Just 14 hours after crossing the line on the Round Ireland Race, Dazcat 1495 'Hissy Fit' is off cruising with family and friends. Hissy Fit completed the somewhat gruelling 700++ mile offshore in 5th position over the line out of 48 starters, and 2nd in the MOCRA under 50ft class...This video is about Hissy Fit's superb cruising after the race. But just stop and consider for a moment: Hissy Fit, Simon and his friend Dan all needed to be spotlessly presentable, as fresh as possible and in full working order for the arrival of Tracey and Claire to start the cruise. They also had to celebrate with the rest of the crew before they departed. Hissy Fit's durability (no breakages during the race), ease of cleaning and low maintenance are the only things that make this possible. It's just one aspect of the Dazcat magic that you only understand if you understand - we prefer to spend more time sailing and less time fixing and cleaning our boats. Simon, director at the Multihull Centre and build oversight of Dazcats, sails his boat to test, prove and develop the design and build. He also happens to love winning races. But he and his wife Tracey also love exploring the beautiful coastlines and harbours within easy sailing reach of home and with all the home comforts on board. It's been a particularly wet and unpredictable summer but still they managed to find some gorgeous sunshine and stunning sights on the Irish southern coast and the beautiful Isles of Scilly, visiting 12 different harbours and anchorages. Wildlife, scenery and a few tips to remember both on the water and ashore. So... This time we untie the lines and hit the water. We hoist the gennaker and run into trouble with the drone. I spent the last two seasons sailing my sailboat, Sedna, from Italy to Sweden. We are fundraising $15,000 USD ($22,000 AUD) to keep Chuffed sailing! Our rig is in poor condition and no longer safe to continue sailing to deliver free veterinary care. We need to replace all of our standing rigging and furling system to keep our clinic going. We also have an accumulation of maintenance items that are overdue, including replacing our shaft seal, engine parts, cutlass bearing, propeller and repairs on the rudder and keel.  Thankfully the hardware for the rigging has been donated by one of our biggest supporters (who prefers to remain anonymous), but there is still significant costs involved in replacing the rigging and doing the other repairs.  Estimated Costs: - Marina fees: $1500 USD - Import fees: $1600 USD - Shipping: $1800 USD - Professional rigger: $8000 USD (includes labor, installation of hardware, repairs on boom, repairs on mast, teaching us how to maintain and install rig) - Boat parts and repairs: $2100 USD = $15,000 USD in total (approx. $22,000 AUD) Our monthly patron supporters have been instrumental in providing funding for our veterinary projects and day-to-day costs of running a sailing veterinary clinic. In this episode, we sail to the picturesque and protected natural harbour of Klokkergården, nestled on the island of Rødøya just above the Arctic Circle. From here, we embark on an unforgettable climb up Rødøyløva, the 440-meter-high “Lion of Rødøya.” The climb, up hundreds of Sherpa steps, is exhausting but absolutely worth it as we reach the summit. The panoramic views over northern Norway’s islands, pristine beaches, and clear waters are breathtaking, and in the distance, we catch a glimpse of the majestic Lofoten Islands! After descending back to Polaris, we treat ourselves to a mouthwatering dinner at the charming Klokkergården restaurant. Sadly, after just one night in this idyllic place, we must set sail for Bodø, racing against approaching bad weather. Our journey doesn’t stop there—upon reaching Bodø, we experience the fascinating Saltstraumen, the world’s most powerful tidal current, where hundreds of millions of cubic meters of water rush through a narrow gap every six hours, creating an ever-changing force of nature.
