I have a charity that is helping budget sailors in need. I call it the "Sailor Samaritan Charity". Together with the generous support of Island Water World(a major boating supply store in the Caribbean), I've been able to help my first sailor. So I started with my friend and fellow sailing YouTuber Huub, from "Huub's VLog". After filming an emergency life raft video together. Huub told me he didn't have a ditch bag. I was a bit scared for him, so I made sure he'd be the first to benefit from this charity program. Together we took the dinghy right up to Island Water World and picked out everything we'd need. This is the final ditch kit/ditch bag list we built for Huub. And I put it in order of what I think is most important. 1. EPIRB(Emergency Position-Indicating RadioBeacon) 2. Handheld VHF Radio 3. Waterproof Head Lamp 4. Medical Kit 5. 12ga Flair Gun & shells 6. Multi tool 7. Water Bottles 8. Emergency Blanket 9. Handheld Flair 10. Rope 11. Emergency duct tape 12. Air Horn 13. Signal Mirror 14. Compass 15. Rash guard 16. Buff 17. Sun block 18. Whistle 19. Snacks 20. Glow Sticks All items contained within a Highfield brand bright orange 30L Waterproof bag If you're interested in or know someone who needs something on their boat. Here's how to apply: Send me an email to adventuremandan.life@gmail.com Let me know what's going on and what you need. Or who you know that's in need and how to get a hold of them. Restrictions: Though Island Water World has given me a generous amount to work with. If I'm going to help multiple sailors, I can't buy each a big ticket item. It's my hope that I can spread this wealth to as many sailors as possible. So don't be shy if you're in need of a just a small item or two. As well, I can only help those who are along my sailing route between Saint Martin and Grenada that I can meet and take to an Island Water World store. Huub is just the first of many sailors I'm keen to help. I can't wait to hear from you! Cheers! . . . BECOME a Patron! Alinghi Red Bull Racing took advantage of near-perfect conditions out in Barcelona with the thermal ‘Garbi’ breeze delivering 12-16 knots and flat water – ideal for the Swiss to hone technique onboard their AC75 ‘BoatZero’ and try to find the perfect flight to keep the bow clear whilst keeping the power on through manoeuvres. Speaking afterwards, Elliot Pilcher one of the Hydraulics Engineers at Alinghi Red Bull Racing offered an insight into the work going on in the bowels of the boat and summed up the day saying: “It was a good day, it was perfect conditions out there, I think, we had flat water and almost up to 15 knots of breeze, that sort of range, so it was a really ideal sailing day and in the upper range everything gets up to full load pretty easily on these boats.” Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away. It's a raw, unedited view of the never before seen behind-the-scenes development of a team and their boat to win the oldest trophy in international sports. #AC37Recon #AmericasCup #Barcelona2024

She departed as a storm descended over Lake Erie. Despite numerous contradictory sightings throughout the night, come morning the ship and her crew were never seen again. To this day, her wreck remains undiscovered, making her one of the greatest mysteries of the Great Lakes. New York Yacht Club American Magic may well be into their final few days of sailing on beautiful Pensacola Bay, but the pace of development ramped up a notch today as the team unveiled a new, sturdier looking port foil, beefed up around the side-wall area of the pointy bulb presumably in a leeway-defying move and some interesting outer flaps, painted in white with red markers on the outer foil. Notable too was that the new foil had upturned winglets at the outer end of both the inner and outer ends. Speaking afterwards Andrew Campbell was his usual open self in interview, saying: “Yeah another ‘Monday Blues’ man, we are starting to see that summer weather creep into Pensacola here so warm, sticky, and thunder stormy today, so we tried to sneak in a little session ahead of the of the weather and we ended up getting a lot of it on top of us…the good thing is that all the beach goers and guys in their power boats and families out for a day cruise sail are happy to go in when the rain starts so we're left alone out on the Bay and it's still good sailing conditions because the data is still being collected, it's just not as nice to look at.” Section 41. It was a first proper commissioning day for Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli in the AC40 with