In this episode, we’re reminded of how grateful we are to live in such a beautiful place and share it with the people who support us. Our Patreon member John made an incredible journey all the way from Niagara Falls to Gabriola Island just to hang out with us for a week—and what a week it was! John’s generosity was overwhelming, from treating us to delicious food to even surprising us with a new GoPro. In return, we took him sailing and explored the stunning Saturnina Island, where we discovered an amazing log structure on the beach and spent hours soaking up the beauty. Halfway through the week, we had an unforgettable moment when we docked next to a mega-yacht called Summertime and met Johnny Bravo, the yacht’s engineer. Johnny came aboard Dagon, a boat I sold to Nathan but spent years trying to get running after its motor was removed over 60 years ago. With Johnny’s expertise, we were able to solve the engineering challenges we’d been facing, and for the first time in over six decades, Dagon’s engine roared back to life. It was a monumental moment that I’ll never forget. Back on our boat, we also made big strides in our projects, building a brand-new forward hatch and fully rebuilding the midship’s hatch, which took over 20 hours of work. It’s been a week full of incredible milestones, fun adventures, productive projects, and heartfelt moments shared with friends who help make this dream possible. We have been out sailing but in the interest of not repeating ourselves I have not been filming our day sails on the Orwell and Stour! I give a brief on where we've been and what's been going on in our world and then get back to an episode filmed back in MAY! Serious delay in getting this out I know. For numerous reasons I wanted to test this brush to see if it could really do the job of a haul out. It doesn't. However for a regular hull clean it works well and providing the hull is not heavily fouled it is much better than a normal brush to clean the hull. It's easy to use and you can visibly see it working but naturally its difficult to check progress as you cant see what you are doing with the hull being under the water. We also hauled out and did the sand down, anti foul, replaced the anodes on the prop and hull, painted the prop, cleaned the hull and polished the hull, took our cockpit cover and spray hood for refurbishment and repair and jet sprayed the deck. I didn't film most of the work as at the time I was juggling, doing house renovation work that had to be completed before we could get new windows and doors installed, full time work and getting the boat work done, plus of course general father and husband duties!! It was a hell of a couple of weeks. As mentioned in the video I plan to get some solo sails in as I want to boost my experience levels and confidence as its not where I would like it to be now we have the little one on board. I am fine on my own but want to push that further to make life easier for everyone on board so we can do some longer passages together when the weather permits. We get hauled out onto the dry dock in Marsden Cove in New Zealand and it has to be one of the cleanest , well managed boat yards we have ever been to . The Boat yard staff were so extremely helpful and accommodating , the facilities were great and there was even a herb garden and kitchen to cook and wash up in every night! The only major challenge we had to face was the adverse weather that year and a couple of cyclones that came through. But this was more down to climate change . I say no more. At last, we have fitted the DIY mast tangs (see "New! Kaşla göz arasında çok büyük olduğu için kullanamadığımız kıçtan takmayı da sattık. Bir oh çektik. Olduğu yere çok yükleniyor, sert havada gevşeyip denize düşecek diye aklımız çıkıyordu. Bir dertten kurtulmuş olduk. Martin ve Lucie motoru almaya geldiklerinde Arjantin'in meşhur soğanlı pizzası Fugazzeta'nın favori adreslerini verdi. Bir anda kendimizi pizzacıda bulduk. Biz bu yeme işini çok abarttık. Yanaklarımız dolu dolu artık. Ertesi gün de Patagonya koylarında tekneyi bağlamak için ihtiyacımız olan halatları bulmak için yola çıktık. Çıktık ama tabii ki kaybolduk. Bayağı tırstık. Günün sonunda aradığımız yeri bulduk ama maalesef aradığımız halatları bulamadık. Bir tam günü de Eva Peron'un müzesine ayırdık. Çok yalın ve küçük bir müzeydi ama Arjantin tarihine dair içimizde heyecan yarattı. Oradan da adet yerini bulsun diye Evita'nın mezarının olduğu Recoleta mezarlığına gitti. Ne mezarlıkmış! We have a sailboat and one thing we haven't done yet, is to take her out for a test sail. In this episode we go out on the water for a first test sail. As with a new sailboat there is a lot of things to test, but on major thing for us was the keel we cast ourselves a few months ago. We are Thomas and Petra and late August 2020 we left Sweden to start our first sailing adventure. We sailed for a year to the Caribbean and back again. October 2023 we bought a new sailboat, a Wasa 530 that is need of some renovation. #yelken #teknedeyaşam #macera #gezi Uruguay'da son gezimizi de Güney Amerika'nın Miamisi olarak tabir edilen ve lüksün merkezi Punta Del Este'ye yaptık Pek umduğumuzu bulamadık diyebiliriz. Zaten Avrupa'da lüksü gördükten sonra Güney Amerika'daki herhangi bir lüksten etkilenmek çok zor. Sayılı gün çabuk geçer derler ya, Uruguay'daki günlerimiz de göz açıp kapanıncaya kadar geçti. Gözümüz zaten hep hava durumundaydı. Yüksek basıncın ucunun apaz seyrine izin vereceğini görünce hemen yola çıkmaya konsantre olduk. Yol muhteşem geçti. Bu tekne uçuyor. Uruguay'dan Arjantin'e yelken seyri yapan teknelerin videolarında genelde hep motorla gittiklerini görürsünüz. Biz max 12.2 knot hız gördük ve gün batımında kanalda daha rahat bir seyir için ana yelkeni kapatıncaya kadar da ortalama 8.4 knot hızla yol aldık. Kanalda düşündüğümüzden biraz daha fazla trafik vardı. Geceyi de bizim için eğlenceli hale getirdik. Ne kadar üşüdüğümüzü kelimelerle ifade etmek mümkün değil. Videoyu seyredince dişlerimizin tıkırdadığını duyabileceksiniz. 24 saatin sonunda Arjantin Yat Kulübe bağlandık. Buenos Aires'ten ilk izlenimlerimiz çok pozitif. Dev caddeler ama stilini korumayı başarmış klasik binalar.
