Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Canon R50 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Back up is a Canon 200d. Action scenes and small blogging is done with an Insta 360 Ace2. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. I also use an Insta 360 and have two drones, a Magic mini2 and Mavic pro Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over several days. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have limited communications with the outside World. 🌴 Bula Bula Fidji ! 🇫🇯 On est à Nawi Marina, sur l’île de Vanua Levu… et sans hésiter, c’est la meilleure marina de tout notre voyage 🤩 Moi qui n’aime pas trop les marinas, ici c’est simple : on se sent en vacances ! Première découverte de Savusavu : le marché local, les sourires, et l’accueil incroyablement chaleureux des Fidjiens ❤️ Et grosse surprise : la culture indienne est très présente ici. Ayant beaucoup voyagé en Inde et adorant la cuisine indienne… je suis clairement au paradis 😍 Nous allons célébrer Diwali, la fête des lumières ✨ Un moment magique ! Et puis enfin, Tom va chez le dentiste pour son problème dentaire qu’il traîne depuis les Tonga 😬 Il a une sacrée tête en ressortant du cabinet ! 😂 Nous quittons ensuite Nawi Marina pour une navigation d’une journée, en partie à la barre et l’autre sous windpilot. Je porte mes super lunettes contre le mal de mer et je prends enfin la barre ! Pas le choix, car on n’a plus d’autopilote ! Si parte da Venezia con destinazione Croazia, verso il Quarnaro. Usciti dalla laguna, a 16 miglia in alto mare improvvisamente l’asse del timone si spezza e restiamo completamente privi di governo. Allestiamo un timone di fortuna con l’asse di legno della passerella, che però non sarà sufficiente per governare adeguatamente e ci rassegniamo a chiamare i soccorsi. La guardia costiera ci scorterà fino a Chioggia, grazie al rimorchio di un peschereccio nei pressi dell’incidente. A Chioggia troveremo gente di mare disponibile e gentile che si farà in quattro per aiutarci a rimediare e riuscire a ripartire.

De la Savoie sous la neige ❄️ à la Méditerranée turquoise, notre voyage en voilier commence fort… avec un train qu’on a bien failli rater 😅 Après un vol depuis Genève vers Catane, puis 2 heures de bus, nous retrouvons enfin notre voilier MAX 2 à Licata, en Sicile, où il a passé l’hiver. Préparation du bateau, ravitaillement et attente d’une fenêtre météo : la grande vie de marin ⛵. Notre position au sud de la Sicile nous donne une idée : ➡️ faire un détour par Malte 🇲🇹 Premier mouillage à Dwejra Bay, un site spectaculaire. La houle persistante nous pousse ensuite à nous abriter au port de Mgarr (oui, on aime notre confort). On en profite pour ressortir nos vélos 🚲 et explorer Gozo : Rabat, Xagħra, Ramla Bay… Cap ensuite sur Comino et son célèbre Blue Lagoon, avant un mouillage sur Malte à Hi Hofra Zghra, toujours bercés par la houle 🌊 Puis direction La Valette, coup de foudre total pour cette capitale aux influences anglaises : bow windows, co-cathédrale Saint-Jean, Upper Barrakka Gardens, fontaine des Tritons, auberge de Castille… ❤️ Après 10 jours hors du temps, nous quittons Malte pour une traversée de 120 milles nautiques vers la Sicile, direction Sciacca.