Ruggero Tita and Marco Gradoni given charge supported by the ace trimmers and Flight Controllers of Umberto Molineris and Andrea Tesei. All was looking good with a calm Bay of Cagliari welcoming one of the prettiest of the new AC40 class with 9 to 14 knots of breeze and a gentle swell for what looked like being potentially a solid day to tick through a full checklist on the systems side. First take-off looked assured on starboard tack with the port foil immersed and the one design M1 and J3 sails set but very quickly the team discovered a rotor sensor issue with the starboard foil and the realisation quickly dawned that they could only sail on the port foil. This was never going to be a long session in the circumstances, but the team enjoyed the 1 nautical mile run, playing around with ride height and windward heel, understandably a bit erratically at first, but looked pretty solid by the end of the short blast after some hairy high flight initially. With the issue detected, the technicians were in down below quickly and the call was made to lower sails and head back to shore. Enrico Voltolini, the AC40 boat captain and also one of the team in training to join the power group on the AC75, was pretty clear with the issue saying: “Today we just did a take-off, we got a problem on the rotor sensor on the starboard flap, so we were not able to sail on port and we did a structural test and soon we go back in the water. Yeah, they boat is not so easy like it seems, I mean if you steer and sail the boat it's easier than the prototype or AC75 but on the technical side it is a ‘full of mechatronics’ boat.” Section 41. In today’s episode, we’ll talk about the latest Sealine Yachts on the market. We’ll feature some of the most essential features and specifications to look out for when hunting for your next luxury yacht, such as seaworthiness, performance, and amenities. Be sure to watch until the end of the video to see our number one pick! In the 1970s, Tom Murrant made history in England’s Kidderminster by establishing the Sealine Boatyard. Prioritising functionality and durability, this yacht manufacturer tops off each model with as many features and customisation options as you can imagine. Now under the parent company Hanse Yachts, their new model line bridges the gap between British sensibilities and German precision, leading to various nominations and awards, including a prestigious nomination for the European Powerboat of the Year and Best of Boats Award. ⛵️If you enjoyed this topic, leave a LIKE, drop a COMMENT, and SHARE this video around! ⛵️SUBSCRIBE and click the notification bell, so you’ll be updated when new episodes become available! The flight control gremlins crept into Alinghi Red Bull Racing’s session on Friday afternoon out in Barcelona and although a nosedive at high-speed downwind and a ripped jib was the result, the crash was telegraphed from almost the off. Speaking about the nosedive afterwards, Bryan Mettraux was matter-of-fact in his assessment saying: “Yeah, so we were exiting of a gybe and just flying too high at the exit and we lost the rudder so the boat go down really quickly and, yeah, we had one of our grinders that is a bit injured but the news (about him) is pretty good… I think all the crew did a good job then to make him in a safe position.” Section 41. With lines that display beauty and muscle, the Galeon 560 Fly is eye-catching indeed. Her hull side windows blend into treatments that give them a full-length look and a modern feel. But there’s even more appeal when she’s boarded and the fit and finish start to manifest themselves upon the eyes. This is a yacht that is luxurious and her design stylings make that clear. The beautiful sailing waters off Barcelona are about to become a crowded place with the arrival of all the America’s Cup teams in short order for the summer season, but for now Alinghi Red Bull Racing has the run of the place and put on a superb display today (Thursday) for the early-season sun-bathers dotted along the La Barceloneta beach. Speaking afterwards, Nicolas Charbonnier spoke about having the Team Principal onboard and was impressed saying: “I think he's a having a lot of fun sailing this boat and he’s learning really quickly so it's amazing to have him onboard and I think we can see on his face when he’s jumping off how happy he was with the day… there is no difference to like a full-time professional sailor and Ernesto is just there sailing and we don’t change anything. He’s as good as any of us, and he's a steering the boat and nothing is different.” Section 41.

