Out of all the countries in the Mediterranean, I think it’s safe to say that Malta may be one of the most unique. And of all the incredible things we’ve seen in Malta the fish market at Marsaxlokk is probably the thing that will leave the strongest impression on us… Literally And this is one of the last experiences that we’ll have in Malta as Isabella’s medical appointments that have kept us from leaving are almost all finished. Although getting Isa to her appointment and sailing to the famous fish market might sound like pretty easy tasks they both turned into a much bigger adventure than we expected. In the alternative farming scene, it's unlikely for anyone to have not heard of Joel Salatin or have been influenced by his larger than life personality. Here in our cozy corner of South-Western Australia, we were fortunate enough to meet another two farmers who are carving out a place for themselves in the world of regenerative agriculture, incorporating his lessons from the other side of the world while running their pastured poultry operation. Jeff and Michelle of Southampton Homestead are passionate about restoring health to the land, opportunity to the people of their community and a meaningful life for the animals in their care. It is our great fortune to count them as our friends and it is with no small pleasure that we present their story to you. Barcelona was at its boisterous best on Wednesday with a ‘Levant’ easterly wind offshore and a ‘Xaloc’ south easterly inshore that brought in heavy rain squalls that tipped the anemometers above 15 knots. Alinghi Red Bull Racing brought their baby Bulls out to play with the tricked up LEQ12 now minus the delta Tubercle foil and the one design AC40 lining up for a solid four-hour session of sail testing and technique refinement. Speaking afterwards, Nicolas Rolaz, now an integral member of the Driving Group at Alinghi Red Bull Racing and sailing aboard the AC40 One Design today gave his thoughts on the sail testing saying: “it was a different mainsail on (the LEQ12) so we're trying different settings it depends on the wind, depends on the waves, but overall both boats had positive things and negative things… we didn’t have much time with both J2’s up because the waves were big and the wind went down so we struggled with we take offs. So, it was good to try the J2 in this low in breeze and yeah, the difference in the main it’s hard to tell with the sea state it's a lot more boat handling more than sails.” Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away. It's a raw, unedited view of the never before seen behind-the-scenes development of a team and their boat to win the oldest trophy in international sports. #AC37Recon #AmericasCup #Barcelona2024

WELCOME!!! To this full in-depth boat tour of a beautiful 1987 S2 35C. "Freda Kai" is a center cockpit sloop rigged monohull sailboat. She has a 6' draft, 50' air draft, 12'6" beam and a 29hp Volvo engine. Sailing at an average speed of 5.9 knots. While sporting 720w of solar panels, it easily makes all it's own electricity. S/V Freda Kai has been sailed solo and with crew by my good friend, mentor, and buddy boat Jay Safro. This boat has been his home for the past eight years and more than 12,000nm. From this boat Jay loves to explore and go on adventures wherever his anchor rests across the Caribbean. Choosing to spend most of this time on anchor rather than a marina, like a true sailor should. This is a humble, and comparatively affordable sailboat. But I think that is an upside. Because unlike most catamarans and other larger vessels. Freda Kai is highly affordable and has an very low cost to maintain. Allowing Jay to be able to sail and cruise full time. Without worry about breaking the bank. Earning money here and there when he needs to by working as an upholster on other boats, or doing fiberglass and any other job that might need to be done on a wide range of boats. Jay is truly a jack of all trades, and has been an insightful influence on my own sailing and cruising lifestyle over the past several years. Jay has future plans of changing and adding just a few systems to his boat. Mainly a water-maker. But all in all, this boat has been and is a fully capable ocean going cruiser. In the future he plans to make more improvements and upgrades to this boat. Stay tuned to see what comes next! As well, Jay regularly takes on crew to join in his sailing adventures. Post a comment below if you're interested in joining aboard Freda Kai! __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Help support my channel & get exclusive/early access: https://www.patreon.com/adventuremandan 🤜🏼 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/adventuremandan.life/ 🤜🏼 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adventureman_dan/ 👋🏼New Here?!?