move indoors next month to start installation work. The sanding season is officially coming to an end, and we couldn’t be happier about it!

Hi guys. We’re chained down in Rochella… literally. What started as a simple delivery from China turned into a three–week saga across borders, train lines, and broken promises. Our new anchor chain has travelled through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, and half of Europe — but somehow not the last 100 kilometres to our marina. Each day costs us €58, the weather window to leave is closing, and FedEx keeps changing the story — “Arrived in Belarus,” “Customs cleared,” “Delivery updated,” … but no chain in sight. In this episode, we take you through the real behind-the-scenes frustration of full-time cruising life — when you’re ready to set sail, but stuck waiting on global logistics and a tracking number that never changes. Will the chain arrive before we have to go? Or will we be forced to leave without it? Watch to the end — because even we didn’t see the ending coming. ⛵ Follow our sailing life: 👉 Subscribe for weekly episodes of life aboard and lessons learned the hard way. 👉 Comment below — what’s the longest you’ve ever waited for a delivery while cruising? The Transat Café L’or is one of the biggest events in world offshore sailing, especially in France, and this year there are 74 yachts with 148 skippers taking part in four classes: The Class 40 monohulls, the OCEAN50 trimarans, the IMOCA monohull yachts, which we know well from the Vendee Globe, and the mighty Ultim trimarans, which are capable of covering over 900 nautical miles in a day. The race starts from Le Havre in the Normandy region, before rounding a mark off Étretat, then heading out of the English Channel and into the Atlantic where the classes have a selection of courses, depending on their speed. The finish is in Fort-de-France, Martinique as the race traditionally follows the historic coffee trading route between France and Brazil. The race will take between 10 and 16 days, depending as always on weather conditions, with the Ultim course 6,200 nautical miles, the Ocean50 4,600 nautical miles, the IMOCA course 4,350 nautical miles, and the Class40 course at 3,750 nautical miles. The biggest talking point pre-race has been the weather and an approaching system in the Atlantic which is set to hit the fleet. The Ocean Fifty class and all its skippers requested to advance their start to Saturday which the race organisers agreed to, and the fleet of 50 foot trimarans started at 16:30 hours on Saturday 25th October. They are sailing down to the Canary Islands, leaving the entire archipelago to starboard. They will then head to Cape Verde, the original course marker, which they will leave to starboard. A waypoint could also be set to correspond to the planned race time of around twelve days. The Ultim, IMOCA and Class 40 fleets started as scheduled on Sunday. You can track the fleet at https://www.transatcafelor.org/en/cartography Thumbnail photo (c) Jean-Marie Liot / Alea #imoca #ultim #class40 #ocean50 #sailing

I'm Daniel, aka "Adventureman Dan." I've been living on the edge, from one adventure to another for the past nine years. Starting in Central California with my first GoPro, through to SoCal, Baja, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Alaska, and throughout the whole USA. But for the past six and a half years now, I've been on my 38' sailboat "Adventureborne." Which has opened my life up to unlimited possibilities of where I can go and what I can do!