In some of the best footage to date of the 37th America’s Cup cycle, Alinghi Red Bull Racing were sailing on the limit off Barcelona today (Wednesday) in big breeze and absolutely sending BoatZero down the designated racecourse past the W-Hotel and up along the La Barceloneta beachfront at astonishing speeds. Speaking afterwards, Augustin Maillefer, always one of the great interviewees of the Swiss team summed up the issue saying: “We stopped because we were not sure, there was something with a sensor and yes complex boats, the sensor had to be changed and that's why we stopped…exactly why I don't know but it needed to be replaced and when it was done we were still not happy with how it was going. It's a very complex boat and many things need to be perfect for it to be ready to sail so that's why we called it a day in the end.” Section 41. It was a light-weather day for INEOS Britannia on Wednesday in the AC40 as the sailors ran through some race simulations out in the Bay of Palma, “pushing to the bottom of the range,” as Leigh McMillan described it. Valuable in a sense that during the summer and into the pre-regattas, the teams will certainly face lighter summer Mediterranean breezes and a day for the helms to be super-accurate on the exits and the trimmers to keep on keeping the power on. Unfortunately sailing was curtailed after an hydraulics issue that couldn’t be solved on the water and the next planned sailing day is Tuesday next week. A tweakers day, so who better to sum it up than Leigh McMillan, a double Olympian in the Tornado Class, arguably one of the fastest foiling sailors of this generation and a real go-to trimmer in the America’s Cup world? Leigh talks us through the perfect tack and gybe, the transitions and co-ordination that the British are building into their programme and reviews the day with Justin Chisholm, esteemed yachting journalist and a vital part of the INEOS Britannia Recon Team in this America’s Cup cycle. A great watch for those interested in the mechanics of what makes an AC40 go fast. Section 41. It's scary to think about. But what if you have to abandon your sailboat out in the open ocean. It's a fear of anyone who's ever been out on a boat has had. "What if this boat sinks?" We've all thought about it. But I wanted to try and feel it a bit more. To live this experience...... Unfortunately as we were making this, Huub and I came to the realization that neither of us are actors. So the final result was a bit more humorous than I initially intended. The end of the summer testing session for Emirates Team New Zealand is in sight and with the team getting ready for the long haul up to Barcelona for the European summer, the sessions are getting more intense with Te Rehutai, the defender’s much modified and weapons-grade AC75. Providing all the power, the cyclor unit looks super-impressive and after sailing, Dougal Allen came to the mic for a fascinating run through of the programme. Dougal is one of New Zealand’s top multi-sport athletes having won the famous Coast-to-Coast race twice which involves cycling, kayaking and running. Completely new to sailing before joining Emirates Team New Zealand, Dougal is fast-becoming one of the key cyclors in the team. Talking about the day he said: “I think everyone was pretty eager to get back on the water today after sort of floating around yesterday looking for wind and we certainly had it today and yeah I think everyone was pretty excited with what we managed to achieve.” Section 41. NYYC American Magic kicked off May with what Paul Goodison described as “pretty close” to the all-time speed record onboard their AC40 in LEQ12 development mode as the Pensacola speed merchants pushed ‘America’ to the absolute limit in big breeze on Monday. Speaking afterwards Paul Goodison gave a pretty breathless account of the day saying: “It was pretty full on and as you can see the boat’s just ripping and great to see how well the boat performed on the new foil wing, we’ve seen some really impressive speeds both upwind and downwind…The bear-aways were obviously very tricky, going through the power zone and the turn ups at the bottom were very tricky trying to make the boat as wide as you can and get as much grip as you can in the turn up…we were experimenting a little bit with two boards in and seeing how we work on the on the grip to get through - a couple of nice ones, a couple of not so nice ones, but it's just a learning process and again we got more data and more practise and stepping in the right direction.” Section 41. NYYC American Magic rolled out yet another upgrade to their starboard foil on Friday on the AC40 in LEQ12 mode out in Pensacola for a brilliant session that saw Lucas Calabrese take the helm for the first time along with Andrew Campbell who also had a turn. Calabrese