On our trip from Santa Cruz Island (Pelican Bay) to Santa Barbara, we left at the same time as two other sailboats, also known as a "Not Race", an "Under Your Breath Race", "A Cruiser's Adultery", or a "Deniable Competition" (cause when you lose, you weren't ACTUALLY racing). *Please add others in the comments if you think of any 😁* The best part was sailing at a comfortable clip, and having a huge pod of dolphin get excited to run with us. It had a feeling of drive or purpose to it as though the cool kids thought we were cool too, and that we were invited to run with them! They hung out with us for 30 minutes or so, and surfed every wave the boat could produce: the bow, the side, the stern wake, they loved all of it! Hope you enjoy some of the amazing sights we experienced while being able to hang with these agile, fast, and playful creatures!

I've visited around 30 factories now from all across Europe, Turkey, Middle East, Asia, USA and Australia and as an Aussie I am proud to say that if there is a class standard that others could look to follow then this is the company to watch. From the bottom to the top the whole team at Riviera (Riv to us Aussies) has a genuine commitment to building a 'Warranty Free Boat'. They really mean it when they say that and the up to 10 days of testing prior to allowing the boats to leave the factory is evident when the final product is delivered to you. In my 20 years of selling boats I used to dread the times when I was competiting against a Riv because I knew their sales pitch about having some of the best re-sale and build qiality was true. I would see this in practice myself when I came to selling them second hand and observing through the survey process how well they had stood up to the harsh Aussie climate over time. In this video the many staff members I met were more than happy to share all their secrets and teach me a bunch of valuable bits of information on how and why some boats are going to last longer. The answer is it all comes down to spending the extra time and money on the best quality materials in the best facility and produced by the best people! The way they nuture their people to be the best they can be was honestly one of the biggest take aways for me to observe and apprciate. This is a long video so it won't be useful for everyone, but if you are seriously considering a Riv or one of their competitors then this will be a valuable use of your time as you're not just buying a boat when it comes to a Riv. Ep 67 – Replacing the portlight windows Sailing Free Spirit Changing out the windows are a 2 person job… we saved this until we both could do it together. Today we are working to continue to make her water tight and fixing all of the leaks around the windows while changing them now. We can now actually see thru the window and could only assume that it has been a while since they were changed out last.
