Day One - At 1820hrs AEDT 26/12/23, Skipper Tony Mutter reflected on the start and the state of the weather on the Souther NSW coast.

"We’re visiting the rugged island state of Tasmania to ride from Hobart to Devonport. The Tasmanian trail follows gravel roads and single trails, with steep ascents and unforgiving rocky terrain. We quickly learned to expect the unexpected, as heavy rains had turned a section of the trail into a long, muddy swamp. Spirits were high as we rode through the centre of the wild state. This was the easiest section of the trail, where we even found some time to relax. By halfway, “Hike a bike” had become the new normal. The Tasmanian Trail is full of fun obstacles, wether thats a fallen tree or the flowing Mersey River. This trail taught us the real meaning of type 3 fun”

Sam is away at work for a month, he has taken a contract job for a month doing survey work for updating charts. He flew from Townsville to Darwin to meet the ship and last week he gave us an insiders tour of the ship's bridge. Every boat is a compromise, no one boat is perfect. But IF you have the money, THIS is the absolute dream to live on, and sail around the world! Welcome to S/V Monoceros! A 2008 48' Fountaine Pajot. After several years of living, sailing, and working on this gorgeous catamaran. It's no great leap to say that would easily sell for $500,000! Though I don't think they're interested in selling anytime soon. Now half a million dollars might seem like a lot. But when you consider what it can do. And the current housing market..... I think this boat is worth that hefty price tag..... Though I certainly won't be affording one anytime soon! How this happened: I first met the owners John & Tina whiling exploring with my Highfield 310 dinghied into the well protected bay they were anchored in less than a week before filming this tour.