and Campbell are key Flight Controllers for American Magic and these are valuable days for the team to build in knowledge and experience. Andrew Campbell, always a perfect interviewee, gave an interesting assessment of the day saying: “There’s a lot of things to be done on days like today when it's so steady and the sea breeze is in and locked in and the boat’s, you know, performing well we can go through a lot of setting changes that make subtle differences to our performance that only show up in the data with those small changes. So, it's a perfect day to have a small change make an impact on our performance and be able to see that curve through the data at the end of the day. That was our priority today just to make sure we were kind of hitting that. Oftentimes, the optimums are really soft, you know, you'll see a few different angles are giving you a really very similar number and it's only days like today where you can see which ones are actually the best.” Section 41. Alinghi Red Bull Racing closed out their April sailing on Thursday with a near five-hour session in BoatZero, the team’s AC75, in marginal conditions right along the Barcelona waterfront. Modifications have been made to the boat since its relaunch after the rudder tower structural failure back at the end of March and it’s no secret that the team have struggled for consistency on the replacement rudder since. Arnaud Psarofaghis and Maxime Bachelin steered like banshees particularly offwind, driving BoatZero hard and getting better and better on the hand-over transitions – not easy when the windward board pulls the bow down through every manoeuvre. These two sailors are forming a compelling partnership whilst also welcoming and promoting Nicolas Rolaz, the hard-driving former Optimist World Champion and the youngest member of the team, into what the Swiss call the ‘Driving Group’ to join the likes of Nicolas Charbonnier, Bryan Mettraux, Yves Detrey and Lucien Cujean. From this group, the ultimate Helmsmen and Flight Controllers will be selected, and Alinghi Red Bull Racing will be ruthless in their selection to find the fastest and most co-ordinated unit, capable of handling the pressure of the America’s Cup. In interview afterwards Nicolas Rolaz commented: “I'm feeling great you know, it's a great opportunity that the team gave me, there is a lot of trust, and it really was a long process, but I think it's a good decision. I'm really happy about that, it’s a new challenge, the goal remains the same: it's to win the Cup - but in a different way for me now, so very good. “ Section 41. Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli continued their relentless drive for perfection today (Thursday) on their fourth straight session this week in near-perfect conditions out on the Bay of Cagliari and were joined on their imaginary racecourse by competition in the form of 1800 horsepower hanging off the back of their Chase Boat to give the team some pressure or ‘interference’ as Francesco Bruni called it later. Speaking afterwards, Francesco ‘Cecco’ Bruni was his usual open, honest and frank self, opening the door to the campaign with the ever-present smile of a man that knows a good day when he sees it. “Well, we did half a day testing, half a day out today around the course. We try to push around the course a little bit more than usual with the Chase Boat - a little bit of Chase Boat action interfering with the boat. It was good we had a good setup, the boat was going well today so yeah it was a very nice day and with the sea breeze here it was perfect intensity, medium breeze between 12 and 15 knots or so and the waves were not too big so pretty easy kind of day.” Section 41.

It was an interesting crew swap today for INEOS Britannia out in Palma with Leigh McMillan coming into the driving seat on the port side, taking control of flight on the starboard-hung W-Foil, whilst Giles Scott switched over to the port pod cockpit rifling through an aggressive testing schedule on the T-Foil. For Leigh McMillan, a double Olympian in the Tornado class (2004 & 2008), and a fine foiling sailor in his own right, he was excused from his usual role as one of the team’s go-to Flight Controllers for a highly productive test session that saw both helms increasingly pushing harder and harder through manoeuvres. Early falls off the W-Foil were correlated to lighter winds but as the breeze built into the afternoon, the new helming duo barely missed a transition and with the very experienced Luke Parkinson and Bleddyn Mon doing trim and Flight Control, they looked totally in control. Mainsail trim again saw big twist induced and, similar to all the top teams at the moment, control of the head was masterful to keep ‘T6’ flying for long stints and powering through the lulls effectively.