👋🏼 Hello & welcome! Plenty to celebrate but plenty to think about for New York Yacht Club American Magic who conducted their first day of two boat testing out on a choppy and gusty Barceloneta beachfront on Monday. Clearly delighted to be two-boating for the first time in this campaign after their AC40 ‘Magic’ was delivered directly to the team’s base at the MB92 dockyard on the southern flank of the Port Vell promontory, the team lined their tweaked-up LEQ12 with its starboard foil, running leeway-reducing winglets and beefed-up bulb against the ultimate benchmark in the AC40 in pure one design mode. Speaking afterwards, the affable Andrew Campbell came to the recon interview buzzing after a great day on the water but clear that the team are again on the learning curve at the America’s Cup venue saying: “It was an awesome day for our team in Barcelona. We've had a long time coming to get two boats on the water together and it's a huge effort from everybody in this tent and from everybody outside of this tent as well you know getting to Barcelona, getting unpacked, getting their families here getting everybody set up here. We're obviously still getting set up but it's a massive undertaking to be here and to get to this point and this kind of milestone and get two boats in the water lined up today is a big step for our programme and it's something that I think we're all really proud of, or we should be anyway, and you know a lot of teething issues going on today because you know two boats in the water adds a lot of complications but yeah everybody's really excited about where we're at and the gains that we're going to make now that we have two boats on the water and we're kind of getting settled here so they're big steps.” Section 41. Alinghi Red Bull Racing continued their relentless training programme on Friday, launching their LEQ12 AC40 with a clear test-plan to dig into the relative performance of their new starboard-hanging Tubercle delta foil. Arnaud Psarofaghis and Nicolas Charbonnier put the boat into uncomfortable ride heights and bow-up stalling modes to find the flow detachment points after the team had taken the opportunity of flat water early in the day to affix an industrial looking camera on the underside of the Tubercle and tow-testing for almost an hour at various ride heights. With the camera neatly removed via a sharp thwack with a hammer, the LEQ12 returned to base, loaded sails and waited for the Garbi breeze to fill before heading out and smashing in another big afternoon, covering 58 nautical miles and a total of 50 manoeuvres with high percentage rates foil-to-foil. This Bull is charging now and whilst others are arriving in Barcelona, theit programme continues. Nicolas Charbonnier came to the recon interview and gave a thorough account of the day, as always, and spoke about the modes the sailors were running and the data results they were seeking from the session. Always worth listening to, Nico offered an interesting insight into the angles out of the gybes and the variances that just a few extra knots of breeze cause on this crucial metric. Another great day for the Alinghi Red Bull Racing Team. Section 41. The crystal waters off the Barcelona beachfront became a busy place today as Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli conducted their first sailing session at the 37th America’s Cup venue in their stylish one design AC40 joining both NYYC American Magic and Alinghi Red Bull Racing who were all out training today. A crew swap after a short break brought the most dramatic moment of the day, however, with the AC40 getting high and loose downwind after a gybe on the chop causing the rudder to come out of the water and quickly the team were into a corkscrew capsize. Francesco Bruni later explained the situation saying: “It was a very good day, nice sea breeze, we had a very good first part of the sailing session we did a lot of manoeuvres, the boat was behaving very well, it was our first day in Barcelona which is a very important moment for the team, then we did a crew swap and in one of the gybes the rudder came out of the water, maybe the sea state was becoming a little bit bigger and just a little mistake ended up in a capsize which for these boats is quite normal, but we wanted to do a shorter section anyway. We broke the wind instruments on the bow sprit, so we decided to go in.” Section 41. New York Yacht Club American Magic have been busy sailing and commissioning their one design AC40-8 ‘Magic’ in Barcelona since launch on the 22nd June, meanwhile, after a safe Atlantic crossing, their LEQ12 AC40 ‘America’ took to the Barcelona waters on Friday for a full shake-down sail. Speaking afterwards, Terry Hutchinson, President of Sailing Operations and Skipper, appeared highly relaxed and pleased to be onsite at their new base in the MB92 shipyards saying: Barcelona is an incredible city it's an incredible spot to go sailing - we've been here in the past with the Quantum Racing on the TP52’s and so the venue we know is just awesome… Today was as much sea trialling Boat One ‘America.’ We've been sailing ‘Magic’ and christening that and getting that into a mode that we can two-boat sail and so really today was as much about sea-trialling ‘America’ and get her back into a spot that she's ready to go next week, so a little bit of starting and stopping, a little bit systems checks making sure everything is in good working order.” Section 41.

