In this episode we look back at last year when we sailed from Gibraltar to Cartagena along the Spanish south coast. We get to know some of the Scabby Monohull founding members such as sv Kendra and sv Esperance @fivegosailing.
Discover our full article in Multihulls World N°204. This classic event has been running for 30 years now, offering a rally-raid type regatta in northern Brittany. This year, the vent based at Erquy will serve as the world championship for catamaran raids. Which classes are accepted? F18 (21 registered) and Viper (4 registered). The appeal of the Costarmoricaine, apart from its magnificent and technical courses, is that it brings together pure amateurs, Olympic-level sailors, and big names in offshore racing such as Charles Caudrelier for the 2025 edition. Although the crews are mainly French, the event can still be considered international, with four British pairs, three Belgian pairs and one Austrian pair taking part. Brieuc Maisonneuve, our reporter on the scene, was surprised by the performance of the F18s: “I took part in an F18 raid in 2013, and I reckon they’ve gained 30% in speed, even though the ratings haven’t changed much. What’s interesting about the fleet, which is not a one-design class, is the diversity of manufacturers – there are five: Cirrus, Akurra, Nacra, Edge, and Exploder. This year, the competitors enjoyed fairly mild summer conditions – moderate winds and calm seas. On the fifth and final day of the rally, the fleet sailed to Cap Fréhel, which is where the final results, which are based on cumulative time, would be decided – capsizing has to be avoided at all costs!”

► Lagoon’s Premium division has already launched more than 50 units, testifying to customers’ enthusiasm for these very large catamarans built in small series production runs - but by a custom service - and justifying the design of even larger models… In concrete terms, it is the historic Seventy range that is being phased out to make way for the Eighty. There are few changes to the hulls, which have been slightly lengthened, but the deck layout and interior design are completely new. Aboard the Eighty 2, which we have just been taking an exclusive look at in Bordeaux, we find the famous opening in the hull topsides as first seen on the Seventy 7 - it acts as a terrace on the water in the Owner’s suite. Despite being proportionately narrower in beam than the Sixty, for example, the deck offers a flybridge of some 540 square feet (50 m²) that can be fitted out as desired, while aft, the platform connecting the sugarscoops covers 236 sq ft (22 m²)... Inside, you’ve got the choice of galley up or galley down. The Lagoon Eighty 2 will very soon be available in a power version under the name of the Eighty 3. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Builder: Lagoon Catamarans Architects: VPLP Design/Patrick Le Quément Interior design: Nauta Design Overall length: 81’11” (24.97 m) Hull length: 78’5” (23.91 m) Length at waterline: 78’3” (23.85 m) Beam: 36’1” (11 m) Draft: (1.9 m) Sail area: 3,683 sq ft (338 m²) Engines: 2 x 230 HP Fuel: 2 x 370 US Gal (2 x 1,400 l) Water: 2 x 211 US Gal (2 x 800 l) CE Certification: A14/B18/C24/D40 ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! In this episode we get a little familiar with Tivat, meet with an electrician to discuss our upgrades and have to make some decisions about whether we stay here or head back to Croatia, which was the original plan, for the battery & solar upgrades...

What was meant to be a quiet stop for small waves and simple boat life turned into an unforgettable showdown. When an unexpected intruder slithered aboard—not once, not twice, but three times—we had no choice but to face it head-on. From surf sessions to one very determined snake, this episode has it all. Toni and I are organizing “Moments in Time” storage areas for better long-term storage as we begin to transition to a life at sea. We need space for spare parts, tools, sailing gear, diving gear, fishing gear, and food stores. We will probably move things two or three more times before we get it right. Everything on a boat needs to be properly stored. Subscribe and share in the adventure! Who knew there’d be such a bounty of seafood hiding just behind what has been claimed as the world’s most beautiful beach? We took the tender up into the creek systems of Hill Inlet after hearing rumours of mud crabs lurking in the mangroves – and we weren’t disappointed. A few well-placed pots later and we had ourselves a decent haul. Special shout out to Kev & Kate from @BaittoPlate for the tips and sharing their chicken bait - legends. Then, while anchored in a stunning stretch of turquoise water, we threw in a line and landed some squid… one of which made a last-ditch attempt to escape by squirting ink all over Kym. (Classic squid move, 10/10 for drama.) We topped it off with a beach stop all to ourselves – just us, the sand, and the quiet hum of nature. It’s wild to think how much life is teeming just out of sight in places like this. Hill Inlet isn’t just beautiful above the water – it’s thriving beneath it too. It’s one of those pinch-yourself moments. Every day out here, this trip keeps surprising us. Thanks for watching.