Discover the fascinating story of the mysterious unsinkable ghost ship! Get ready to embark on a journey full of intrigue and suspense as you uncover the incredible tale of the Governor Parr schooner! Imagine a majestic wooden sailboat built in Nova Scotia, Canada, in 1918, with an imposing length of 200 feet. In September 1923, the Governor Parr was on its final voyage to Buenos Aires, Argentina, when a fierce storm hit her. The relentless power of the waves wreaked havoc on the ship, toppling its majestic mizzen mast and claiming the lives of the captain and one of the sailors. Convinced that the ship would sink, the crew abandoned it during the storm, unaware that this would only be the first twist in this incredible story. #ghostship #sailing #ship

To find the perfect floating home for our family. We road tripped up and down the east coast of the United States, strategized with experts, spent our nights editing videos and our days touring every boat we could, all in search of the best Bluewater boat we could afford. We had a really strong sense of what we wanted our future boat to prioritize, and what compromises we were willing to accept. But that was all very theoretical, and now, after living on the boat for two years, exploring a huge variety of coastlines, and sailing across the Atlantic and much of the Mediterranean, it’s time for us to take a step back, and ask ourselves if we made the right choice? We’ll give our honest thoughts on how well the Pacific Seacraft 40 suits our needs, what we think of the various systems and design elements, we’ll discuss what kind of sailor could benefit from this kind of boat, and what kind of sailor might not, and finally we’ll answer the question, did we buy the wrong boat? There were happy faces shoreside at Alinghi Red Bull Racing on Wednesday evening as the sailors put in a simply scintillating performance, another ‘best day’ in a week where they have shown remarkable improvements in technique aboard their AC75 ‘BoatZero.’ Never the easiest boat to sail, and designed for Auckland conditions, although heavily modified now to the new AC75 rule, the Swiss sailors can take huge credit for the almost vertical learning curve that they’ve been on and the way they’ve honed their foiling and overall boat-handling technique to really deliver results. Bryan Mettraux came to the recon interview with a broad smile on his face after sailing on Wednesday and his general demeanour gave away the distinct clue that things are really looking up in the camp. Talking about the day he said: “Yeah for sure we improve every day and today was the perfect condition - flat sea-state, nice breeze between 10 and 15 so the water made for the those conditions, so it was a really nice day on the water… I think today is a bit of everything just improving a ‘click’ on every detail it makes the difference onboard. The boat’s are really sensitive and when everyone is doing his job it can go fast and nice.” Section 41. Such is the intensity of their training this week, that Alinghi Red Bull Racing have been impressing mightily out on the 37th America’s Cup racecourse, building proficiency and consistency into their sailing and showing significant steps forward in technique. Quite simply on a day where the breeze built beautifully to top out with gusts of 18 knots on light chop, the Swiss made the America’s Cup community sit up and take notice. Talking about the tailored physical programmes that he is conducting and the contribution of the Red Bull Athlete Performance Centre that is integrated with the team, Alex said: “There's obviously quite different demands for the guys that have a really high physical requirements on the boat to the guys that have to be much more technical in their roles on the boat; but what we see is a big overlap between the two so we try and taper the programme to the individuals on the boat and also to a certain degree the groups that they're in…it's brilliant to be involved and have the support from the APC, we use them and they're definitely embedded in their programme that we support the guys with here so it's great to have their support and they really add value to what we do here.” Section 41.
